I love this rice colander! I really needed one to clean my rice properly and there isn't a lot out there to choose from! This is perfect and the rice stays in and I love the handles! Perfect, perfect, perfect! I love the OXO brand! I also have a can opener from OXO and it's the best one I have ever bought and has lasted so far for 8 years!
The holes are fine enough that the quinoa doesn't get stuck or escape -- and a smooth surface with drained pouring spout, so nothing gets stuck on the way out of the colander. Great for quinoa and therefore rice, which is smaller grained.
Perfect for washing rice - much better than using a sieve. The small holes prevent the rice grains from escaping and also slow the water from draining too quickly, which helps with washing the starch away.Well designed and large enough to easily wash 6-8 cups of rice.
Can’t say enough things about this strainer! I’ve rinsed basmati rice, bulgar, very thin small bulgar, and quinoa in it with NO ISSUES! Some of the tiny quinoa got stuck in the holes, but pushed them out easily with a toothpick. This item made my meal preps SO MUCH EASIER! I literally lose no rice or grains while rinsing in this! Also ended up purchasing 5 more for family members because of how much I love it! They are just as happy!

This is a great time saver, water saver, and hand saver. I was so delighted to see how the bowl held the rice, and the water draining from the bottom. This bowl saves my hands from staying in water which dries out my hands!! Good on OXO!!
I bought this colander, so that I could rinse quinoa. I chose this particular colander, because it does not have a long handle hanging off the side of it making it to clumsy to efficiently nest within other bowls in the cabinet. This does what it is designed to do, and it stores great. And it won't rust.
