This product does an outstanding job slicing cabbage for cole slaw. A key consideration in making a great cole slaw is to slice the cabbage as thin as possible. This product is much more effective in accomplishing this than a food processor. In addition, this product is remarkably designed with numerous features, such as the ability to adjust the slicing thickness and numerous types of blades, incorporated into its compact size. This is an excellent product!

Nice clean packaging. The item is a bit larger than I was hoping for as I don’t have a lot of storage space in my kitchen. The design is pretty sleek and easy to use. Cuts cucumbers and a bit firmer veggies well. A softer tomato was a bit difficult and didn’t turn out the best. The blades tended to wear down a bit too quickly for my liking. For a device I have wanted for a while, I was kind of disappointed and will probably stick with using a knife as it’s less cleanup and easier to store.

I initially purchased an "off" brand to save a few dollars and I definitely got what I paid for; blades were not very sharp, shifted often and no storage for the additional blades. I am so happy that I returned the "off" brand and purchased the OXO VBlade Mandoline Slicer! I make all of my dog treats at home and one of their favorites is sweet potato crisps which need to be sliced in 1/4 inch chips. This mandoline has that setting and even cut through some pretty thick sweet potatoes with ease. This is the first mandoline slicer I've ever had, and I really love how useful it's been. The blade is very sharp and the "grip" is extremely good at getting as much of the food as possible sliced. It's made several of my meals much easier to cook, and more fun.The design is a bit odd, at first all of the pieces fitting into the mandoline sounded great, but with the blades not being dishwasher safe I still need to completely remove them each time I use it. It's easier to just have them seperate for storage, I never store them inside the mandoline anymore. So I wish there was a casing for them instead. As well I wish that OXO sold the blades separately, as these will eventually dull and it's so wasteful to have to get an entirely new unit.
It is virtually impossible to change blades from plain slicing to French fry cut or julienne without cutting yourself. The plastic pieces all come apart once you find the strength to separate the pieces. And impossible to get back into place. Worse there are no usable instructions. I watched the brief YouTube video 8 times before I finally figured it out. The is the absolute worst kitchen product I’ve ever had the misfortune to buy. It is incredibly dangerous. And because it’s so difficult to change the cutting blades, it’s basically useless unless you just stick to the configuration it comes out of the box with. Plus it is big and bulky and won’t fit into a drawer. I have to keep it on top of the counter.

With the plastic body, no worries about rusting, although you do need to be mindful of how you care for the blades. I like OXO products and I felt this product met the expectations of this brand. There are a few things that I like about this slicer. It folds down for storage, the rubber feet keep it in place while youre using it, it has different slicing settings and alternate blades that pop in and out, and it comes apart for easy cleaning. Once you get the hang of it, it produces nice uniform slices . I do wish it also sliced a 1/2 inch thickness instead of stopping at 1/4 inch. The food holder can be a little slippery if you are wearing cutting gloves, and it would be nice if there were protective sides on the holder like other brands. Overall, I like this product and like many of the other OXO items I have, I hope this one lasts a long time.
It works, but not without a lot of hassle. Feel like this thing would only be worth the time if you were slicing A LOT of veggies, and in that case you'd be better off buying something better. This is very poor design. I'm frankly surprised they still sell this. The instruction manual gives no instruction on how to remove the julienne/french fry blades. Probably because they know how dangerous the bad design is, and giving the actual instruction sets up the customer to cut themself. The answer is you have to pull it upward out of the unit with force, which is extremely dangerous, so you need to drape something thick like a dishtowel over it first. Pass on this. They designed it so that you buy it, use it once or twice and then toss it in frustration.
This mandoline is pretty much all plastic but it is really durable. I think that it held up well under the pressure used for slicing. I found it very sturdy. The thickness settings are consistent and accurate. I liked the four thickness options it came with. The slicing action is smooth and effortless. I found that the food holder part was not very useful. The holder works well when slicing harder items like potatoes but is awful if you are slicing softer things like tomatoes. I didn’t use it much but was super careful because the blades are incredibly sharp. Cleanup was easy, I rinsed it under the faucet and left it to dry on my dish rack. It's a nice size and storage was fairly simple as well. Doesn't take up too much room. Overall super pleased and would recommend!

Not only is it much quicker and easier, but the slices are very consistent, so they are much easier to cook evenly.When the mandoline is folded up, the knob can be set to a "lock" position to hold it closed, which is nice. Cleaning is fairly easy, but when you wash the mandoline, water will get on all of the extra blades, so you will either need to fully disassemble it or let it air dry to get all of the water out.I will definitely be using this mandoline a lot this summer to grill veggies.
