Oxbow Harvest Stacks Western Timothy with Chamomile

Oxbow Harvest Stacks use special compression technology to transform 100% all-natural, long-strand, hand-sorted Western Timothy hay into compact, convenient-to-feed portions which produce 80% less airborne dust than loose hay (Airborne dust particle testing is performed in a controlled environment and measures milligrams of dust per liter of air). Feed Harvest Stacks as a primary hay source or supplement with loose hay to encourage enrichment. Contains no binders, and is 100% hand selected and sorted hay. Harvest Stacks make a great feeding option when traveling or anytime storage space is limited. Chamomile adds a sweet smell and encourages consumption and foraging instincts.

A Guinea Pig Favorite!

Scotty with the Scotty’s Animals YouTube channel recommended these. I thought, what’s so great about some compressed hay stacks? The piggies LOVE them! They get about as excited about these as they do their veggies. I can tell they greatly enjoy tearing it apart and eating it. It’s good to give your guinea pigs some sort of enrichment treat like this that keeps them entertained for a while and is healthy for them. I highly recommend this.

Alot of Dust

Our boy has preferred the hay stacks over the years, but lately (at least 4-5 boxes, likely the others we bought as well) have been extremely dusty. Stacks are loosely packed and break open to mostly dust. We have layers of dust in our hay bucket and on his blanket that I have to scoop handfuls off to make it less risky for his lungs and nasal passage. In the past these were always more effort to break apart and were not so dusty. Our boy has chronic respiratory/heart issues so am hesitant to offer this anymore unless content changes. Besides, he is denying this now over another type of hay. I hope Oxbow will get quality control involved to remedy this.

At this point I don not think there are any worse hay you can find out there. This compressed hay was always been the most favorite food for my guinea pigs. But this batch was extremely bad. The only part that was ok were the dry carrots. The compressed hay itself was dark brown, smelled stale and was very extremely dusty. None of my seven guinea pigs touched it at all. I bought two boxes and still have most on it intact, since no one is eating it.Oxbow has expanded their products but went down in quality. I would not recommend this product to anyone

Fresh, tasty, and reliable
13 February 2023

While a bit more expensive than ye olde box/bag o' hay, I have to say that my bunny really digs these, and for the longevity alone, they're worth the value! The smell of alfalfa is really strong when you crack into each disk, and that freshness stays over time, as opposed to big boxes I have gotten that eventually get stale. Honey Bunny also nibbles through these very regularly, and they make way less of a mess than a big pile of hay did! Definitely a win.

Great rabbit enrichment & exercise
4 February 2024

Known affectionately as "hay hockey pucks" in my household, these compressed hay disks provide great enrichment for rabbits, forcing them to work more for their hay rather than just munching from a hay rack (though don't used these as a replacement for their normal hay, the more options the better!). A few of mine love flinging them halfway across the hutch and digging at them until they break apart. Glad they're still available on Chewy, as the pet stores near me have stopped carrying them.

Loose texture

The quality wasn't the best as compared to my past purchases from elsewhere (same brand). The one I received from you is a bit loose, or I should say it isn't as compact as it supposed to be. Bunnies not as enthusiastic to consume compared to previous experience. Despite this, my bunnies were able to produce nice big round golden poo as a result, therefore it's acceptable.

Normally a Good Product
2 October 2024

I have been ordering the Oxbow hays and grasses for my 2 Guinea pigs for years now and have been completely happy with the quality up until this particular box of compressed hay. The problem for me with this one box is that every single disk seems to fall apart without holding together. I usually run a thin chew proof metal wire through the middle of each disk and then have it hang from the top of the cage to allow the to cavies to have a bit of stimulation in thier hay and grass consumption but have been unable to with this aparticular box for whatever reason. First time it has happend to me in two years of using this product. One can still feed it to your pets but the whole idea of the compressed disk is then taken away. Our Guinea Pigs Love These
10 July 2024

We have 3 jumbo cages with 4 guinea pigs each, and all 12 of them love the hay stacks. They have fun pulling them apart, and they eat it right up. Initially I found the stacks to be difficult to unpack, and messy, because they are wrapped up tightly in cellophane, and the cellophane was hard to remove. But now I lay the whole unopened stack on a cutting board, and use a large knife to cut the stacks into their 6 pieces. I leave the cellophane on the unused pieces and put them in a storage bag. I remove the cellophane from the 6 pieces I am going to use as I put them in the cages.

Quality lower
2 April 2023

I have used Oxbow for over 11 years but lately all of the products are compromised in quality. These haystacks were always my favorite due to less mess but now they are very loosely packed and within days leave a huge mess all over the cage which also makes a litter change needed sooner as the hay is soiled. I will go back to small handfuls to keep the cage clean. Very disappointed because these haystacks used to make the cage have so little mess and I used to recommend them to everyone for that reason. Cutting corners is really effecting quality of many products I was used to for so long. If they want to use less hay, they should still pack them tight but make them smaller. It would make it good for bunnies still and keep the mess down.

great addition to normal timothy hay!
3 January 2023

My bun has her unlimited timothy hay, but she has always loved hay cubes in addition. I was always bummed that Oxbox doesn't sell hay cubes but this does the job, and the added chamomile is a nice touch. It is EXTREMELY messy (don't let the advertising mislead you), but I don't mind the clean up if it means my bun is happy. They're separated into these 4 "blocks" so I normally put a block of hay on a pee pad and let her go to town on it and she finishes it in 3 days. Will definitely be buying more and different varieties.
