Fantastic camera. Can get some really good shots with this. It will probably take a while to get through all of the settings and understand the camera and how you can function it to shoot the pictures you want. It was hard at first as there are many buttons, I would say this isn’t a beginners camera. This is a professional camera that takes some knowledge to understand the camera to get the best out of it. The LCD screen is good and has good colour depth and is high quality. Really solid camera. The only thing I would have liked to see would be a carry case which I know isn’t common for cameras as you usually buy your own but I don’t see why not at this price they can throw a cheaply camera case to protect your camera all you’re given here is a camera strap that protects it falling from your neck. Overall a solid camera with a good 12-60mm lens that can take some great portrait shots with fantastic quality bokeh. I would recommend..

Poor public relations!I am returning the GH6 to B & H.The final straws are;WiFi range is limited to 20 feet a very poor connection and unacceptable latency beyond 5 feet. GH 5 is much better. I expect an improvement in features not a degradation. I use this function daily in many scenarios for remote camera operation.I use preset Custom Functions on my Lumix cameras. Great feature. The GH6 Custom functions and buttons are more involved, an improvement if they worked as advertised. I have spent many hours customizing the settings only to have them become corrupted. That requires a reset. Start over. The GH5 allows you to save camera settings on an SD card. No such function on the GH6.A lesser irritation is with the user manual which is read only. Previous Lumix user manuals allowed searching, returning to previous page etc. GH6 manual only allows reading only. Panasonic manuals are locked, not allowing the user to annotate or even copy. Read only. Today we are able to annotate and make notes in books. Complete locking a user manual makes no sense.When the GH5 was introduced Lumix and others provided an extensive library of YouTube videos featuring the new features. They and others have not done so for the GH6. Lumix GH6 education is via live events. Filter the gibberish in hopes of getting an abbreviated explanation. Lumix has created a complex camera but has not provided a means for educating its users.Lumix GH cameras are criticized for their auto focus performance. In my opinion it has gotten better but remains well behind the competition. If auto focus is your priority Lumix is not your answer.On the positive; I am satisfied with both the stills and the video the GH6 delivers. The GH5 does a great job and I will continue to enjoy it. If Lumix does't get an acceptable customer service I have purchased their last product. Customer service at OM, Olympus, is remarkable. They answer the phone with English speaking knowledgeable staff. If you can't get answers to simple questions at Lumix what is the repair department like? How do you access it?BUYER BEWARE

They have added more articulation to the LCD screen, and a built in fan. Slapping the same lenses I use on the GH5 and GH5s reveals an even greater degree of sharpness. Exciting! The fact that you can record in ProRes directly into the camera is fantastic. And the rich number of codecs available is unparalleled in any other camera.This iteration of the firmware limits the ProRes to the 5728 x 3024 formats, unfortunately. So a 256GB CF card only holds about 25 minutes of video. But Panasonic has promised that future firmware will allow for SSD recordings through the built in USB-C port. Panasonic has a free software called Silkypix that allows you to edit RAW until Adobe releases their update.I am as excited about this camera as I was about the GH5. And at this price point, I will easily be able to buy a second copy.

Great Addition Camera Arsenal

I have been using a GH5 and a S1H since each first came out. Mostly shooting video, but also some still shots. I have now had the new GH6 for about a month. I have been able to test the GH6 in the snow with very harsh lighting and in non snow conditions with very good results.The GH6 improvement that benefits my production the most is the upgrade to the full V-Log over the V-Log L used in the GH5. With both my S1H and the GH6 shooting in V-Log, the footage is very closely color matched saving a lot of time in post.Another great improvement is the addition of the memory slot for the much faster CFexpress B card. Maybe it's a bad copy?

I think I'm going send the GH6 back to B&H. I've been shooting weddings on the GH5 and GH5S since they came out and am very familiar with the Lumix cameras. I got the GH6 and used it for a wedding. I wish I'd done more tests ahead of time. It's not terrible, but the footage is noisy. I was mainly shooting in vlog HD 60p Long GOP (the setting I use on the GH5 and GH5S) with dynamic boost turned on, so the base ISO in this mode is 2000. I could see noise on my SmallHD monitor which I thought was weird. And then watching the footage back in Premiere, all the footage is visibly noisy. I'll be able to clean it up in Resolve, but still. I've since experimented with turning the in-camera sharpening up all the way and it's still a bit soft. Which makes me wonder if I just got a bad copy? It's not unusable, but with the sharpening all the way up and a sigma 18-35 with Metabones .71, it should be positively crunchy. But it wasn't. Not that I want crunchy, but I figured turning sharpness all the way up should make it super-sharp and then I could have dialed it into my liking by taking it down a bit.Also, I'm using a Rode mic going into the mic in on the camera and it's recording 4 channels of audio and I can't turn it off. I don't have the XLR adapter and 4 channel is greyed out and off in the menu system. So why is it doing this?!When I put a Voigtlander lens on (which doesn't communicate with the camera), it should ask me if I want to change the focal length for the IS system. It doesn't. I can't even set it manually.Finally, the shutter button which I use as a video record button doing run and gun work, is way too sensitive. Even turning off the half press shutter option, it's still way too sensitive.I want to love this camera, and I hope I just had a bad copy, but I'm going back to my trusty GH5 for the next wedding.

Serious Pro Tool

I picked up the GH6 while I anxiously wait for a G9 successor. The tech available in this camera at this price point is amazing.The build quality is exceptional. The camera feels solid and durable, albeit a little bulky. It balances well with larger lenses like the Leica 10-25 f1.7. The dials are wonderfully tactile and provide just enough resistance. The menu system is great, although there are a ton of options at your disposal.For photography, this camera is excellent. The sensor is great, I love the extra megapixels over the G9, although it is hard to really tell without pixel peeping. The handheld highness mode is nothing short of amazing. It does seem to favor being over exposed rather than underexposed. The default metering mode does seem to underexpose 1-stop compared to the G9.Noise is well controlled and very comparable at high ISO to APS-C sensors likes those found on Fujifilm cameras. A little bit of post processing can clean up the noise if that's what your work requires. I find myself adding film grain to my images when they look too clean anyway, a little grain is my preference. (sample images no grain added)I'm not much of a video shooter, but I feel much more confident using this camera because of the vast array of tools and assists. The waveform is awesome to have, so is the luminance spot meter and punch-in for focus confirmation.I have no problem with the autofocus in this camera. In photo mode it is extremely fast and accurate. In video mode, it transitions nicely between subjects and tracks well for my needs. Autofocus is something that can/should always improve with new generations of cameras. As it is today, the autofocus in the GH6 is perfectly usable for me, however your needs may vary. Anyone coming from a DSLR will notice a marked improvement, that is to say, everything is relative.Overall, I am very happy I picked up this camera over the S5. The wide variety lenses available for M43 make this an affordable and complete system. The Panasonic Leica lenses are excellent with this camera. There are also a myriad of adapters and speed boosters available for those wanting to adapt older glass.

Superb Video Camera (with one big update needed)

Nothing Lumix there is likely already a firmware update coming soon that will fix this and I'm more than happy to wait to make this my perfect camera.

Video is high qualityIt also takes fantastic pics in raw. IBIS is amazing. Reduced rolling shutter is fantastic compared to similar priced cameras.Cons:Weight... heavier than most 4/3 cameras. But, feels very well built, and has a weather sealed (somehow) cooling fan.4/3 is an absolute marvel (considering small sensor size) for any work where light can be controlled, and of course in good light light.But, 4/3 does suffer in low light conditions where you have no control over lighting... therefore i still go with full frame for shoots where i can't control lighting.

I think I was one of the first ones to order the GH6 from B&H (right at 5pm when it became available). I love this camera. I have 2 GH5S's and I wish I had 2 more GH6's instead. V-log L in the Gh5S was too noisy so I use HLG and get a beautiful, low noise image. But the GH6 in V-Log or HLG are a step above when exposed correctly. Very clean. I have shot in prores @ 5.7K and in H.265 @ 5.7K. The H.265 is a little hard on my desk top editing computer (10 core, water cooled i9). But Prores plays like butter. The only thing is with Prores @ 1.9G per secound, my Angelbird 512G CF Express card only has 34minutes but in H.265 it is over 5 hours. The 1.3G per second Prores records for 54 minutes. It is my walk around photo lens although I some times use it for video too. The more I use the GH6 the more I love it. Maybe down the road I'll replace my GH5S's with Gh6's. I can always wish can't I.

amazing camera

first off, I love this camera. I'm loving that Lumix goes above and beyond when comes to features and usability. i noticed that the colors coming from the GH6 was upgraded and enhanced in certain photo styles. some issues I found was that there is a streaking issue when shooting with in bright light source tends to streak across the screen with a tint green or purple tint and I'm hoping that this is something Lumix can fix with a firmware update, but I feel like they are ignoring it only because I haven't heard of a response across the internet. second would be the noise when using dynamic range boost not a big dealbreaker but wished it was cleaner. But overall, I love this camera and it is a step up from the GH5 which was a beast when released.
