I have to say, for all the hype I'm a bit disappointed. I have these in 43mm on a HED Belgium G Plus rim (25mm internal) and they are very heavy and flick rocks everywhere. I eventually became too annoyed by getting rocks in my shoes, hit in the head with little pebbles etc. The weight feels like a boat anchor.Unfortunately, taking them off.

Does what I wanted kinda.

I put it on the front for better traction in loose gravel. It helped but turned my rove into a slug. Doesn't roll great on the road and was w pain to set up tubeless. Probably will look elsewhere next time.

Excellent tire for road and gravel

Excellent tire for road transitioning to gravel. Haven't tried it on forest single track but my suspicions is that it would probably muck up but as long as it is fairly dry this tire holds up pretty nice. I was apprehensive on how well it held up in loose sand but was surprised on how well it held up as long as I kept my speed down.

Gravel Flings
4 October 2020

I wanted to love these tires. They seem to be very popular in the gravel community and have a great reputation. They were easy enough to mount and no trouble running them tubeless on my stock WTB wheels. My only real complaint is that they pick up and throw tiny pebbles almost like they were designed to do so. On my first 40 mile ride, I noticed immediately the sounds of little pings off my bike. I assumed once the brand new stickiness of the tire wore off, this would subside. After 40 miles through dirt and dust, they're still flinging rocks much more so than any other tire I've used. I guess I will put a few more miles on them and hope that it calms down. I get the feeling these are better for dirt and muddy conditions and less ideal for someone like me who tends ... MoreI wanted to love these tires. Super happy with my Gravelking SK's, own two sets, 38's and 43's, have ridden these since April 2021 (2/2023 current) Have not had a single flat with either set. 43's are Big Bird Yellow Tubed and the 38's are purple fuscia tubeless. Raced them, Bike packed with them, single track, double track, rocky terrain (aka baby heads) gravel rough, smooth and some railroad ballast. Being in Oregon they have seen wet days to, thus mud. Bought another set in Jan for 2023 season. Depending on the rider, their skills, will result in varied opinions... For me, these are spot on, from slow rides to nuking corners, I'm happy

Light and supple tires. They hook up well for tubeless use. Really smooth ride. Good quality and value.

Punctured and ruined in under 12 miles
27 February 2023

Purchased a set of 48mm for a gravel bike build. Went out for first ride and lost the rear tire by mile 12, riding on mostly clean pavement. Sealant was unable to seal it. Got it home and tried plugging the hole - still won't seal.Never had an issue with punctures on my road bike. Will be looking into other options for gravel.

Riding with the King
5 March 2022

I occasionally ride on very well maintained gravel roads that connect tank firing ranges. The SK is the perfect tire for the transitions between gravel & tarmac here. I've ridden the same area with SS in 35c. I've never had an easy time getting either to seat. Both the SK & SS required fiddling with rimtape, cursing, & several hits from an Airshot. Once the torture of breading them is over, they hold air for days. I haven't had a ride stopping puncture with either. This tire is not going to set speed records, but it's quick enough to keep up with B or C groups riders. The tanwall is the perfect shade. Not too yellow or too orange. I'm going to get another set in 43mm for a 3rd wheelset.

Solid for tarmac + light trail duty
19 November 2024

I've had 4 sets of these now. They are my go-to for bikes that live mostly on the road and do some light trail duty. I typically run them as clinchers. I tend to keep them at a higher PSI for that reason (over 50) to prevent pinch flats. They roll well on pavement and don't lose traction on hardpack or light gravel. Grass and mud get a little spicy on these, as you would expect, but are rideable.I see some folks have struggled with flats on these. That has not been my experience. I've probably put upwards of 8k miles on the various sets of these tires I've had.

Solid tubeless gravel tires
8 January 2021

I got just about 1000 miles on my pair of 700x38s tubeless before finding a dreaded goats head thorn with the rear tire, directly mid-tread. Wouldn’t seal with the Stans sealant and I didn’t have a plug. Ended up running tubes and they’re now backups. They rolled pretty well and handled chunky gravel and single track. Tread held up well also.
