Osprey Transporter 65 - Travelbag

The mid-sized Osprey Transporter 65 duffel can serve as your everyday gear bag or as a checked travel duffel for far-ranging excursions. It is constructed of tough, water-resistant recycled fabric that repurposes plastic bottles that would otherwise go to waste. An integrated harness with an adjustable sternum strap that doubles as a safety whistle allows you to carry the duffel like a backpack and it safely stows away when not needed or when you're checking the bag or stowing it in an overhead. Four padded handles allow you to grab the duffel however you find most convenient. The 3900+ cubic inch weather-protected main compartment is accessed through a large, lockable U-shaped zipper (lock not included). There is also an internal zippered mesh pocket and a zippered end pocket for items you want to put hands on quickly. Multiple attachment points allow you to lash gear externally. The main body of the duffel utilizes bluesign-approved 900D PFC-free DWR TPU-coated recycled polyester with 600D versions of that same material utilized on the bottom and as accents. This grants the duffel excellent weather-resistance and long-lived durability. The Osprey Transporter 65 duffel is available in your choice of colors.

Great Gear Bag

Initially purchased as just a duffel bag for carrying lots of anything, but the deployable back pack straps make this so much more versatile for travelling. Delivers on the quality you’d expect from Osprey. Great knowing it’s pretty water proof too: seeing your bag being loaded onto the plane in the pouring rain on the tarmac but arriving bone dry inside when you got to your destination was great. If there was a down side, it could do with some extra face handles but it is a duffel bag after all, and a great one at that!

Great to Use When you Can't Use a Rolling Bag

There are many places where a rolling bag doesn't make sense, bumpy pavement, cobble stone streets, no streets to roll a bag. This is very helpful. Used it for my Italy trip from the airport to the hotel locations. Used a smaller backpack for my day trips. If you need to haul alot of stuff to/from your transportation facility to your hotel, this is great.

Pros: material is great, weather resistant, feels nice and is relatively light. Compared to the yeti duffel and Northface base camp voyager I found the osprey to have the best materials all around. I also like the dimensions of the osprey more than the Northface. Northface was too wide for me personally. Yeti had great features but just a relatively bulky heavier bag than Northface or Osprey. The grab handles are premium as are the backpack straps. Main opening and zipper are great.Cons: I really would have liked one more small compartment or the pocket on the end to be larger and have a wet compartment for clothes/shoes.Apparently this bag used to come with a shoulder strap but doesn’t anymore. I bought my own separately but had to use zip ties as loops around ... MorePros: material is great, weather resistant, feels nice and is relatively light. Huge Duffel Bag for Travel Needs!
16 February 2018

I first got the bag and was surprised it all fit in the packaging. I think all packed the size of a clipboard. It came with a storage bag (great space saver), backpack straps attached and optional side strap. The backpack straps can be unclipped from the bottom and stored in the top pocket when not in use if you are using it as a sling bag. I prefer using it as a backpack if it's fully loaded to reduce back/shoulder issues. The backpack straps are really comfortable the only draw back is that it does not have a waist strap but it does have a chest strap. This duffel bag is great for all type of uses. Great for multiple days of travel depending on what you plan on carrying. I have not tried yet but by the looks of it, it's way too big to be a carry on. Great for multiple days of travel depending on what you plan on carrying. I have not tried yet but by the looks of it, it's way too big to be a carry on. A great positive of the bag is that the sling strap can easily be detached and the backpack straps can be hidden so when you check in your bag, the straps will most likely not catch on to anything.Another positive is that since it's a duffel bag you can open and easily grab items verses most backpacking backpacks where its a giant stuff sack and you need to take everything out to get items on the bottom. There is plenty of space to carry all my gym clothing, equipment (small foam roller, bands, wraps...etc), and still have plenty of space.I stuffed all my camping gear in there which included: Sleeping bag, 2 person (tent sticks included), folded sleeping pad, 1 set of clothes (socks, underwear, shirt, jacket, pants), small camping stove, gas, small cooking pot, 2 dehydrated meals, 3L water pack (Fits inside the same pocket on the top flap), wipes, headlamp, and snacks. All of this fit INSIDE the bag! I still had some more space if I needed to add more items. I personally would not use it for camping because it does not have enough quick access pockets to get items. If you need to get an all around bag for travel, gym, camping this bag is pretty good. I am giving it 4 stars because of the lack of ventilation for my back and waist support.

Quality Duffel
23 July 2023

Recently purchased the transporter 65 duffel and as with all the osprey bags I own I am extremely pleased with it. The bag comes in a handy little packing bag for storage, once opened it’s clear that this is a top quality item. It’s robustly built yet light and easy to carry, thanks to the straps/carrying system. Osprey just seem to get it right and the thought/attention to detail in my view is unmatched by any other brand.

Review of Osprey Transporter Duffel Travel Bag
23 June 2023

Pro - Good sturdy bag size perfect size for fortnight away. Survived airport baggage handlers well. Easy access to contents through opening. Nice looking bag. Storage bag brilliant addition.Con - when full, found bag a little too heavy to lift up onto my shoulders easily. (I’m a mature woman of reasonable fitness).

Surprisingly robust
28 March 2023

I was surprised at how well made and robust this bag actually is. The only exception to what is stated in the description is that the bag doesn't actually include a shoulder strap, I don't even need one since backpack harnesses can do the job instead. 65 L gives you plenty of room for longer trips and I plan to use it to carry my complete climbing gear to the climbing wall, with room left over for some extra stuff. I would recommend this bag to anyone.

Tough and roomy, weatherproof duffel
9 April 2023

This duffel is great for travel where you want a minimalist bag offering just a couple pockets (one internal and one external) and one giant compartment for you to dump everything. This allows you to maximize space usage by minimizing how much space and weight the bag itself takes up. The way the bag is not rigid also allows it to be squished and shaped to fit into plane compartments, assuming you don't pack it too full. Since the body of the bag is almost entirely TPU laminated polyester, it is weatherproof and also easy to clean. The easy conversion to a backpack greatly eases the effort for carrying. One thing to keep in mind is that the current version of the duffel is different from what you see in many reviews/videos online and changed sometime in the past 1-2 ... MoreThis duffel is great for travel where you want a minimalist bag offering just a couple pockets (one internal and one external) and one giant compartment for you to dump everything. The easy conversion to a backpack greatly eases the effort for carrying. One thing to keep in mind is that the current version of the duffel is different from what you see in many reviews/videos online and changed sometime in the past 1-2 yrs (I have the older version too). The current one has a softer outer material which is both thicker/heavier feeling but also much more prone to showing scratches/scuffs. It is more glossy than the previous one which was very matte and also more rigid. The current material is uniform throughout the body whereas the previous version had a ballistic nylon for the bottom half which is much more rugged and less prone to scratches. The current one also has more prominent logos whereas the previous, especially for the black one, had a much more subtle look where the logos were darker and blended in. The current version also lacks the shoulder strap and associated attachment points, but the backpack straps are beefier which is generally good but does make them use more space and slightly more difficult to set up and tuck away. Overall I like the previous version better, mostly b/c of the look/feel of materials used, but the current one is still very good and it's hard to find an alternative that offers almost the same things as this bag.

Well Built, Stylish Duffle/Backpack
1 May 2023

This is a rugged well constructed duffle/backup with an attractive unique look. The Venturi Blue looks great without standing out too much. I wish it had a mesh pocket on the interior of the flap and the fact this model no longer comes with a shoulder strap diminishes it's utility but that wasn't the mode of carry I was mainly interested in. The shoulder straps are well made and have a yoke and a sternum strap which is a necessity imo. I got this over the Patagonia Black Hole 40L for those reasons and was not disappointed.

duffle style that we love, weighs very little and holds a to
3 September 2023

The Osprey Transporter 65 can fit a lot of stuff in the cavernous bag 2 weeks of clothes for a summer vacation in Thailand. I used 4 medium packing cubes. The contoured shoulder straps are well-padded and are supplemented with a chest strap and load lifter straps. The entire backpack harness stows away in a zippered compartment for low-profile transport through the airport baggage handling process. It can get pretty heavy and bulky though when fully stuffed. Disappointed no traditional carry handles or shoulder strap.
