I am a huge fan of Osprey bags for camping/hiking/etc. This one is no different. It is a great bag that is really well designed and really well constructed. It is a great hiking backpack but can definitely be used on a day to day. The only word of warning I would give (which is actually a compliment), is that you have to be careful to find the right fit. It is amazing that they make this backpack in multiple sizes, and make a women's version in multiple sizes too. Once you find the right one for you it will fit perfectly. Not many backpacks make different sizes to find the perfect fit. Bravo Osprey!

This backpack is exactly what I was looking for. I use it as my everyday back to and from work and there is more than enough space for that. When my family and I go on excursions it holds all the necessities and some. I have two young boys and it keeps all their stuff (Diaper's, bottles and toys) and mine with ease. I was surprised to see that the outer flexible sleeve will hold my 64oz hydro flask as well. The pack is extremely comfortable and the build in back support makes all the difference in the world. I anticipated having a sore back from carrying a heavy back but the back support and straps do all the work for me. I have used the ice pick holder as a fishing pole holder and it fits like a dream. Highly recommend this pack!!

Having used much lighter packs that were always a compromise in some way, and heavier, more luxurious models that were never worth the extra weight, I'm a little mad at myself that I didn't give this pack a try earlier in my "career".My only gripes are that as much as I appreciate having a brain instead of zippers or a roll-top, it is permanently attached on the shoulder strap side, and can look a little disheveled when the pack is compressed. (You can loop bungee the pole holders together to meet in the middle and hold it down for a tidier look.) It'd be great to be able to fit a foam sleeping pad beneath a floating brain for overnights instead of being limited to just smaller items like jackets.

With this model, the size is just what I was looking for, and I appreciated the adjustable torso length. I can't understand why they designed a 'fast and light' style pack like this with placement of the side water bottle pockets which makes them impossible to reach while hiking. They could have added a side entrance to those pockets, as they do on the Aether and Atmos models. The tiny, weird pocket on the shoulder strap also seems pretty useless, and a waste of valuable space that could have been used for a larger, stretch pocket which could actually hold a smartphone or GPS. I've only used the pack for traveling to this point and will use for hiking in a few weeks. The overall pack is well constructed. The top loading pack holds a good amount of gear, last trip held 4 days of clothes for traveling. For a long day hike or light overnight, should do well.I purchased the 3L bladder and will be curious to see how much storage that consumes. I anticipate a decent amount of loss if full.The bag is comfortable with good adjustment through the shoulders and hips/waist.Side Adjusters allow the pack to compression and stay tight to your torso.Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase.
I purchased this pack and an Osprey hydraulics bladder for a recent climb up Kilimanjaro. The pack itself worked well, was comfortable and made it to the summit. However the external bladder sleeve was not easy to use. It took a lof of fiddling each morning to get the bladder into the sleeve which I did not appreciate in the cold at 4600m. Maybe it was the bladder but I was concerned about tghe thiung failing whne trying to get it into the sleeve. The pack seems to have too much material and too small and opening at the top of the sleeve. Other thna that it would be nice if there was another compartment in the main bag and a rain cover. I would not use this pack again for a climb like Kilimanjaro. Probably best for weekend day trips on easy trails.

I want to get an ice axe just now just so I can attach it even though I don't think I would get much use here in San Francisco. I think it also has a lifetime warranty.
I bought the latest Talon 22 as an upgrade to the previous version. The new pack looked cosmetically similar and had the features that would made it my go-to for commuting by bike. Unfortunately Osprey have tinkered too much and killed a great design. 1. The rigid frame sheet is uncomfortable and I’d question why you need this feature on a lightweight day pack? I’ve never suffered from back problems but felt discomfort in my lower back after a few commutes with this pack. 2. The pocket on the shoulder strap has been removed. It was super useful to carry a small torch. 3. The hip belt isn’t as breathable or as comfortable as before. Suffice to say, I returned this latest version and bought a couple of the previous versions for future use.

The structure of the back is great and the curve towards the bottom sits perfectly in the small of my back and the weight is comfortably carried on the hips. I get the feeling the structure and design aid a more correct posture and prevent slouching towards the end of a tough day. I use the pack with a 2l bladder and have more than enough space for full days or light overnights. In fact, this would be my ideal bag for multi-day hikes such as the Camino de Santiago.Very satisfied with the pack and I appreciate the smaller details such as the zip pulls etc.
I hesitated for a while before buying the talon 22 in black. Wish i bought it sooner! I used it for a 3 day enduro bike packing trip on the MTB. Strictly speaking it's not a biking specific pack however it is so comfortable and adjustable for riding. The standout feature is probably the comfort, adjustability and support of the pack. All the other features work super good. If i was being highly critical the mesh pocket on the should strap is a bit useless (would love to fit phone in that location). I think it's meant for a gel.
