I already had one of these containers the tall 2.1 ltr and loved it. It looks really nice, love the push button to remove the lid and is airtight. I ordered another one as I wanted to fill it with flour the description recommends to store flour in their containers . As soon as I filled it with flour the lid wasnt working properly. Even when the button was pushed in you can just pull the lid off which is not supposed to happen. You have to press the button first to remove the lid normally.I had started the process of sending it back as thought it was faulty but then thought I would wash the lid as it may have particles of dusty flour on the inside of the lid although I couldnt see any. I also hadnt filled my container right to the top so it wasnt as if the flour was touching the lid when I put it on .I also removed the flour from the container and washed and dried it and the put another product in there and hey presto the lid was working as it should do.So basically if you want the lid to work properly do NOT use any of the containers to store flour Even so this is a lovely product and would recommend it for cereals etc.

I love OXO products and my kitchen is full of them. I have a lot of their kitchen tools, which are excellent, durable and reasonably priced. I love the containers too. I have a lot of these containers pictured in various sizes that are in my storage unit right now because I had to downsize for a short period of time time while I decide where to move next (which is why there isn’t a picture). In my old kitchen (and what I’ll set up again) I had these full of what I used most: pasts, oats, coconut flour, lentils, etc. They are a great way to organize your kitchen or pantry and they keep what’s inside fresh. Lids come off and can see it failing to seal

See photo. Can see the gaps in where the grey seal should be coming into contact with the clear plastic. The lids slide off when "locked" with minimal force, and how poorly they seal ranges on each unit- some give more resistant than others. There's no way these are actually airtight or consistent in manufacturing. Received units all scratched up in my order, as well. Get something else, these really are no good.

Love the OXO storage containers

The OXO storage containers are great. I have several sizes. They allow me to keep my pantry organized and looking clean and fresh.I live part of the year in Florida and with the humidity I was throwing food items out before their expiration date. Once they were opened no matter how tight I sealed them the humidity would get to them. So I decided to try one OXO cereal container. It worked great!! I have been buying additional sizes ever since. They have not disappointed me.Thank you for a great product.

New design is inferior to the old design

As some may or may not know, OXO recently changed the design of these containers, and they are no longer as good as they once were. The new design slims everything down, including a complete redesign of the lids. Slimming the containers is great, but these lids are no longer air tight and food goes stale quickly. You’re better off using a ziplock bag. OXO needs to swap the kids back to the older design that wouldn’t slide out when you hold the lid. These wouldn’t be effective even if they were $3 each.

Not airtight

I recently bought four of these containers in different sizes for flour, sugar, icing sugar, and brown sugar. Happy with them generally except it isn’t airtight enough to store the brown sugar. My brown sugar got so hard I had to chip at it to break it up and throw it out. I am now using a ziploc bag inside the container to keep my brown sugar workable.

Perfect For Storing Rice!

Purchased the 1.7 Qt. container to store Carolina 2# bag of Extra Long Grain Rice. It holds the entire 2#s with the lid on. The 1.1 Qt. container holds 2#s but the lid isn’t able to be put in place. The clear container also lets you know when it’s time to buy more rice. Great OXO product.

Perfect for my future new pantry!

My MIL has these in the UK so I was inspired to get some myself. We are completely overhauling our kitchen and trying really hard to be organized. The 1.1 square size is perfect for sugar and small bags of flour. I bought the rectangular 1.7 size for pasta and a larger bag of flour that I had. I am going to buy more, probably for rice and oats. Might even get one for dishwasher tablets.

Unusual Defect

I have many OXO POP containers in different shapes and sizes and I love them all, but this particular one (round 1.5 qt white canister) was defective. The lid did not seal when the button was pushed down. I did not notice this until 4 months after I bought it when it accidentally tipped over and the contents poured out all over my kitchen floor. I contacted OXO and provided them with detailed information about the markings on my specific item and they sent me a replacement! I received the replacement today and the lid on this one appears to work. I can pick up the canister by the lid only and it holds firm even when the canister is full. The lids look exactly the same, but there is something wrong with the button mechanism on the defective lid.
