Took this On The Way. Hiking about 10 miles a day. Held enough water with a Camel bladder and a large plastic canteen. Plenty of space for snacks, rain jacket and treasures along the way. The hip straps kept all the weight off my shoulders. It felt more like air than heavy. It’s a superior pack, saw lots of them on the trail as well.

Osprey makes great equipment. Quality does not disappoint. I had the Daylite pack and upgraded. The Tempest 20 is sized for basic day hike. Held rain gear, snacks and two liters of water easily. I especially like the belt pockets which held my phone and snacks with easy access. The cinch system worked great for me, keeping it from rocking or sagging over the miles. I think there is some special padding that kept my back from being too sweaty which was nice. You won’t be disappointed.

Needed a new daypack for hiking, and this exceeded my hopes. I recently got a new dog and needed something a bit bigger to carry her things in addition to mine, and even when full, this pack is comfortable and supportive. When the pack is empty, it has enough structure to maintain shape and doesn't fold in on itself like some other packs. I also really like the pocket on the hip belt for quick access to pup treats, or human treats.

I really wanted this daypack and… it’s awesome. Unfortunately it didn’t fit and thus became uncomfortable. I ordered a size large, because I’m 174 cm tall and I thought that would do it. It didn’t. Later I checked the sizing table on Osprey’s own website and discovered my torso length was bigger than this backpack would accomodate. I don’t have the link here, but please check your torso length before ordering. Otherwise: top quality and well thought over details. If it fits, go for it!
The Osprey Tempest 20L pack replaces a 25L pack from another manufacturer. I really like the 2 hip-belt zipper pockets, the ability to quickly stow my hiking poles while on the go, and this pack seems lighter than my previous one. I'm short but have a long torso so I purchased the M/L. It fits well, and I really like the ventilation provided by the AirScape back panel. However, there are 2 things that are just "meh". As others have noted, it's difficult to get a filled 3L water bladder into the space in the back. If I only fill my bladder to 1.5 L, I can wiggle it in, but a full 3L is more problematic. For shorter hikes, I put 2 water bottles into the side stretch-mesh pockets. Otherwise, I really like the pack and have enjoyed using it.
Purchased this for the Tour du Mont Blanc - 10 days of hiking in France, Italy and Switzerland. Perfect backpack for the entire trip. Didn't need a large pack since we arranged baggage transfers nightly. No complaints the Tempest 20 was just the right size and was super comfortable.
After several months of use, I finally wanted to leave a review. I love this pack! It's perfect for a day hike and I love the positioning of the cross body buckles tailored for women (no straps across the boobs). It's super comfortable and holds a good amount of stuff on a hike. Very durable - I've brought it hiking, airplanes, cities, raft trips and more and it's held up perfectly. Lots of pocket space for stuff as well along with the large main pocket. I really like that you can put a water pack in too, although not included. I've recommended this pack to several friends because of how much I love it!
I bought this daypack for a ten-day trip to Yosemite, and used it for day hikes of 10-15 miles. It easily held an extra 32 oz Nalgene, extra layers, water shoes, lunch + snacks, first aid kit, and hiking poles. The fit was pretty good (better than using the Talon as a woman) although it took a few tries to get the torso length right. Stash pocket is great. Major cons: (1) for people with flexible lower backs, having the pack weight slightly off the body wasn't terrific. My low back wanted to arch and take the weight if I wasn't careful, and I felt a little offbalance climbing up large boulders. (2) Hip belt does not accommodate iPhone 12; since women's hiking pants don't have adequate pockets, I had to take my pack off whenever I took a photo. (3) Be sure you've adequately tightened your water bottle in the side pockets; it's futzy. As other reviews note, you can't reach the bottle with your pack on. In all, a sturdy pack that didn't leave my shoulders sore.
This is my third purchase of an Osprey day pack. My original one was a 9 litre and while I loved it, it was a little small especially if I was picking up groceries on my push bike. The second one I bought for my husband who loves it and this one is my new one. I use it practically every day. It is a great fit, has all the features I want and suits me whether I'm using it for hiking, travelling, biking, groceries or even returning library books. So very versatile.
It is almost impossible to get a water bladder into this pack. Maybe if you have tiny little girl hands and the strength of an ox you can get it in. Or maybe you fill your bladder from the hose and don't mind getting water all over your pack. Every time I think of using this pack I groan. The opening isn't even big enough for Ospreys water bladder slide closure! Who made this abomination? In addition, the few pockets it does have are on the awkward side of things. The water bladder opening is SO bad, I really believe it's only earned a one star review. The purple color is nice. It looks good on a hook in my garage when I pick one of my other backpacks to actually use for a trip.
