Awesome set-up but included accessories jammed into one bag - heavy and tight fit!

Love the tent, have used these before and as per usual are great for ease of set-up and just awesome in general. the upgraded features are much better. Having the extra accessories like the fly and peak the awning poles now included into the tent package is convenient instead of purchasing separately. But in the past buying these separately meant seperate storage bags. Everything in he plus model is crammed into the tent carry bag making zipping it up difficult and putting a fair bit of strain on the zipper. Would be better to still supply the additional carry bags for fly, peak poles etc. Everything in one bag also means that the true weight of this is well over the 25kg listed for the tent alone.

Excellent tent but waterproof cover ripped on first trip

Love the tent but very disappointed by the waterproof bag cover. We had it strapped to the roof and it rained on our first trip. Noticed the bag ripped already! And in multiple spots. The waterproof cover bag is pretty much useless - cheap material that rips easy. Otherwise the tent is great.

Great tent - but need a bigger carry bag

This is a great tent bit on the heavier side. I had hard time fitting everything back in the bag after using it for the first time. There are several other reviews on the internet which shares the same thing.Oztent should give us better bags rather than us having to buy bigger canvas bags from companies (It looks like Oztent makes one themselves, it is annoying that it doesn't come standard and that we have to spend more for an already expensive tent).

Well the design is good, but the quality of the canvas just isn’t close to a good Australian made canvas. It’s heavy and longer than anticipated. There’s nothing 30 second about it. Sure you can put the tent body up in 30 second but there’s 4 poles, two spreaders, the fly and about 16 pegs to go in to get the thing standing right. - and it needs a third spreader for the fly at the rear of the tent to be any good. And I am not quite sure what the heck they were thinking putting a roof window in when the fly covers it completely. You might say do away with the fly but every review says the fly is needed to assist with the condensation….. As for the quality of the poles…. We’ll a windy night at the Prom would put them to rest.

Bought RV-5 Plus after watching every review that exists in the whole world. If you use stretchers (we have 2x Oz Tent singles) to add storage space under, it's a tent for 2, not 5, so anyone looking at RV-3 or 4 wondering this or that, just buy the RV-5 Plus and deal with the extra 3 kg of weight - if weight's a pain, separate out pegs and poles - this makes a difference. All these tents are the same length and we found we could fit it diagonally in the Forester with a seat down. Further, you really want the fly and the extra awning poles of the Plus. The fly keeps the tent cooler - we found it was the difference between an afternoon nap and dying of heatstroke when in full sun. The fly keeps the tent cooler - we found it was the difference between an afternoon nap and dying of heatstroke when in full sun. The mesh floor (it's the only optional extra with this tent) integrates the sleeping space into the living area, which is this tent's huge bonus. We liked the numerous peg points and the coarse texture of the mesh, which removes grass from little feet. The peaked awning is great - going for the Plus just for that makes it worth the extra. The awning space is considerable, even with a 1.6m table and chairs occupying it. Build quality is high, ventilation is good, considering the realities of mesh. We had intermittent rain all weekend and not a drop inside with no fly up, as we were seasoning the fabric. The quality of the poles is good, the pegs are excellent, the luminous guy ropes are thoughtful, I liked the guy rope pockets, 8yo loved the moon roof. We arrived at dusk with lots of screaming and sprinkles of rain, and I put the tent up for the first time in growing darkness by self without head lamp. Apart from the awning (if alone you need to set up the front poles and the cross member all leaning against the frame then move them forward and peg), there was no swearing. The internal frame allowed us to minimise the number of guys in the protected spot we camped. Setup was not 30 seconds but given the size of the overall structure, it was faster than expected. The pack up was easier still, though I tend to agree with others that it's hard to make this tent occupy its original space once unpacked. Regardless, the RV-5 is a tent that is liveable enough to justify its extra cost on the basis of extra use. We are planning the next trip already and figure after a few more nights under canvas this tent will have more than paid for itself.

Oztent RV5 plus

We bought 2 of these tents with the side panels and connections, they performed great over a ten day camping trip with the family. Really comfortable and virtually no condensation in a very cold area which was amazing. We had a day of heavy rain and a day of howling wind and we were very comfortable. Highly recommend for their purpose. Probably wouldn’t go to the trouble for one night though.

Questionable quality
8 July 2022

First tent arrived with holes in the canvas. This was replaced by Oztent under warranty after jumping through hoops and providing photos of the tent set up from every angle. 3 weeks later the replacement tent has arrived with a hole in one of the mesh windows. Service from Snowy's was great however I am not convinced by the quality of the tent given how much they cost. Seems like Oztent had a good reputation when they were made in Australia but now they are made overseas and the quality has clearly declined.
