I like ice trays with covers to prevent things from falling onto the ice and this design works really well as the cover slides off for filling and ice removal. The cover also helps with stacking multiple trays. The ice pops out easily with a gentle twist of the tray. Price also very reasonable considering the brand.

Great ice cube tray

Have you ever purchased an ice cube tray, filled it up, carried it to the freezer and water splashes out? The new OXO covered ice cube tray will prevent this from happening to you. How many times have you gone into the freezer and pushed out some ice cubes, only to see some yucky black specs in your ice. Have no fear, the OXO ice cube tray with the plastic flap is the key to perfect ice cubes. The ice cube trays stack great in the freezer! No spilling! The ice cubes come out easily. You can pop out just a few or the entire tray. Simply the best ice cube tray on the market! I enjoy making my iced coffee to take to work.

Ice has a chemical taste... Zero stars

If the drink sits long enough for the ice to start to melt - the drink starts to taste like there's a chemical in it. Probably from the silicone cover on the tray?It was making me crazy - wondering why my iced tea and grape juice tasted funny. So I tested it with plain water. Tastes fine before the ice melts ... but let it sit for a few minutes and it tastes like some chemical.I tested my other ice cube trays as well. No problem with plain plastic trays.

Ice tray leaked all over my freezer. A design tweek could have made this problem less likely.

It clearly states that you can do that to save space in your freezer. That said, I accidentally put a little too much water in each ice cube pocket. Nice ice tray!

There are many unique features I like about this ice tray. First, the silicone cover allows you to store the tray at an angle. This feature frees up more space in your freezer. Second, the cover also keeps debris and odors from getting into your ice which is always nice.Removing the ice cubes was very easy. A gentle twist of the tray pops the ice out of the curved molding. The curved molding is a great design feature because the cube can also pop out of the shell with a simple push on one side. Lastly, I love how it is dishwasher safe!

No Spill Ice Cube Tray

I love covers on ice trays. It minimizes spills and keeps odors out. I wish OXO would also make a solid top ice tray and trays in different cube sizes. Silicon may work better for freshness, but I dislike the smell and feel of silicon.

Not Up to Par…

The OXO Good Grips No-Spill Ice Cube Tray with Silicone doesn’t function well. This product was made to fit in tight freezers at an angle and prevent freezer odors on ice cubes. Despite following package instructions, removing excess water from the tray, and pressing down on the silicone cover, to seal the ice tray, the silicone cover lifts while ice cubes form in the tray. The lifted silicon cover makes ice cubes susceptible to absorbing freezer odors, along with possible spillage—which defeats the initial purpose of the product. OXO should consider upgrading the strength and durability of the silicone lid. At this time, I couldn’t recommend the OXO Good Grips No-Spill Ice Cube Tray to anyone looking to upgrade their ice tray.

I use this for freezing leftover liquids like heavy cream, egg yolks or marinated fresh herbs. Once frozen, I place the individual cubes in a freezer bag. Each cube is roughly a tablespoon so this makes it easy for recipes. I particularly like the silicone lid because it helps prevent spills, evaporation, freezer burn and odors. It is easy to attach and remove.In other reviews, there were several comments about the silicone absorbing odors. I’ve only had this item for a couple weeks so time will tell if I experience the same issue.But for the downside, the tray is long – it’s the same depth as the shelf in my counter-depth side-by-side freezer which makes it a tight fit and it won’t fit sideways either. Very cool design

Indidnt think that a better ice cube tray could be designed, but this is really a cool tray. It takes a try or two to get a handle on how it works. But once you figure it out it's easy to fill perfectly and a breeze to remove the cubes. They just slip right out! The lid seems to help keep strange freezer odors from penetrating the cubes, an issue I have had with trays in the past.My freezer has a built in ice cube maker so this isn't a necessity for me at the moment. That being said, I look forward to using this tray for freezing excess herbs or pureed baby food in the future. I think it would work just as well for either of those.

Well thought out features.

I received the Oxo ice cube tray in the mail and immediately started using it. I like how the tiny ice compartments have space between them rather than being directly next to each other. I think it helps keep the cube whole as you are trying to get it out of its compartment. The silicone top is a good idea once it is in the freezer. However, when I filled the tray, the very outside edge had water in it. Once I put the silicone layer in place the water in the edge spilled all over me. The quality of the plastic was significantly better than other ice cube trays. Some trays are not durable, but this was thicker plastic.
