A decent loaf

Every loaf has turned out basically perfect, following the recipes, excluding the milk powder. The machine is quiet and is one of the few that are still mainly made out of metal. The downsides for this and most machines includes the loaf style not being suited to toasters (the slices are too tall), and the dispenser is ridiculously difficult to clean. In future I will just be adding sultanas, olives etc manually, so the automatic dispenser is a pointless addition for me at least. The instruction manual is adequate, the packaging unfortunately included styrofoam, Panasonic could do a lot better in that respect.

Have been using the SD-YR2550SST bread machine for about a month now, it's easy to use and clean. The mixer arm is easily removed from the bread and the bread is also easily removed from the pan.It has a separate automatic dispensers for the yeast and also raisin / nut which work great. when placing the bread pan into the machine it has a twist to lock-in which at first was a bit fiddly but once mastered is fine. The machine has 31options in its menu which also includes a gluten free section. On some angles the screen is hard to see as it has no backlight. All the bread thats been made has come out good and tasty with a firm crust.

Bought this as our son was yearning for crusty bread for lunch instead of soft sliced bread from the supermarket, and we can’t go to artisan bakeries every day. We are a very busy family but using this machine couldn’t be simpler. It comes with a good instruction manual which includes a wide range of recipes. We bung all the ingredients in the evening, set the timer and so far (5 recipes used) everything has worked perfectly. Fresh bread is ready in the morning. Tastes great, cooked perfectly and easy to clean. We have also made raisin bread during the day for afternoon tea as it only takes 4-5 hours. You can adjust the size and crust colour on some recipes. The only thing I found a bit difficult was removing the paddle because bread ingredients get stuck ... MoreBought this as our son was yearning for crusty bread for lunch instead of soft sliced bread from the supermarket, and we can’t go to artisan bakeries every day. I find soaking the tin for a short time loosens it all up and then easy to remove with a cloth. We now make fresh bread most days. Highly recommended, including for busy families due to ease of use and great performance.

Good bread maker improvements needed
10 February 2023

I bought my first Panasonic breadmaker about 20 years ago, and it was fantastic simple and easy to use. When it died, I changed over to a Breville, which I found wasnt as good. Then it died and we moved to the city, so no need for a breadmaker. Now (Feb 2023) decided to buy one again. There are a lot more settings and menus which seem to be an overkill and could be simplified to achieve the same results. I had concerns about how long the yeast dispenser and nuts/fruit dispenser will last, as I have found the more components on electrical equipment, the tendency for more issues, however will have to wait and see. it definitely needs a back light to enable seeing the menu, as I need a torch to to set the loaf size. This has been a common complaint over time for many consumers and after 34 years of making bread makers, I thought Panasonic wouldve sorted this simple and integral feature out. Unfortunately, like many companies, they dont seem to listen to feedback from their consumers. Also the recipe instructions need improvement as they are inconsistent and confusing, referring to steps in the book that are not easy to identify and dont make sense. The bread maker itself works really well, and we are very happy with the end product. We have been testing different bread flours and recipes and for a basic loaf, found the Laucke bread mixes (crusty white and multigrain) work well using rapid setting and without the need to buy/use additional ingredients as suggested in the Panasonic recipes. We would recommend this model Panasonic SD- YR2550SST

Great kitchen helper
7 May 2023

The whole family loves our bread machine. Have only tried a few recipes as I don’t like the fact that most ask for milk powder. But I found one we all like and only uses a few ingredients, I played with it a little to adjust it to our preferences and don’t feel the need to use other recipes just yet. We use it almost daily, set it up in the evening and wake up to the scent of fresh bread. Nothing to fault really, it does exactly what it’s supposed to do and does it well. Maybe just one thing, it can be noisy but that doesn’t bother us since we moved it to a back room.

I was sceptical about getting a bread maker. My stomach has always been upset by most breads, so I eat very little. There are only a few off the shelf breads I can eat.. I am very happy with this bread maker. Instructions were clear and it is very easy to operate. With a pre mix, it only takes a minute to put the ingredients in and set it going. 2:30 hours later the perfect load that doesn’t upset the stomach is ready. I was also hesitant when I thought about cleaning, but this machine is very quick and simple to clean. I couldn’t do without it now.

Perfect for crafting your own freshly baked bread
1 July 2022

We enjoy eating freshly baked bread created using healthy ingredients so we purchased the Panasonic SD-YR2550SST. This bread maker is an upgrade from an older basic Panasonic model, the SD-250. The SD-YR2550SST is brilliant. Over the past few months, we have baked Crusty Sour Dough, Brioche and Spelt loaves. We have ceased buying commercially or locally baked bread, preferring to buy raw ingredients or bread mixes from major supermarket chains instead. After reading several pages in the user manual, and baking several loaves, we now find the bread maker machine easy to operate and clean. The loaves sizes are ideal size because they can be consumed before the loaf becomes stale - there are no additives or preservatives incorporated in most recipes and bread mixes. ... MoreWe enjoy eating freshly baked bread created using healthy ingredients so we purchased the Panasonic SD-YR2550SST. This Bread Maker is my BEST kitchen purchase ever
31 May 2022

Perfect results every time, and it couldn’t be easier - you literally throw the ingredients in the tin, close the lid and it does the rest. The bread is light and professional looking with the crust cooked to the specifications chosen. The manual has great recipe varieties from white, grains and even panettone - we love them all and now I’m familiar with the quantities I’m successfully experimenting with my own variations. Haven’t had a fail yet and my family are loving the winter warming smell of baking bread in the kitchen as well as the scrumptious loaves appearing every morning! Even people who say they don’t bake would be astounded what they can produce with this magic machine.Best appliance purchase ever, sooo happy!!!

Well-built with a superior kneading blade
10 December 2022

The main differences for me, to the Breville and Sunbeam breadmakers I've had before:- The kneading blade doesn't fold. I vastly prefer this design as it only leaves a thin 'knife' indent in the loaf and the blade is easier to clean.- The smallest loaves in the recipe book are quite large (~420g flour). Haven't tried how well going smaller than that would work. The bread pan and blade are nice and heavy but I don't know yet if that means they're more durable. Yeast is loaded separately in the plastic lid; can be a bit tricky to contend with the static. There's good variety in the recipe book.
