I thought this was great the first couple of times I used it. Yesterday I took it out to prep my turkey veggie skillet dinner. I was chopping and dumping directly into a pan with ground turkey to sauté the vegetables. I had dumped about 3 so far (onions, peppers, etc.) And then I was chopping a carrot (which I read online this could chop) and it's a vegetable in a vegetable chopper, why would I think it couldn't? I got 4 carrot halves chopped and when I tried to chop the 5th it felt stuck. I lifted the lid and half the carrot was through and half was stuck and the metal blades were bent. I pushed the rest through and I heard something unlike a carrot. I opened the lid and two blades popped out. Of course my plan was to throw away the carrots I chopped but then I realized, I don't know how long it had been slowly cutting away at the little plastic cubes on the lid and now I have no idea if my veggies and food in the pan are contaminated with plastic and/or metal. Not only is my chopper broken but now I had to throw away about $30 in food (meat and produce.) I am extremely disappointed in this product.

Oxo ?This is certainly not of the Oxo quality products I am used to & that I have purchased for years. It is poorly designed - broke immediately ( Medium sized onion )The weak plastic - sent jagged pieces which flew & landed on the floor amidst pieces of squashed & the bulk of the uncut onion. The onion that did end up in the cup - when i picked that up - fell out also onto the floormaking the situation even more frustrating & messyDisastrous design - so bad - I couldn't believe Oxo actually made itI ( DO NOT) recommend this - at all !

I have got through two of these so far. On both occasions while cubing carrots and cabbage to make cabbage soup, the centre blades just gave in. The time time I forgave it, because apart from the fact it isn't strong enough to do the job, it does the job quite well. However, I will now be contacting customer services. When the blades do give, they are very thin and flimsy and it soon becomes obvious why these machines can't really deal with large pieces of carrot or cabbage. I am not sure when it went first time, but second time it seemed to be on the carrots. I suppose I could make my pieces even smaller, although I already had, so I was surprised. So it works quite well if you are cutting lots of soft things or you pre-cut tougher things. It is a shame they don't ... MoreI have got through two of these so far. I bought this item at the weekend n having read the negative reviews would like to say By reading the product description before purchase I was fully aware it was for softer vegetables . Basic reading skill . Also the comments it is difficult to clean !! I remember Grandma waging clothing on the farm in a tub then using a mangle so if you think running this under a hot tap or put in dishwasher is hard we truelly are in a Nanny state go back to her days n tell me what hard work was . Lakeland are a local family firm based in Windermere my home town . Carry on Lakeland Peter Murray
This chopper is a little workhorse. It is a simple design without complicated additional parts. It is very sturdy in build. If all you want is something that will chop your veggies this is for you. It has cut down my prep time at least by half. So far I have used carrots, celery, mushrooms, potatoes, peppers and onions. Most sites recommend not doing sweet potatoes, but they did fine on this chopper. I just used thinner slices. It is very easy to clean. Highly recommend.
I need my veg cut into cubes for my cooking, rather than being chopped, so this gadget is an excellent tool for that. The caveat is that it does not work on semi-soft, pliable vegetables like brinjal, but is great for bottle gourd, ivy gourd and even bhindi. One surprise was that when I tried cubing a whole potato, instead of cubes I got long fingers. Which I might want sometimes, so that's ok.The price is high for a single-application gadget, but hopefully it will stand the test of time quality-wise. It saves me effort and is sort of straightforward to clean. For an upgrade, I'd suggest a lower price (one star cut for price, although it is lower on this site than on A&^%n).
I do sometimes get fed up with chopping onions, particularly when I need to do a large batch. With this, I can peel and halve them before the satisfying crunch as the dices make their way into the reservoir in a trice. I wouldn't bother for a single onion, but it makes short work of more than one when (easy) cleaning time is factored in. The only disadvantage is that it chops quite coarsely. A finer blade matrix would suit me even better - but that would also require a modified lever/lid, of course. Rinsing immediately after use makes subsequent cleaning child's play (though I wouldn't let the grandchildren anywhere near these blades).
I bought this mainly to chop onions as I’m not skilled enough to get a small even dice and think I spend too much time on chopping onions. This didn’t save me any time. In fact, I think all the extra time it takes to wash this product means it takes even MORE time. The squares are too large, you get a chunky dice, and only the one size option. A lot of onion is wasted and it is a terrible pain to clean - quite dangerous actually. I tried halving onions, slicing onions, before using the chopper - still wasteful. It is fine for soft vegetable like courgette, but not hard veg like carrot.

Recently my OXO chopper broke down after a few years of heavy usage. When I went in to buy a new one, OXO have replaced that (the rotating radiator-shaped cutting frame) with the new "Easy Pour" version. Easy pour is about the only benefit to this new gadget. The rubber mesh on the top to stop food from getting stuck got caught in the wire chopper on Day one, so now that is already broken. It only dices to one size which is slightly bigger than most recipes call for. I have now had to look for another branded chopper, and cannot take this one back as I had broken the rubber patch. Disappointing
