My first shredder was a Fellowes shredder that was great and lasted for years. When it broke, I was looking for a bargain and bought a Staples OmniTech shredder with a rebate that was an offer I couldn't refuse. Though the Staples shredder was marketed as a 14-sheet shredder, it would jam when feeding only 2 sheets through. Still it lasted for years, jamming frequently, over-heating, and under-performing. When some of the plastic pieces (separating the blades) broke, I was optimistic about replacing the Staples shredder with a Fellowes. My Fellowes Powershred 60Cs shredder is 10 times better than the Staples OmniTech. Feeding 10 sheets is no problem. It's a lot less noisy than the Staples, and I can see no flaws. The Powershred 60CS is suitable for Small Office / Home Office locations where shredding requirements are generally sporadic. The design is compact and doesn't take up much space. The waste bin has decent capacity (22L) which means it doesn't need to be emptied too often under medium use; it also has a window so you can see when it is getting full. Note that the shredding unit sits on the waste bin, so to empty the bin you must lift off the shredding unit first. The cross-cut cutter works well for paper (up to 10 sheets in one go), staples, paper clips and even credit cards, but I would not recommend anything stiffer than that (e.g. no CDs). The mouth of the shredder has a clever safety feature to protect you from accidentally getting your hands too close to it.

I should knock off a few stars as the contraption is top heavy and has no gripper handles on the sides with which to move it, but the overall performance of this purchase is extremely satisfying. This is my first Fellowes shredder and it is probably the Lexis of shredders. Key to success is having greater than 3 minute run time before the device heats up. This one has a 6 minute run time and will take 10 pages at a time. A 10 minute run time would be ideal, but that gets you into a far more expensive model. This is a true medium use shredder, a far cry from often relatively expensive lighter versions that have a few niceties (like gripper handles) but don't last a year and can't muster its way through a folder full of shredding. It is a great value for the money and very efficient.

I haven’t used it yet, so I can’t talk about that. BUT I immediately noticed one very annoying feature. It’s fine that it’s not on wheels, but the fact that it has no “lip” or handles or any way to LIFT in order to MOVE it is a very serious design flaw that I think will only prove more problrmatic as the basket fills and becomes heavier. There’s a lip on the right side, but as soon as you use it, you realize it’s only attached to the top, so the top comes off! My last shredder (an Aurora) allowed me to lift and move it without this problem.
I purchased the Powershred 60C to replace a much older Fellowes model that ended up in the shedder grave yard. The 60 C is very powerful and extremely quiet. In the first few days I was able to shed three “containers” of cross-cut sheddings with ease and without further damage to my ear drums. I would recommend this make/model to anyone looking for a real power house.
The Fellows 60CS-10 Shredder a good machine for the money. Paper is crosscut shredded to a size of 1/8" x 1-1/2" consistantly. The Motor is quiet and the Fellows 60CS-10 shreds an8-1/2" x 11" paper in 2.3 seconds. If you use this shredder in your home office you will appreciate one key safety feature. The shredder automatically STOPS if fingers touch the silver trim at the shredder slot. The trim is sensitive enough to sense if your dog sniff's the slot or, if a paw or, tail comes in contact with the trim.Shredding 10-sheets takes less than 3-seconds with the same crosscut security. There is also a wide smokey clear window at the top of the shredder paper bin to indicate when the bin is at least near full. A green power indicator lets you know the shredder is on ... MoreThe Fellows 60CS-10 Shredder a good machine for the money. Paper is crosscut shredded to a size of 1/8" x 1-1/2" consistantly. The motor is a bit heavy making the machine slightly top heavy yet, the shredder is generally stable. As stated this is a good shredder for the money. The Child and Pet Safety Features make it a great value esspically for Home Offices.Happy Shredding!
This shredder was delivered to me just today. The side of the box had been previously ripped open and taped closed, but the shredder appeared to have no damage. I unpacked it, put it in my home office next to my printer table and set the shredder top onto the basket. What!?! it wobbled just sitting on the wood floor. I tried it in other locations, and it still wobbled. Mind you, this thing has no casters, but rather a flat bottom (or so I thought). I removed the shredder top and inspected the bottom of the basket. Low and behold, there was a large bulge in the bottom surface that, unless it was setting on carpet, caused the whole thing to wobble. I immediately put it back in the box and returned it to the store, without even testing how it functions. I only gave it ... MoreThis shredder was delivered to me just today. My old Fellowes paper shredder of 15 years suddenly jammed. I figured it was old and things don't always last forever. Ordering and delivery went smoothly. No complaints there. However, whereas my old shredder had a pull out bin to catch the paper, on this model you have to lift off the the top of the unit which houses the motor, etc.. It's heavy and awkward, and where do you put it in a home office situation to empty the bin. That's just an occasional problem. But the feed slot is is less than a half inch wide. Which makes it difficult to get a good rhythm going feeding papers in. Unless you unfold each sheet and stack it neatly. But then you have the time constraint of only having 6 minutes to shred before you risk the motor overheating. I bought 60CS to replace a Fellowes PS 30 that I had and liked for 10 years. This new model is not quiet but not loud. Not sure how what thickness of paper they use to test it, but it can't really shred 10 sheets of 20lb paper. The slot is only a quarter inch wider than an 8.5" sheet of paper and is a very narrow slot with no angled guide to get the paper into the slot. These two things require two hands to get the paper perfectly lined up into the slot. If you're off, the paper will start crunching up on either side. Also the auto-on sensor is ony in the middle, so small receipts need to be placed in the middle of the slot. Also, the plastic window that let's you know the unit is full is so dark you can barely see in it. Poor design. Sad Face.
For the price it is certainly good value. BUT there is an inherent design fault that will cause it to seize up and jam. I have been using it for several months now and after about 2000 pages it noticeably slowed down, by 3000 pages it seized up. I use the shredder oil regularly but this does not help prevent a mechanical blockage. Basically you have to remove the plastic cover and clear the compacted pieces paper from the end of the cutter blade assembly. If they had made the assembly longer that the slot this would not happen but unfortunately both are the same length. the effect is that the compressed pieces of paper at the end do not drop freely into the bin and form a hard blockage that acts as a brake on the cutter blades. This not only slows down the cutter but also causes it to overheat rather quickly after no more than 50 continuous pages. It is a design fault and the only solution is to take the cover off and use a spike and very strong small screwdriver to remove the obstruction. After this is works perfectly again.
