I purchase sink mats based on the design and look as well as function. Therefore, this design is in the price range of other mats I have purchased in the past that unfortunately did not last. I do wash them periodically in the dishwasher. This is why I am also confused by the mold comment from a previous reviewer. I clean my sink regularly which would mean the mat would not sit in the bottom of the sink for weeks on end collecting water and thus mold. I have done this with every mat I have purchased so never a problem with mold. I enjoy the design of this sink mat so I highly recommend.

These mats are a great product BUT stating "small" on the package is deceiving. I should have measured the sides & bottom of my sinks before purchasing. Since the mats have feet on the underside, I assumed the mats would lay flat on the bottom of each sink. WRONG! These mats rested at 3" to 4" inches ABOVE the drain. I wasn't looking for "drying mats" -- I want to protect the stainless steel. Back they went to the store. Please consider offering these mats a few inches smaller.

Our sink is 28 inches wide. We had a large stainless steel sink protector that filled the sink nicely but was a pain to clean. This OXO mat is great because we can just put it in the dishwasher. I do have one suggestion if you have a larger sink. Spend a little extra and get two of the smaller ones so you can leave a little gap between them so you can more easily get vegetable trimmings down the garbage disposal. My wife insisted we get the larger one which, at 16 inches, leave either a huge gap on one end or smaller gaps on each end with no access to the drain. I have to lift the mat up to get access to the drain. Smaller bits do flow nicely under the mat but slightly larger pieces do not. This will protect your sink. I wish it was a little bigger but my sink is between sizes. It still works. I love it. It blends in better than any other type I have tried. I just use same sink cleaner to keep it fresh. I bought two more for 2 other sinks so I guess I really like it
I like the mat because it allows me to rest and wash items in the sink without scratching the sink. It is well made and sturdy. However, because the feet short, there is not a lot of space underneath the mat which means food particles remain underneath and stuck even when rinsed with a powerful sprayer. The only way to prevent that is after every single use to wash both sides and the sink surface thoroughly...not just rinse. It requires a brush and time and scouring. I'd prefer just to be able to rinse dishes, put in the dishwasher and then rinse sink....not have to take the time and effort to "wash" the mat and sink every time.
This Smaller size is nice in the larger farmhouse sinks. I only wanted it to sit in half of the bottom so it’s easier to clean out from underneath where food gets trapped. The rubber edges are helpful to scrape everything underneath too. Dark color will resist stains.
I was hesitant to go with the OXO Kitchen Sink Mat and wanted to go with a cheaper brand. However, I was extremely happy with the performance of this mat. It stays really clean, it is easy to get food out of, and does not stain like some of the others. The room below the mat leaves space so the food will go into the drain. So far, this has made my life easy cleaning dishes.
When we remodeled our kitchen 15 years ago, we bought pricey chrome sink protectors for the double sink. Our sizes are no longer available, so we were happy to find this Oxo plastic sink protector. It's better than the chrome one! The chrome one required frequent scrubbing with an old toothbrush and drying with rags to prevent mold ... but the Oxo repels dirt and doesn't allow slime to form! I put it in the dishwasher once out of curiosity - and it came out just fine - but it looked just as clean before and after the cycle. This sink protector must be made of a magical material! Dirt and food particles slide off under the water. Hot pots don't hurt it. It muffles the sound of dishes being put in the sink. It looks nice. What a delightful surprise!
Wanted something to protect bottom of new enamel sink. So far so good. Tiny 'feet' keep raised above bottom of sink protecting from accumulation of stuff around and underneath and providing an extra cushion of protection from items accidentally dropped in sink. Worthwhile investment.
have a large, 28" sink, I agree with another reviewer who suggested 2 smaller mats instead of one large! yes! so much easier to clean the sink and the drain with 2 smaller mats. very happy with my purchase, no more scratches on my new sink! sturdy and easy to clean!
