Used other reservoirs, this knocks them all out the water (pun intended). Only used once, but love it already. Having a disability I've fought with many defeats against other brands but thus is supreme. The connection allowing only reservoir to be removed is genius. The magnet is just awesome & the 1.5L volume is perfect for me. Hated taking my other reservoirs out (2L) when all the water done was slosh around, also needed to be careful of the weight. Not in this, this is thought of also, no sloshing. Again spot on, although shouldn't be surprised as the Osprey backpacks I've had/got, Exos 48 & Rook 65 are supreme also.

Perhaps rotate the plane of the weld 90 degrees (may be a manufacturing challenge) so that the weld becomes a strip and the pressure is distributed over the area of weld instead of a line terminating at a tangent point. Either that, or continue the weld around the entire bag to avoid the termination geometry all together. The way the weld is currently being terminated is causing a stress concentrator and there is no margin in the design for the weld degrading.

A very well thought out bladder in terms of features and convenience. I have only tried this bladder on one walk so far but will be using it in our upcomong camping trip soon. It was very convenient to use and easy to clean compared to our old Camel bak bladder. I have taken off one star because when I was trying to fit the dust cap that I had bought, I had to dismantle the bite valve parts and in doing so carefully, I have managed to damage the bite valve without much force which means the plastic material is not as strong I would have like it to be. It is still usable as it is not completely damaged but time will tell how long it lasts. If it completely snaps on our upcoming trip then I will have to spend £10 for a new bite valve which is a shame as this is not a ... MoreA very well thought out bladder in terms of features and convenience. Great design; worth the cost!
17 March 2023

Ive used a few hydration reservoirs in the past and this one is the best in terms of design. The wide opening and the fact that the reservoir can be detached from the tubing means its easier to fill than any others Ive used. I like the magnet on the bite valve which attaches to a chest strap holding the tube securely in place so it wont swing about, and when your backpack is taken off and put down, theres less chance of the valve dangling on dirty ground. Bite valve covers are available to buy although I think they should come as standard. Thats the single minor complaint I have with this otherwise sturdy, well designed, hydration reservoir. Its worth the money.

Holds onto mold and stains
2 November 2022

This is well designed, but unlike any other bladder I have had before, the plastic holds mold and stains. Leaving water with in the bladder with Tailwind in it for a couple days after my hike was my fault and lead to some mold around the edges of the bladder.Again, letting mold get in there in the first place is my fault, but with every other bladder I've had I've been able to get rid of it easily. Not with this one.I've cleaned this extensively with soap, baking, soda, and bleach, but the stains from the mold spots will not come out of the plastic. Never had that before and may just throw it out, even though I've only had it for a few months. It definitely makes me doubt that it would hold up to longterm use.

Lasts forever if you take care of it!
11 June 2023

I've had this reservoir for a little more than a year and it's gone on dozens and dozens of hikes with no problems whatsoever. The key is to take care of it and to use common sense when you're handling it. It's made of an elastomer that will break if you're too rough with it. This model in particular is a little more fragile than the other Osprey reservoirs because it doesn't have a rigid back plate to it, so keep that in mind if you think you might be at risk of damaging it with normal use. Also, keeping it dry between uses is the key to keeping it clean. There are a handful of YouTube videos that go through how to rinse out the whole thing from start to finish and I'd recommend watching one or two of them if you've never owned one of these before. Osprey Hydraulics 3L Reservoir
21 April 2023

Like all other sizes of the Osprey Hydraulics Reservoirs this one does what it needs to.There isn't a great deal to say about the item, the magnet is handy for keeping it in place when attached to your bags chest strap and the bite valve works well and has a twist lock to stop drops when not in use.The main points I'd like to mention are more about the service I've received which was excellent. The initial product was faulty, I sent a video of the issue and a replacement was promptly sent to me and this one worked just fine. I'm mentioning this because I hadn't used this company before and when I discovered the initial fault I was delighted dubious about the next steps however they handled it professionally and I would certainly recommend them. Thank you.

Quick release connector is unreliable
18 May 2023

I've had problems with the quick release connector between the reservoir and the drinking tube since I bought the unit. As a result, I've sucked and not gotten any water, and water already within the drinking tube has leaked into my bag. Will return it. Not sure if I'll go for a replacement. Other "cons": 1. the structure makes the system heavy. I think there might be lighter alternatives for this purpose. 2. There's no internal structure to facilitate air drying. And 3. the bag had a distinctly plasticy taste for the first few uses (not a big deal). On the Plus side, and the reason I bought the system in the first place: the mouthpiece is the most convenient and leak-free of several brands I've tried.

The fold-and-seal method is far superior!

I used this every day over the course of three field seasons in the desert, as well as on backpacking trips, day trips, and camping. After filling, carrying, using, and refilling this thing hundreds of times, I have a pretty good understand of its strengths and weaknesses.Pros:- Easy and not-frustrating fold-and-seal closure method- Good seal, does not leak even under pressure- The mid-hose disconnect feature is convenient and does not leakCons:- Blue handle is awkward to hold- Cannot hold bladder with one hand while fillingMeh:- The rigid back is supposed to make it easier to slip into a backpack, but it is not rigid enough for that. There is a little bit of rigidity that helps in this regard a little bit, but not enough.I have tried other bladders with the screw-mouth, and filling and closing those was always so frustrating. Lining up the threads was always difficult, and sometimes you didn't seal it right and the thing would leak everywhere. This bladder has a much simpler, and safer, fold-and-seal method that works much better overall.I also like that the hose has a disconnect halfway through, which means you can disconnect the part of the hose threaded through your backpack strap and then take out just the bladder without having a hose waggling around. I did not think I would use this feature very much, but I actually use it all the time. What I do not like about this bladder is the blue handle. Because of where it is placed and how it is shaped, it is really awkward to hold it with one hand. And holding it from this handle does not allow the top of the bag to open up to allow water in. This means you cannot hold the bladder with one hand while filling it :(. This is one case in which the bladders with the screw-mouth lid are better - they are easier to hold one handed while you fill.I would give 3.5 stars if I could. My biggest dissapointment is that it can't be filled one-handed.

Works great until it doesn't

I was super happy with this initially, but in/around ~3-6 months of use, it started to spring leaks faster than I could plug them. It initially started with a couple of holes on the top/rear of the bladder, which I'll go ahead and blame on airline baggage handling (despite it being empty and in the bladder pocket of a solid pack). I was able to get those fixed with some globs of super glue, but within another couple weeks, another two tears/holes appeared lower towards the bottom rear, which was right around the same time I started having issues with both the quick connect socket and mouthpiece. Same drill- I was able to fix those with glue only to have ANOTHER leak appear between the seam of the rigid plate and the bladder. Shortly after, the quick connect fitting stopped wanting to stay in the hose at all and ended up coming loose during a winter excursion, soaking my sleeping bag & mid-layer 8 miles from the car. Can't recommend this bladder at all. At its best, it was persistently annoying, and at its worst, it was partially responsible for a hazardous cold-weather situation (although I'll take my share of the blame for not throwing it away after reaching the halfway mark on my superglue tube).
