I have spent 10 Years in the restaurant industry. This product is flimsy, not sharp enough to cut through anything and just straight up does not work. Save your money, what an absolute rip off. Never ever cut anything properly and broke the second time I used it. Sweet potato should not beat mandolin. Pathetic.

A pleasure to use

I previously had an old, inexpensiveGerman-made mandoline which was a pain to assemble and even more difficult to get back in the box. The food holder did not perform well, slice thickness was more or less arbitrary and limited. This product was a revelation. It is thoughtfully, sturdily and comfortably constructed. The side dial for thickness, change to waffle cut, etc. is very easy to use and the blade is wonderfully sharp. The food holder is very effective and has a strong spring to take a potato, for instance, down to just a tiny nub at the end of smooth and almost effortless slicing. Have not yet tried the waffle or julienne settings, but, I have no doubt they will also perform well!

Tried to waffle cut sweet potatoes and could not do it. The veggie drags on the surface and the blade would not cut through it. Then I tried just using the flat blade to slice the sweet potato and it still wouldn't cut through the potato completely. Next up I tried a bell pepper to do something easy and it dragged on the surface of the mandoline and tore the pepper instead of cleanly slicing through. I'm thrilled BB&B has such an amazing return policy. Will be returning in exchange for the Super Benriner, fingers crossed!

Excellent bit of kit

Does exactly what it is supposed to. Easy to use and clean. They have thought of everything - it is designed to store really well and safely. It is expensive and doesn’t come with loads of options basically it slices and juliennes but it does that better than any other mandoline i have ever used. So far i also still have all my finger tips intact which is a bonus. Would recommend.

Excellent, Highly Versatile Mandoline-Great Value
12 March 2018

I decided upon the OXO Good Grips Cubing Mandoline for the cubing and julienne functions, and the paper thin slices the slicer can produce. This is one of the few mandolines available that will produce a 1/16th inch slice which is truly razor thin. The product came highly rated by America's Test Kitchen and is very easy to use. First and foremost, the product is safe to handle. Blades are switched by adjusting dials, not removing and changing out the blades manually. The hand guard is also spring loaded - which allows the guard to do the work pressing down on the vegetable as it is sliced, not you. The hand guard is also spring loaded - which allows the guard to do the work pressing down on the vegetable as it is sliced, not you. The plank is long and wide and enables the user to get an efficient and smooth slicing motion underway as vegetables are cut. The wide width also enables the user to slice large vegetables without having to cut them to fit. The blade is extremely sharp and is angled so the vegetable is cut starting at the outer edges going in. Engineering the blade in this manner is extremely important as you are cutting the vegetable smoothly and gradually with less effort - not trying to power through, and slice the vegetable whole as you are when you try to cut with a straight bladed mandoline. Slicing dense, hard vegetables such as beets can be done with ease. The mandoline is easy to clean by performing a quick rinse with water and folds down so that it can be stored in a shallow drawer. This mandoline enables one to cube, slice, and produces a regular and fine julienne. This is a great product for consumers who are on a raw diet.

Jury is Still Out

Love the thickness adjustability and range. Slicing potatoes, onions, radishes, carrots is magical but tomatoes can be more difficult especially if fully vine-ripe. Disappointed with extended ‘slaw teeth’: cabbage works for but onions tend to leave pieces jammed between the ramp and blade at times. Was looking for wider spacing between the vertical cutters so french fries wouldn’t be shoe-string fries. May return to look for an adjustable thickness mandolin having better french fry cutting capabilities.

Nice slicer, but not flexible enough.
24 September 2019

This thing is nice, comfortable to use, and comes nice and sharp. For a high end slicer I am pleased, but it isn't perfect. My complaints stem from the inflexibility of the depth settings, something that was not clear from the product description.One-the slicer is not infinitely adjustable, it has depth settings (18 of them) that step through different thicknesses. This is plenty of settings for most things, but sometimes you need to slice something just a bit thinner or thicker, and the steps this slicer offers is too much.Two-the julienne settings can ONLY make strips that are square in cross section because there is only one depth setting available for each julienne blade (1/4" for the 1/4" blades, 1/8" for the 1/8" blades). My old slicer allowed the depth to be set independent of the accessory blades, allowing the 1/4" julienne blade to make 1/4" wide by 1/16" thick flat strips. I used this often with things like daikon in my kimchi and cucumbers in marinated salads.

the reviews are correct, best mandoline. The adjustability for size is great since you can set the exact size. The cleaning of the blade was so easy. Removing the blade before cleaning the base unit is genius.

The most fabulous mandoline
25 September 2017

I've wanted a mandoline for a very long time, but was reluctant to purchase one since I have a food processor and a hand grater. I finally purchased one that was recommended by America's Test Kitchen. The first one I purchased was so complicated to use. I couldn't figure out how to use the different blades or how to install them properly. Everything was written in German. I need ease of use when I cook, not complications. So back to the recommendations from ATK and they also suggested this OKO. Wow! This one is great. I love using it. It's not complicated. It works great. Not many extra parts. You can decide how thick you want the slices. My "potato chips" turned out great as did my zucchini saute. I love using it and try and find an excuse to slice and waffle slice ... MoreI've wanted a mandoline for a very long time, but was reluctant to purchase one since I have a food processor and a hand grater. Tiny blades bent first use.
20 March 2018

If you adjust the thickness of the cut and turn the know all the way, a really cool features appears, tiny blades come up so you can cut julienne style. I was so excited, I tried it right away and when I was done, I turned the know back to tuck the tiny blades away. When I turned the know back the tiny blades would not come back up. When I investigated, I discovered the several of the blades had bent. I had to take some needle nose pliers to bend the blades back straight. Now I am hesitant to use the julienne cut. Also, the handle that holds the food while you slice only has a three needles to hold on to the food. It would much better off if it had a dozen needles because each item I slice is a different size and shape. It's difficult to get the food secure when you ... MoreIf you adjust the thickness of the cut and turn the know all the way, a really cool features appears, tiny blades come up so you can cut julienne style.
