I ordered this after ordering my Google Pixel 3 XL. I had no idea that there would be a problem with wireless charging with the Google Stand (wireless charger). A huge mistake on my part. While the case is a good case, it's totally useless if I want to put it on the wireless changing stand. I definitely would not have ordered this particular case if I had known that ahead of time. Otter Box should put a disclaimer in the description for the Defender about wireless charging.I've sent two complaints about it, using Otter Box's web submission form and have yet to receive any answer at all.

I've been a big fan of Otterbox cases. I've bought them for my family's phones for my Samsung and LG phones, and now the Pixel 3 XL. The protection is in the best and I've dropped my phone onto the concrete and the case has protected the phone flawlessly. The only gripe I have is how the phone clips onto belt clip. Before I say anything more, this is NOT a design flaw or Otterbox's fault. This issue caused is how the Pixel's volume button's volume control placement is on the phone. It is smack in the middle of the side of the phone. Because of this, Otterbox has had to offset the tab that holds the phone into the belt clip. This means if you are right handed person and need to put the phone into the holder, the phone is upside down when you put it in and draw it ... MoreI've been a big fan of Otterbox cases. The case offers the best protection. But because of the button placement on the Pixel 3 XL and probably the 3, this case is pretty much only functional for lefties.

Case is durable and does what it's designed to do. Nothing fancy but happy with it. However, my phone was getting overheat warnings when I left it in vehicle for an hour or so. Outside temp was 80 degrees. My other phone, with no case, never gets overheated. So the only negative is that the case retains heat produced by phone. I just can't leave it in vehicle anymore! No biggie.

I've been in love with Otterbox Defender cases since my first one. I would go around and tell people how awesome they were and to buy them. The reason is that it was an amazing experience. I would break two phones a year and haven't since I bought my first Otterbox Defender case. But this one is MISSING THE SCREEN PROTECTION!!!!The case no longer keeps the phone safe because the screen is unprotected. I'm so upset about it because I loved Otterbox Defender cases so much and the peace of mind that they brought. Plus, breaking phones is costly.Customer service claimed that they skipped the screen because customers prefer it. If someone pays the money for a Defender case and carries that huge bulky thing around, they only care about protection. They don't care ... MoreI've been in love with Otterbox Defender cases since my first one. I would go around and tell people how awesome they were and to buy them. I've always wanted an OtterBox but never wanted to throw that much money at a case. I've decided its well worth it. I'm very clumbsy, most aestheticly pleasing cases don't hold up to my unintentional destruction. This case feels great in my hands, it's large but that makes it easier for me to hold on to, and it still fits in the stupidly small back pockets of female jeans. I drop my phone a lot less because of it's size and outside material, I love the grip, I love the weight. I love the coverage. I also think it looks really cool. I dont use the clip often, but it's handy when I'm hiking. I clip it to my backpack. I'm super happy with my purchase. Definitely getting these for all future phones.
I have used the Otterbox defender for years for its outstanding protection and holster since I am not the slip it in your pocket kind of guy. The new defender is screenless and I wanted screen protection at least from scratches. The defender case must be modified to use the Zagg invisible shield for the Pixel 3 XL. At the bottom where the dip is for the speaker, you need to Dremel about 1/32 of an inch off so the case doesn't pinch the shield and cause it to buckle and lift. The case doesn't work with the Pixel stand. Will not slow charge and keeps dropping out of rapid charge to not charging till the phone doesn't talk to the stand any more and the orange light comes on Still great protection if that is what you really are interested in.
After having an Otterbox case or my Pixel for over 2 years, I was excited to get a new one. Unfortunately, it is not what I expected. I know the name of the product has "screenless" in it, but the description on the website is unclear and the pictures on the website make it look like there is some sort of screen protection. I just don't understand this product or why there is no option for a case with a screen protector built into the Otterbox. To be fair, I haven't used the product yet, but have been unhappy since I opened the box and have been debating sending it back...
My new Pixel 3 (not the XL) is a super durable creature. In most day-to-day activities, I don't use a cover. After a month, it is still blemish-free.However, it is super slippery. In fact, it is so slippery that it wants to slide out of the "X-Grip" phone holder on my motorcycle's handlebars. That means on trips where I want to use it as a GPS, I am live in constant fear it will fall out. On a motorcycle, that is certain death for the phone, because the next stop is pavement (or trail, I ride that way) and a tumble for dozens of yards. The Otterbox Defender is perfect for this use. It is the opposite of slippery... it is grippy. It is also fat enough to make my skinny Pixel 3 wide for the X-Grip that I bought for my OG Pixel XL. It is the opposite of slippery... it is grippy. It is also fat enough to make my skinny Pixel 3 wide for the X-Grip that I bought for my OG Pixel XL. In the several trips I've made so far, the Otterbox-encased phone hasn't budged a single iota.I am not a huge fan of the belt-clip piece, because as a muffin-top, it bites into my overhang. It works perfectly, of course, and the fault is all mine by being big. While I can fit the entire thing in my pocket, the aforementioned grippiness makes getting in and out of my pocket a nuisance. So, I have gained a lot of practice in taking the Otterbox off and putting it back on: off for day-to-day, on for "dangerous" situations like going to the zoo. There has not been any issue at all with fitment or excess tightness or sloppiness; the Otterbox hugs the phone just enough.Speaking of the zoo, we went to see Christmas lights there. The Pixel 3 has this fabulous "Night Sight" feature that takes unbelievable photos in pitch black. See the example below. The point here is that the cover does not occlude any of the lens. The mode needs a second or more of the aperature being open, so if there was any part being blocked, you would see it cloudy. Thus, the image perfectly demonstrates that the cover openings do not impair photography at all. I've had covers that do, and I know the aggravation.TLDR; the Otterboox Defender for the Pixel 3 is faultless.
The case is obviously very solid, very protective, has expansive fingerprint area on the back for super convenience. I use a SAMSUNG fast charger stand to charge my device and with this case installed the phone will not charge regardless if the phone is vertical or laid horizontal. I also have a screen protector on the phone purchased off that huge online website and the screen protector does not extend to the far edges of the screen and the case did raise portions of the screen protector. I'd advise this case if you're not using a screen protector or possibly a different wireless charger and definitley if you want maximum protection.
I have put an OtterBox product on every one of my cell phones and my iPad for as long as I can remember. They made a switch to a screenless product for the next Pixel phones. I assume it is because the Pixel 3 now has a squeeze function, of which I am also opposed.I hope OtterBox ends the screenless type and reinstitutes the screen cover into the build.Other than no screen protection, I've always been a fan of OtterBox and would like to be a fan again.Add the screen protection.
