I was looking for a ~20 litre pack and struggling to decide, so I bought ALL the Osprey ~20l packs (over £1,000) so I could try them all. They all offered something I liked but you know I couldn't find one that ticked every box for me, this Talon 11 ticked most!Pros- It seems bigger than 11 litres. I was able to put almost as much gear in this as some of their 20 litre packs- It looks narrow and neat on your back, not big and bulky- It's very comfortable- It's not as hot and sweaty as I thought it would be (I wanted a trampoline back)- The hip pockets are big enough to be usable (some other bags are big enough for just a car key, literally!)- Stow on the go walking pole holders work wellCons- The bladder pocket is flawed and needs to be redesigned. It is very difficult to get an Osprey bladder in there (I'm using the narrower blue one) as the bladder is wider than the space, caused by the load lifter straps being in the way. Yes you can loosen the straps, or even remove them, but this is a faff. Also, the strap that supports the bladder has been sewn onto the soft flexible part of the bag rather than the stiff back support. This means when you have 1-2 kilos of water in there the weight pulls down and distorts the top the bag making it look a right mess.- No integrated rain cover.I've used this bag on two ultra challenges now, both were 100km continuous walks. They stow on the go worked well, I was frequently putting my poles back in the loops and found I could do this without even stopping or slowing down just by leaving the poles fully extended. The hip pockets were accessible and big enough for extra snacks. The bag didn't make my back too sweaty (I was expecting it to), being small and narrow probably helped this. And it was comfortable. I will be modifying the bladder support strap myself. It would be nice to have an integrated rain cover, I know their hiking specific bags have one, but this is not a big deal for me as I have a separate one from another bag, and I can leave it at home if the weather is great.

As soon as I got this bag I was stoked! But didn’t want to write a review until I had a chance to really try it. After spending 2 months hiking in Idaho,Wyoming, Montana I have to say I love this bag and all the features! The size is kinda big for a day pack, But that’s what I was looking for. I purposely overloaded this bag With hammocks, Helinox chairs, stove etc to have epic picnics in Glacier, GTNP, and Yellowstone and it carried well. Did several hammock overnight trips in it with a ton of room to spare. Features are smart, what you would expect from Osprey. Has all the features of a heavy haul pack in a size 44L. Sizing is generous Got the L,XL and it fits really well. The only changes I would make and it’s not enough to shave a star off is I would have liked ... MoreAs soon as I got this bag I was stoked! The only changes I would make and it’s not enough to shave a star off is I would have liked a longer zipper on the lid, there’s plenty of room in the brain just the access zipper is a little short which is a little tough getting things out. Also the side stretchy pockets have 2 access points, the angled ones work great however when you put your Nalgene in vertically it’s a little tough getting it out, especially when pack is loaded. Overall If your an oz counter and minimalist, this bag may not be for you. If you want a comfy bag with loads of features check this one out!

It's light and fairly scalable. I bought it for multi-day hikes and it is performing really well. It has loads of convenient features which make doing things on the move easier. Because of the scalability it still feels suitable if you set up a base camp and go out for day hikes from there.
Great build quailty, lovely rain cover but after 2-3 hours it becomes too uncomfortable to wear. Its survived falls, drops, rain, snow and still looks new. The padding is there and works with a lighter load and is more comforable with 2-5kg of weight.
Great multi day, I packed a quilted sleeping bag, tent, trekking poles, water supply, weeks worth of food supply, weeks worth of socks and undershirts, two pants and various other items. They all fit great and the adjustment straps make everything well balanced. I got the smaller size, but I wouldn’t recommend the smaller size unless you’re really petite. This is coming from someone who is short; I have trouble getting my arms through the arm straps.
Perfect pack for day hiking and short camping trips with its incredible amount of adjustable counterparts. Straps don't rub. Pack doesn't "crawl" up your back.Pockets on hips large enough for phone, or a couple of snacks, yet small enough that they don't abrade the inside of your forearms. Pockets on shoulder straps fits hand sanitizer. Fits enough gear for changing temperatures/altitude/conditions and "essentials" on daylong trips.
As said, it looks, this backpack hits the right spot for those who wants a single backpack both for light journeys and multi-day hikes. It is pretty lightweight and well organized. I like the top compartment being separate from the backpack, so you can carry some extra stuff, rope for example. Big side and back pockets, comfortable lumbar belt. I may regret that I haven't got a red color, but in blue it looks beautiful as well.Osprey does good and quality products.
The product description describes the "Talon 44 was designed with ultralight multi-day adventures and travelers in mind.", and for that reason I have to citizen this pack.Backpacking packs generally fall into two camps, ultralight and minimal, or bulky and overbuilt. Unfortunately falls into the latter camp. For the small/medium being just 42 liters, I'm surprised it weighs nearly three pounds, the is actually heavier that the previous version of this pack that I read reviews for. What I do like about it is that it's made of bluesign-approved recycled material, the trekking pile holding feature is convenient, and the combination of the Airscape backpanel and hop pads feel nice with how they hug your body. What I do care for with the pack is that it just has too ... MoreThe product description describes the "Talon 44 was designed with ultralight multi-day adventures and travelers in mind.", and for that reason I have to citizen this pack.Backpacking packs generally fall into two camps, ultralight and minimal, or bulky and overbuilt. The side stretch panels annoying with the compression straps that just get in the way and make it difficult to insert/remove 1 liter plastic bottles from them. The pack was clearly intended for the use of a hydration bladder. The bottom access panel is useless once you place add a pack liner to the bag and I'm afraid the zipper hardware is going to tear a hole in the sleeping bag. The combination of the brain and cinch cord access make it a pain to access the main compartment. And lastly, there are straps everywhere and it's not made clear what connects to what.I ultimately decided to return this to REI and and instead purchased a much more minimalist and lighter pack from another company which had a well thought out design for a ultralight multi-day backpacker.
I use this bag every day for the last few years, its wearing pretty well nothing has broken with a lot of heavy use and hardly any signs of age yet. Ideal for work, hike or holiday. Great all round day bag small enough to always have on you and not feel encumbered with anything to excessive. Overall I am extremely happy with this purchase and would buy again once mine becomes past repair or uncomfortable due to age.
