I can open a bottle again! Hurray!Due to cancer med side effects , I am suffering from painful thumbs. This has helped tremendously! Just one little suggestion, put a hole or bracket so I can attached it under a cupboard. This will give it extra power should both hands hurt.

It also doesn't adjust to quite small tops.Would love to buy the old fashioned jar opener that had a great grip, something I found this gadget not to have!

Having tried several jar openers that didn't work very well, finding this one is great. It works with several different size jars and bottles. It grips well with the lid to stop it slipping off. I would recommend this product and is far better than others on the market.

This is a brilliant product. For someone with arthritis this is a great help. The lid comes off with ease. I use this all the time.My only gripe is that the rubber mat to stand the jar on does not stay on well when you pack it away. But this is a trivial nothing really.Over all a brilliant and well thought out tool that hopefully will get lots of use.
I have been finding it increasingly difficult to open jars & so now is my husband. I saw this jar opener in John Lewis & thought it would be good for a relative who has Parkinson's disease & lives alone. I bought one to try & found it fantastic & very easy to use.So good I have bought several to give as presents for all my female relatives who find opening jars difficult.
Since I have a bit of arthritis in both my hands and lack much strength in them, I have bought a number of items from the Container Store over the years to help me open bottles, jars and cans. I saw this item in an email from the store and went in to take a look at it. It seemed to fit my needs and so I bought it. Since doing so,I have used it more than any of my other helpers to open jars in particular. I think it's a very well designed and helpful item and the non-slip pad that comes with it is handy to keep items in place. But it is necessary to hold on to whatever you are trying to open to give yourself some leverage when rotating the handle. I'm so glad I made the purchase. It works well for me.
Not as good as I expected to be. Still found it difficult to open a pickle jar - the opener kept slipping on the lid. On the other hand, it did eventually get the pickle jar open which was an impossible feat without the opener. Basically, yes it does work. Eventually. Is it a magic wand? No.
This little gadget has made the prospect of opening a new jar of ....anything ....no longer something I dread! I have no grip due to very arthritic hands and I used to have to wait for my son to come if I had a new jar to open - VERY frustrating when I was looking forward to my morning toast and marmalade!It really does work every time. I have found this product of little use, very difficult to use. I am very disappointed as Oxo products are usually of a good standard. Lining up the item to be opened is not easy and I find it slips easily which is frustrating.
Well built and easy to use. I opened a 32oz jar of saucerkraut using this devise. Previously, I was unable to open the jar using my bare hands. It opens all jars of different sizes with little effort.
