Almost impossible to assemble. I would NOT recommend this chair due to the poorly designed way the arm rests attached to the back. The arms are extremely difficult to attach. It was a frustrating task, unsuccessfully attempted by several of our staff. Extra tools, (rubber mallet) brut force and a ton of patience are required. It is not as simple as the instructions (very vague) and video suggest. Once actually assembled the chair functions fine.

Once assembled this chair seems great - the assembly however was a nightmare! Thanks to my local Officeworks manager (who also failed in his attempts to get the arms attached to the back of the chair I purchased) for swapping it for the assembled (and new) floor stock.Disappointing as Pago is a great brand but the quality in finish doesn't seem to be there in this model - understand it's price point however I expected better.Unless yo live close to your local store I don't recommend this model - spend a bit extra and go for the next model up that has the arms already attached!

Agree with all 1* reviews. I had 6 chairs to assemble and never required to view a video to assemble an office chair. Pointless including a paper manual. The design is flawed, a mallet is required and once arms slotted in, the hole for screw is off line and screwing on an angle. Worse PAGO product to assemble.

I'm everyone's go to man for assembling flat pack furniture and stuff but I'm stumped on assembling this . Like most of the previous reviews - attaching the arms of the chair to the back is unbelievably and unnecessarily difficult. I'm taking this back to Officeworks and if they can't bypass this step then I'll need a refund. I think this is a good chair once assembled as I've sat in it in the store but the assembly is at best a very difficult puzzle that I've run out of time for. Wish I read the reviews first but tend to trust Officeworks as I've never had a bad experience there before.
The chair is great, works as it should. The emotion and physical toll this chair had on me on the other hand is immeasurable. The arm attachment step took me an hour to complete and requires a lot of brute force. Although it is done, I don't think I will forget this experience.
I have been trying to assemble my chair for an hour, and I jumped on the reviews to see if anyone else had any issues. Bittersweet to see I am not the only one. The brand replying 'its a lot easier to assemble once you watch the video' it is not. do not reply and tell me to watch the video, I have, it doesn't change the design. My chair is very obviously a return, because I could see before i started that there were scratch marks from someone trying, as I am, to get the arms to fit.
I purchased the pago ash chair today (didn't see any reviews to read but much later found them really-right-at-the-bottom of page) and eagerly unpacked it to assemble. It is very difficult to assemble and perhaps easier for young, strong male, (despite the video showing young woman) but I finally managed to assemble the base. The arms, however, would not "align and insert" or "push in". Even with a hammer and a variety of tools, after two hours I was no further progressed. I then (again with difficulty) found and read the reviews and discovered I was not alone: I don't think Arnold Schwarzenegger could accomplish this "simple task". I also found that the "simple tilting mechanism" doesn't seem to function as intended, either. Simple looking, breathable comfortable chair however we did just have a part break from the back of the chair to an armrest after just 7 months so the backrest is only secured on one side.Spoke to a very lovely Customer Service rep at Officeworks who is arranging for a replacement arm to be sent which will hopefully fix the problem allowing us to reattach the backrest to the arm again. These things happen and if the replacement part fixes the problem fantastic because we are otherwise quite happy with the chair just popping the review on here because I didn't know a replacement part was an option so may help someone else
What does 'value' mean to you? I purchased this chair because it was slightly more affordable than other options, but I didn't expect to be punished for my financial choices with a poorly designed, poorly explained, poorly manufactured product that simply does not work as intended. As every other review here will tell you, this chair cannot be correctly assembled. It is a faulty design whose components do not align as attended in order to be secured, and because it's now stuck half put together and I do not have access to means to return it, I am stuck with this piece of expensive abstract sculpture. Simply put, do not purchase.p.s. It is not helpful to include an Allen key in the box then recommend a hammer to make something work.
This Pago company clearly hasn’t got decent QA procedures in place. As so many other people have said, the arms don’t fit on. “No problem, I’ll just have a chair with no arms”. Not so fast buddy, the arms hold the back to the seat. You can’t just leave them off.I’ve spent 2 hours trying to get these arms on. I almost threw this thing off the balcony I was so frustrated (and I love assembling furniture).I had originally planned to buy a used office chair for a fraction of the price. I deeply regret buying this piece of junk. I should have read the reviews first.
