BE WARY OF ALLERGIC REACTIONS

BE WARY OF ALLERGIC REACTION!!! If I could give zero stars I would. I just bought this food Sunday 6/30 and fed it to my Bernese Mountain Dog Monday for his breakfast and dinner. He had a reaction and his lips swelled up and they turned a brownish-green color and it was painful for him, he was drooling uncontrollably and whining. I've never seen anything like it. I had to dose him with benadryl twice and it took a full day for the swelling to go down. I wasn't sure it was the food that caused the reaction so tested a little bit out the following day and sure enough he swelled right back up within a couple hours, his entire mouth was irritated, his gums were inflamed and he felt awful he couldn't eat much and was very down. Formula Change You Should Be Aware Of

They completely removed the goat, mutton and the 3 original probiotic strains, they added salmon, sardines and cranberries, they reduced the amount of wild boar and lamb, they increased the amount of pork and they added in just 1 new probiotic strain. So not only are there now less quality ingredients but this is no longer as good for gut health. Disappointed is an understatement.

Great poultry-free dry food option

Definitely transition your cat slowly - it’s much different than cheaper brands laden with fillers like corn so if that’s what your cat is used to, they will probably need time to adjust to this more protein-heavy kind.I do wish Orijen would create a limited ingredient food - even though this one is chicken free, there are so many ingredients and multiple sources of protein that if your cat has a suspected allergy like ours, it would be difficult to rule out which exact ingredient could be the cause. Would love to see single-protein sources from Orijen as well as chicken-free wet food.

Help in the fight against lymphoma!
7 November 2023

Nine weeks ago, we noticed a hard lump in the throat of our six year old Boxer. Vet said the diagnosis was lymphoma and typically after diagnosis, has six to eight weeks to live without chemotherapy. Chemo will not save his life, but could extend him another year or so… Deciding the cost was too high, we turned holistic and alternative. A lot of sites advised to increase protein levels to his intake, but one site also had an issue related to copper sulfate being a possible root cause. Thank you for not containing this toxic chemical that is in so many other dog food brands. For anyone with a breed that has a susceptibility to lymphoma, I highly recommend ORIJEN Regional Red for multiple reasons as a precautionary measure against this highly common disease that is ... MoreNine weeks ago, we noticed a hard lump in the throat of our six year old Boxer. My Golden love this food over Purina pro plan
28 November 2023

I’ve always been a huge Purina pro plan fan until my dog got severely itchy and rash from Purina chicken, switched flavors to see if that helped but Purina still contains chicken by product in lamb and salmon. I researched orijen since I have friends who also feed this. The price is a little more expensive than I like, but this food has been great for my pup. I read through some of the bad reviews about dogs getting digestive issue, but if you just automatically switch from their current food to a new food without slowly introducing the new food then digestive issues occur. I worked in a vet for 10 years and always recommended easing new food with old food to prevent upset the stomach. I had zero issue minus the Purina and chicken, but had to slowly get her fully ... MoreI’ve always been a huge Purina pro plan fan until my dog got severely itchy and rash from Purina chicken, switched flavors to see if that helped but Purina still contains chicken by product in lamb and salmon. I love that it’s got great ingredients. She also gets this with primal raw food and the combination makes meal time delicious.

New and not good ingredients!

I am a long time customer and fan of Orijen. I have trusted the quality of these products for over 12 years and have had several dogs on them, some who have since passed on. My sister has also used Orijen for quite a long time. My sister one day told me that one of your customers left a review that your recipe has changed and that you no longer include wild boar. That in itself is not so bad, but she went and checked the ingredients list on her bag and sent me a picture. I just about spewed out my coffee! You guys are no including mostly meal of various types. That is exactly what we were trying to avoid with all the other commercial dog foods out there. There are a few out there that realize that people care enough about their pets to be willing to pay a bit more, after all, look how much it costs just for veterinary treatments when your pet gets sick. So goodbye and thank you for all the years you did provide a good quality product.

Our Fussy 9 Month Old Aussie Puppy Loves His Food, So Far So Good
7 March 2024

I bought the adult small bag by accident and he really liked it so I bought him the dry puppy food with the canned puppy food and he LOVED it all mixed together. Now, he usually will give a five star the very first time he eats a new food, but by the next meal, he is usually not too impressed, and will walk away from his food and will go hours until he is super hungry. However, he has liked the Orijen, each time. Then yesterday when I mixed it with his previous high quality dry puppy food, he ate around it and only ate the Orijen .I hope he keeps it up. I just put a third of the puppy canned food on it and a little bit of organic chicken broth. Please never stop selling this food
17 July 2024

Behold my new cat. She’s magnificent, right? Look at that glossy coat and those bright eyes. When I adopted her not quite two months ago, the person I adopted her from provided a short list of the cat’s foods and preferences, and gave me a freezer storage bag of Orijen Regional Red. The cat devours it. She has rejected everything else - even expensive treats and excellent wet foods. Literally all she wants is this dry food and her water fountain. This dry food is highly digestible. Kitty has no stomach or litter box issues. She’s happy and that’s enough for me. It is very nutrient and calorie dense, so I carefully measure her servings. I will keep buying this for as long as she enjoys it.

Stinky Poop
6 July 2024

I've been rotating through trying different foods because I have one cat that seems to be having diarrhea issues. After several hundred dollars at the vet, they recommended finding a new food. I choose the Regional Red because it doesn't have any chicken proteins, and in my reading I've been seeing that chicken protein is a pretty common allergy that cats can develop. My seem to enjoy the taste and scarf it down easily. While this hasn't seemed to help my sensitive cat (so I'll be moving on to other foods) I've noticed ALL of my cats have some seriously stinky poo. I know it can take several weeks for cat's digestive systems to acclimate to switching foods, but their poo since switching is UNIQUELY stinky. While it didn't do what I hoped for my sensitive kitty, I can't knock the product as it doesn't advertise itself to do that. The cats seem to enjoy eating it, no body was avoiding it. But the stinky poo that permeates my living spaces after someone uses the box is awful. I have a couple boxes in my laundry room area which is next door to my bedroom, and the smell of their poo has woken me up out of a dead sleep.

We have used Orijen for 10 years - may need a new food
15 June 2024

We have used Orijen dry food (rotating flavors) for our cats entire lives which is 10 whole years. One cat has a sensitive stomach, and the other has seasonal allergies. About two weeks ago we realized our cats allergies were acting up a bit more than normal and the cat with a sensitive stomach had begun throwing up once a day (we feed dry food once a day) and had started overgrooming her stomach, which she has NEVER done. We began troubleshooting and then it dawned on us that we started their new bag of Orijen Regional Red around the time they both started having worse reactions. We didn't even think of it at first since we've used this food for so long and have never had any issues but we also realized the kibble looked different meaning that there has probably been a change in the way food is made and the quality of the ingredients which is frustrating when you're paying $65+ for a bag of cat food. We went out and got a different brand of food and now for the last week our cats allergies have been clearing, no more throwing up, and her overgroomed stomach is growing back hair. We are so incredibly disappointed in this company that we have trusted for years. I do not recommend purchasing this food for your feline anymore.
