Deceiving Color

I ordered this pack because I was so happy with my Osprey Stratos that I recently took out west. The unfortunate thing, and the reason for my 3 star review, is simply the deceiving color scheme in the pictures. It may seem petty to some, but when placing an order I’m sure most are putting consideration into the color they choose. This is the beauty of having options to choose from. Unfortunately, the Armor Grey color is more of a dark blue with a light blue secondary color. The pictures appear to be more of the Osprey Anchor Grey color which is completely different when you see them in person. I have the Nebula in Anchor Grey and the color is exactly as it is pictured and I couldn’t be happier with it. I have the Nebula in Anchor Grey and the color is exactly as it is pictured and I couldn’t be happier with it. I actually wrote into Osprey with this issue and their tech team adjusted the pictures on their website to better represent the color the Armor Grey. That being said, these packs are fantastic. I did not get to use mine to give a thorough review but I did look it over before I returned it. The materials are well designed and reinforced where appropriate. The zipper pulls provide a feeling of confidence in opening and closing where you won’t be afraid of busting a seam. The storage compartments were very easy to access and well organized. For a daily use/school pack you can’t go wrong. The bunge cords on the front are functional whether you’re taking this pack on the trail and need to carry some water shoes for the lake, or if you’re heading to class and want an extra sweater. Overall if you’re looking for a day pack that serves its purpose as a quality piece of equipment you can’t go wrong with the Quasar. Osprey offers an option for nearly any feature or size of pack that you would want.As a final word of caution, be very careful ordering the Armor Grey. I recommend looking this color up online before ordering because even after the website adjustment, you will not receive a pack that looks like the pictures. These can be a deal breaker for you as much as it was for me. I’ll attach a picture of the pack I received so you are aware of what the Armor Grey color really is.Summary:Pros: Great pack, high quality materials, should hold up very well and has an excellent warranty. Also, ordering from MooseJaw is going to add an extra level of top-notch customer service.Cons: The color I ordered is not anything like the color Osprey provides in their pictures. Their tech team made an adjustment to the advertised picture of this color but it still isn’t accurate. Be careful with Armor Grey.

However, after loading it with a laptop. a few files, and a couple hardback books, it certainly did not feel like an Osprey. As I walked around, the bottom of the laptop felt like it was digging into my body. I tried adjusting the straps and the height, but that didn't change the angle of how the laptop was stored. Other packs solve this by thicker or more structured backing, and/or a more snug laptop compartment.I don't know if it's just this model, or if it is the entire 24/SEVEN series. It feels like they were trying to lower the price point by compromising on basic bag construction, i.e., durable materials, comfort. It's not that it's a "bad" bag, but rather, it's just not an Osprey. It feels more like a second-rate Adidas bag you find at Marshall's or TJ Maxx. I think this bag would be fine for very light use, but as soon as you load it with a 15" laptop and a couple books, it becomes evident that this bag was not made to comfortably carry a load.Very disappointed, but that could be my fault for setting expectations too high. I will be returning this bag.

Great travel and day hiking pack.
30 November 2021

I use this for traveling. Fully loaded, it fits nicely under the seat in front of me during air travel. Once I get to where I'm going, I can remove the packing cubes I use to employ the pack for hiking or sightseeing. It's durable and high quality in every way...material, zippers, construction etc.I would recommend this pack to anyone who wants to travel light. It can handle 3-4 day trips if you're a minimalist, and it's a nice complement to a carry-on bag for much longer trips. We use it every time we travel.

Nice little bag

Nice EDC bag. While bags production quality is lowered these days, and prices are going up, I really do feel the price is more than adequate for this one (77 Euro). Thanks to Trekkinn as well for keeping good prices. My first choice when buying new gear.

Spacious backpack that is neither too big nor too small
22 October 2018

As the title says, this pack is the right size for my use, which is mainly commute and travel. The pack is comfortable even when fully packed. The main compartment has a large zipper which is easily opened and closed. My 14" Thinkpad easily slides in and out of the laptop pocket (it can fit 15" notebook). There is a smaller pocket that I use for envelopes, folders and Kindle. The rest of the main compartment can fit everything else I need for commute, including a midlayer jacket or a sweater. I haven't tried hiking with it; however, it seems it would do well in that capacity, too. I knocked out one start because the water bottle sleeve is somewhat flimsy, so my water bottle sometimes falls out. All in all, a decent multi use pack that I would but again.

Super durable mid-sized frontcountry bag
23 August 2021

I needed a "work backpack" that would hold my daily carries (laptop, planner, books, charging cables and small electronics) as well as a rotating selection of knitting projects, extra layers, snacks, or general odds and ends. I also needed something that would hold up well to being tossed around in the back of my car, an ambulance (aka my office), roadside, or whatever other abusive situation I could put it in. Having loved my Osprey hiking pack for years I splurged on this one, and I've been very satisfied; it's super well made and I can tell it'll last for years, it's the perfect size for a "daily carry", and the laptop sleeve keeps my computer snug and safe from whatever else I stuff in there. It's durable enough that I would have a problem using it for day hikes, should the need arise. The only thing I wish was different is that the biggest main pocket has two zipper pulls, but the second main pocket only has one and it makes accessing the organizational compartment a little harder occasionally. No real complaints, though, and the blue/orange is a great color!

Survival Knife & Ice Axe Front Attachments
15 September 2019

Backpack securely holds survival knife with sleeve and ice axe on bungee front along with wire twist anchors bought separately. Bag has many sections with diverse uses. Holds my four season tent and sleeping bag with other basic travel conveniences. I like the padding for devices, the large front shoulder strapes, and the quilty invested into the final design in this bag. I use it weekly and it keeps holding more desired supplies. I recomment this bag. Margie, Ma Chism"Packed!" MaC

i use it everyday for past 8 years, for bike commuting to work, for traveling in the plane, for ultra endurance cycling. it has proven to be a very reliable, bombproof backpack, which only has one small defect- it is not fully waterproof, but it has not been designed to be one. it can withstand a moderate rain for a prolongedperiod of time, so it is a great choice unless you go to scottish mountains during the autumn :)
