My wife and I were visiting our local C&B recently after receiving a rewards bonus with no particular product in mind. When we noticed the OXO can opener, we were immediately intrigued by its design. We had been using a more conventional tool for many years that was in need of replacement, so it seemed sensible to use our reward for this one. we are both converts now and would not use anything else. The OXO severs the entire top of a can with minimal effort and results in two pieces without the dangerously sharp edges that we had with our old one. It's really a terrific product!

The can opener was very easy to use. It operates on top of the can which makes it easier to start and then cut the lid off. So many openers go around the outer edge and if it is not on there perfectly then the lid cannot be removed without going around two or three times. I really appreciated this opener and how it sat on the top of the can. The handle was easy to turn also.

OXO products rarely disappoint, and this one is really great. I got it for my 96 year old mother who rarely finishes a can of anything in one meal. She was easily able to turn the handle and remove the lid. Got a big smile when she saw how easy it was to replace the lid. Now she can dish out a portion of food without having to transfer the rest of the contents to another container. I don't know how durable it is, but she'll only be using it a couple of times a week, so I'm hoping it lasts a good long while. I'll be buying a couple more of these for other family members.

I really like this can opener and have used it so many times already. One of the best things about it is that it's so easy to turn and you don't get tired hands like you do with a conventional opener. I also love that I can put the lid back on the can and put it in the fridge if needed. It leaves no sharp edges and opens the can in just a few seconds. Would definitely recommend.
This is not my first can opener of this brand and kind. When it is new it works great. Cuts through the edge of a can like butter. What I like is besides not having any sharp edges is that you can replace the lid and it will actually seal the can for things you don't use up in one day. I took a star off because like everything else it will wear out and then it's a struggle to use it. The wheel will slip, it won't cut the first time and you have to go one or two more times around the can. While I do always replace it, I do not like the fact that this can opener has massive plastic handles that then end up in the landfill, because it is not recyclable (as far as I know). It would be nice if the company offered to refurbish, because it would just be a matter of ... MoreThis is not my first can opener of this brand and kind. When it is new it works great. I recently bought this item to replace one that I wore out after 21 years. Love the ergonomic handles and the turning device. I have arthritis and the larger handles work great! Works every time and no sharp edges on either the can or the lid once opened. I prefer a manual to an electric can opener because I don't like the noise of an electric or the sharp edges created or the device taking up counter space. Only drawback I have found is that the little grabber for picking up the lid off the can could be a little bit larger. Just hard for me to see to get it lined up on the edge of the can...Maybe it is just my old eyes!
OXO continues to make the best kitchen products. With age related arthritis I really appreciate the effortless operation and ease of use with this can opener. Handle and knob are large and easy to grip and turn. Takes very little effort to open any can. It does a smooth job and picks up the lid so your hands stay clean. Love it!
I didn’t think I would like this as it crimps the top of the can off. I had a little bit of trouble figuring out the beak to grab and pull the lid off. But once I figured that out, I love this can opener. My mother-in-law is getting one for Christmas. The only downside is squeezing the water out of tuna fish cans. With the ones that cut, you just press the lid inside the can easily. With this crimping, the can lid has to go in at an angle in order to press the water out. It’s a bit annoying but worth it- no risk of cutting myself. I did that often with a regular can opener.
I was a bit confused at first when I used it for the first time. I should say, I was secretly happy when my cat knocked my electric can opener off of the counter and broke it. It took up too much space for no more than I used it. I got this little bit ofagic and once I got the hang of it, I loved it. It's so easy to twist and I love that the cans are left with a dull edge thay won't cut me. It's a bit awkward but after you open your first can with it, you'll be fine. The grips are soft and it doesn't require a lot of strength or pressure to work. Go ahead and buy one, you won't regret it.
I'm trying hard to understand this device. It's called a "can opener," but it DOESN'T OPEN CANS. Is there some other purpose for it out there I'm missing? The "blade" barely scores the rim of the can. It doesn't cut through it at all. After two or three twists of the handle, I can feel the cutting mechanism tilting away from the rim of the can. And then it just goes around and around without accomplishing anything at all.Oxo products are usually pretty spot on. But they occasionally have a total miss. This is one of the latter. Back it goes for a refund. Total waste of time. Don't buy it.
