All love comes to an end

I have had this tarp for 3 years. I love it. It has been used extensively in the Victorian bush. After 3 years it’s finally time to let it go. It is no longer waterproof and water drips in when it’s raining. It took me a good few attempts to get the set up right to avoid pooling. You can’t have it set up as in the pictures if there is any chance of rain. I can put this tarp up on my own and fits 2 double swags under it comfortably. Would totally recommend, life span of about 2 years if used roughly once every 2 months, but for the price it’s excellent.

Great on paper, useless in the field

So I wanted a small tarp to add to my geodesic tent for an extra canopy when raining. I have a 4mx4m DD tarp with is more than awesome, but just a little too big. So being a tight arse I purchased this fly. This fly is totally useless if there is a scarret of wind, sun, or rain- so basically when there's no reason to use a fly, it's fine. It's flimsy, the pegs supplied with it are ridiculous and I lament springing the $30 odd dollars and should have just bought a similar sized DD tarp for $60. Snowys...this product is not worthy of your good name!

I really like this one

So we used it two times for camping so far, once with 4 poles and one spreader and connected the back to the tree using ropes, second time with six poles and three spreaders with side connected to ropes. What I noticed is that in higher wind it was moving a bit but we had rope with trace springs on poles so it didn’t make any problems for Fly. It’s definitely better to use spreader/s to it can actually hold the whole thing together and make it more sturdy, it felt like a home under it. We had no rain so can’t comment on that, but it worked great. Super easy to talk to snowys, when we had a problem with delivery they really helped us and it got on time for last camping.

All the guy ropes and tent pegs you need are included with this fly and it all fits within a nice carrybag. I purchased the OZtrail elasticated tent pegs, 2 packs of 2 poles (2m in height). And purchased two telescopic with a bit more height and infinite adjust-ability within the parameters. I could easily fit a 3 man hiking tent underneath along with a substantial space for lounging, sitting, cooking etc. In the heat of the day, I felt the sun warming through so I am not sure of the UV protection offered but it definitely provides sufficient shade to beat the heat. One person can set it up, you just need to peg out for two guy ropes for each center pole and once they are stable you can put in the other 4 poles and peg it out. Amazing product. Very versatile and lightweight. Used it on a trip around Wilson's Prom in June. This made meal time so much more pleasant being able to quickly construct a shelter and toss everything underneath while packing up in the rain. I upgraded to some lightweight aluminium stakes to save on weight though

I wanted the hiker fly which was out of stock so I got this one. I haven’t taken it out camping yet but just tested setting it up in the backyard and it seems really good for what I paid even though the awning poles are extra that’s fine because you’ll always have a use for them, it is super light, doesn’t take up much space. I currently have been using a 3 x 3 meter gazebo which I set up and pack up on my own and wanted something a little bit less physical and that will take up less room in my car and this is perfect 😍 definitely not physical to put it up and even setting it up on my own…first I set it up with half side down just like a shelter and then I lifted that side up and adjusted the line! So a one person set up can be done. Looking forward to trying it ... MoreI wanted the hiker fly which was out of stock so I got this one. Absolute crap. Eyelets rip out with only moderate winds. I Should have known better than to purchase light weight gear. Doesn't even deserve one star. Luckily, I brought my silver Bunnings tarp as a backup which has handled a few gales over the years.

I'm loving the fly. It's perfect for a single tent setup. I've been practicing my setups and now I'm checking out the larger ones for my larger tent. Great product. Fast service. Thanks Guys!!

I use the hiker fly for 5 days of camping recently. Although I added two more poles, I probably could have done without very easily. I’d recommend upgrading the pegs as the ones that come with are toy pegs. I’ll consider adding a spreader pole to give more structure to the fly ceiling. I managed to fit a table underneath, a bike, a camping chair or two and some stools. I’d be happy to use this above my swag or use as a gazebo type structure without the weight.

Tarping it

I purchased this fly from tenttown in panmure in november of 2020 for my 3 month trip to the south island. The trip turned into a 7 mont adventure through summer and into the start of winter.I normally make my own gear but the cost of the fly was way cheaper than diy(for a change)The fly was used on a diagonal hang for extended coverage for my custom made 4.5m hammock.Rain protection was ok but i later shortened the hammock and used a std rectangular hang. Both methods provided good rain protection and in the rectangular mode i poled the side into "porch mode to provide a larger footprint and better visibility. The tarp never missed a beat.Would recommend it to anyone for tarp tenting or hammocking. The ventilation prevented most condensation buildup and ... MoreI purchased this fly from tenttown in panmure in november of 2020 for my 3 month trip to the south island. The ventilation prevented most condensation buildup and provide excellent visability and shelter. The only gripe i had was the waterproofing was on the inside but i just reversed the fly and got to use the central loop to hang my torch on.I later added a ridgeline and a bush made hand sewn bugnet so lost the use of the loop but gained a ridgeline.John
