This model is ideal for sports and outdoor activities. It features a distinctive two-tone rotating bezel and the characteristic color gradations typical of Orient on the dials. On the aluminum bezel, two different colors divide the edges, separated at the triangle and 15-minute markers. The luminescent material with a sepia-toned vintage effect on the hands and dot indices gives it the worn appearance of a watch that has been used and loved for many years. These details, along with the color gradations on the dials, create a striking vintage look.

I have owned several of these watches over the years and they never disappoint. I love the Sunday blue dial and the consistent reliability of the hand assembled Japanese movement. This is a 200m dive watch that punches way above its weight. Only criticism would be that the bracelets tend to be a bit rattly and don't have solid end links and you only get mineral glass when most watches in this price range now get at least sapphire coating. I own 2 Orient watches and thoroughly recommend.

I’m blown away by the craftsmanship and build of this watch ( FAA02002D9). From it being my first automatic watch, to do color way of the bezel and face. I’ve received so many compliments from this watch and I bought it on a great sale. It’s worth every dollar. It’s a great intro to watch collection or just to your one and done watch. You can’t go wrong with it at all. I use it from a casual watch to a dress watch. I’m happy with the choice and history of Orient Watch.

This is my first mechanical automatic watch and my first Orient. And so far, after having it for just three days, I'm loving it ! The blue dial gives a dressy, exquisite look to a "utilitarian" watch. I've tested it's accuracy via the NIST Atomic clock and after 24 or so hours it's running about 12-13 seconds fast - which is within the factory advertised specs. I'm not a NASA rocket scientist so that's not an issue. Many people complain about the "difficulty" in unscrewing the crown, manipulating the bezel... Perhaps I have strong fingers as this is not an issue for me. The luminosity is very very good. Lasts a nice 7-8 hours and easily readable in the dark/at night once your eyes adjust. I'd love to see Orient come out with a Field watch similar to the Seiko ... MoreThis is my first mechanical automatic watch and my first Orient. When I first bought the Ray 2, I ended up loving it so much, I bought the Mako 2 as a compliment to it.The Mako 2 is built solid, accurate enough, and looks absolutely amazing. The mix of indexes and numbers on the dial is a refreshing look from dots, rectangles, and a triangle.Unlike the Ray 2, the crown winds and screws in and out smoothly. Definitely an appreciated function.Overall, a great watch. There should be a place for the Mako 2 in anyone’s watch collection.
Very nice, relatively inexpensive and a good quality watch. Classy look and feel, Japanese automatic movement keeps great time. I decided to purchase this after reading several positive reviews. I was searching for a great looking and great functioning waterproof watch that if I damaged I wouldn't be totally bummed. I use this as an everyday watch and save my really expensive Swiss watch of similar design for upscale occasions. Walmart online had the best price I could find at the time I purchased it. It has that submariner look and feel. The only negative is the crown is a bit smooth and a little difficult screw down. I'm definitely happy my purchase and think it's a good value.
I received my watch and am fairly bummed by its size. The description says it’s 41.5 case. But the dial measuring from the inner edge of the bezel where it meets the crystal; I’m getting 1.25” or 31.75mm. I like the Watch. Good weight, nice feeling bracelet, easy to adjust, nice lume, but the Watch absolutely does not wear anything close to 41.5mm. Still haven’t decided if I’m going to keep it. I’m 6’ 4” and 250 with 7.5” wrist. Kinda looks like a ladies watch on me.
I’ve had mine for at least half a year plus, was my first watch I’ve ever purchased and it got me into collecting them. Keeps time well enough, it’s usually my daily wear because it’s automatic. The lume on it is great, it glows nice in the dark especially if you’re in sunlight often. Haven’t had any issues, I have a watch that cost about twice the price and I still wear this one more! Highly recommend. Can’t say if it is durable for heavy work as I sit at a desk, so far so good for me though.
I wear this watch all the time. Mines seems to run a little fast, sometimes by 5 mins. but that is not a bad thing. Helps me to stay on time or even arrive early. I get compliments and questions on my watch often. I really like talking it up and saying what a great watch. Even the jeweler who adjusted the links on my wristband asked me where I got it from. I plan on getting another one with the Blue and Yellow bezel for more formal occassion. Saving up now...
The Ray2 has a full hacking/winding movement, but even so there's things about it that only emerge once you've used one for a few days or more. The crown is relatively narrow diameter compared to others, way too slick, with not enough grip to make winding easily done, because the gearing in the winder makes it necessary to exert more torque/pressure on the crown to force it to wind. Out of the box, mine gained around 5secs/day but after 4 week's bedding-in that stretched to an unacceptable 30+. At that time I had no timegrapher so a regulation cost me another 20. Which improved things markedly, but still, not enough. Still gained around 8-10 secs daily. As I'd some others that also needed setting I bought a timegrapher and used an old watch to get the feel of ... Which improved things markedly, but still, not enough. Still gained around 8-10 secs daily. As I'd some others that also needed setting I bought a timegrapher and used an old watch to get the feel of setting the movement. Got the scrap watch to average roughly +2 to +3 /day and the Ray2 to be about dead-on while worn for 24hrs straight. It doesn't do that if parked horizontally, each watch needs to be experimented on to find what angle produces the least overnight drift. Or you can buy a watch winder which will keep it rotating enough to average out its variations, giving an approximation of being worn. Used like this, mine can go a week before an adjustment is needed. You have to accept that auto watches will never match the accuracy of even the cheapest quartz watch. Rolex claims to be inside + or - 6secs/day for their auto movements, and my Ray2 now regularly betters that if used as above. It's very handsome, but "wears" a little smaller than I'd like. The bracelet as supplied was nothing special, so I gave it a Strapcode Super Angus, which is a huge improvement of looks and feel. The lume is on a par with Seiko's. Indeed it might be the same stuff, as Seiko/Epson owns Orient. Although I quite like this watch, I stopped short of getting any more Orients because of the crown and winding effort. This is careless design and needn't have been made that way. The result is a watch that takes too much effort to wind, but if you wear it actively all the time this might not be an issue for you. It's a watch that I'd advise you to handle before buying, to assess the whole "crown-thing" for yourself. With that sunburst dial, it's a very good looker indeed. With a strapcode bracelet as above, few watches look better on a man's wrist.
Unfortunately the chance of trying one of these on before purchase is slim. I've watched the videos on line and I've heard the reviews. The watch is very very nice, exceeded my expectations. But and there is a but, it's small. If your used to bigger watch faces on your wrist then it's a bit of a disappointment. I understand it's a homage watch to older times when watches were a little smaller. I'm getting more used to it as time goes on and it's less of an issue. In a week it's lost five seconds , now that's very impressive indeed.
