But very Cute little security camera, you need to have a USB port that connects to wall for power and a micro SD card with a smart phone. the Grid app took a while to connect to my wifi with the right frequency and recognise my bluetooth to connect devices or something, but was successful on the 6th try (2nd day of trying). But once connect to phone works great so far, better than expected display/clearness of video and audio works, though there is a 2 second lag in audio and video feed. I found that the initial connection process was a little tricky as it wouldn't make the "beep" noise it was supposed to when it recognises my network. It went though the whole connection process and after the timer ran out it didn't show that it had connected, they app showed it was still finishing up with connecting in the progress bar. However, when I went back to the grid connect home app it was ready to use. Switch back to your 5ghz network or use mobile data when operating (after you connect to it) as 2.4ghz will have a low refresh rate. Not a terrible unit for the money, but i would definitely not buy another. Picture is ok, etc. As many have mentioned there can be on going issues with it dropping its connection if you use it far enough away from your wifi router, which is not far. After noting that moving the antenna makes no difference at all i removed what i thought was the antenna only to find it is nothing more than a completely hollow piece of plastic, a dummy antenna. It only has a tiny inch long antenna soldered to the circuit board just behind the camera lens, cheeky sods!

This is a really solid little camera for the price. That said, I’d recommend not enabling motion tracking as this doesn’t seem to work - per another review here, the camera just angles itself at the ceiling. Motion detection however, works fine. If you want to use the camera facing out through a window at night you will need to turn off the indicator light in the settings or you would only see the reflection of the window. You will also need to turn on an outside light as the night function is no good for outside (through a window) at night time without additional lighting. those very small issues aside, this camera detects and records motion 24/7 with no issues and I would recommend at this price point. Note that the app is not enabled for iPad but does work.
I bought this to monitor my dog inside the house when i'm not home. I only plug it in when i am going out and have no dramas with it starting up each time. I do need to open the app on my phone to adjust the camera position though. I like that i can pan around the room. if you want a fixed view maybe get the one that doesn't pan. I had dramas connecting it to the wifi but i have two wifi channels at home so make sure the one youre using for the camera is the same one your smart phone is using. duing set up. For the price its a mint little thing and i'm pretty happy with it.
Great little camera the 2way audio works fine as does the automatic subject/intruder tracking feature it only supports wifi 2.4ghz which is enough speed for the hd video data and audio to be viewed fast another slight downfall is the apps inability to display event tags for easy reviewing at a later time but this can be fixed by a software update so not really the devices fault It uses a old microusb plug for supplying the 5v power. I personally use a normal mobile phone portable power supply and the camera will run for hours off it fine. And at $49.95 it's well worth the money
Bought two units initially to try out in areas that are close to wifi router (within 5m). Both worked when set up next to router and then once placed in separate rooms the problems began. One camera went offline 2 minutes after placing in room, reset and attempted again. had camera replaced by Bunnings, set it all up again. Same problem, both cameras have spent most of their time offline, my home wifi is very strong through out the house as I have mesh set up. My advise to anyone thinking of buying this item, read the negative responses, as they all deal with the real issue (camera offline most of the time). Spend a few dollars more and buy something better.
I bought three of these to monitor activities in my house while traveling overseas. I installed them and tested them for two weeks prior to departure all good except for one which kept going off line and got it replaced. About a week after I left, one camera went off line. Luckily I had it hooked up to a separate power plug which I was able to switch on and off to reboot the camera. However, every twenty for hours it goes off line and now because of the separate power switch being turned on and off, it’s now offline and I can’t reboot the camera. Do not buy if you want something you can rely on for leaving your house for more than a day. Absolute rubbish!
I bought this as an extra security camera for the interior of the house. I've used both branded and el cheapo security cameras and I have to say this camera performs very well at a price point less than $50. Easy to set up and had it up and running in 5 minutes. The motion tracker is a handy feature as it follows movement. The live and playback views quality are very good in well lighted conditions and above average in dark/infra red lighting. Once you slot in the sd card, don't forget to format it using the app. Excellent start up security camera option or as a nanny cam. Highly recommended!
Thought it was a bargain, but spent many hours getting it going and keeping it going, as the network connection kept failing and it would take up to five minutes to reestablish it. I returned the camera and bought the similar unit of another brand costing twice the price. Even though it cost twice as much I quickly found it was tens times the quality. From simple things like a quality mount to vital things like connecting to the network in seconds, giving a rock-solid connection and even updating the firmware online. So much better than this unit I first bought.
