For a wheel to perform properly, it is important for the rim to be centered between the locknuts of the hub, or “dished”. To check this, and to make precision adjustments, a wheel alignment gauge (also called a “dishing tool”) is a must. An accurate and truly versatile wheel alignment gauge that belongs along side every truing stand. The WAG-4 allows easy checking of the dish on road, mountain, or BMX wheels from 16” to 29” (ETRTO or ISO rim sizing of 305-630). Works with any hub width. Can be accurately used with the tire still on the wheel.

This is a great tool that can verify whether or not your truing stand's centering is calibrated correctly. Also, dishing in a truing stand can be tricky, since the hub's concentricity comes into play. Adjustment of the gauge knob can sometimes be a little unnerving - it's not easy to move in small increments.

Bought this as a gift for my daughter who builds her own bikes. She says Park Tools are to bikes what Snap-on tools are to mechanics, top notch!

I had purchased a used truing stand but was fairly certain I didn't have a properly dished wheel to ensure that the stand was centered. My choices were: buy the 1554-1 centering gauge which was out of stock anyway, buy the WAG-4 which would likely require tire removal to work properly, or buy the WAG-5 which looks more durable and enables the tire to remain installed. The WAG-4 offered the most utility for the money.
Easy to use and heavy duty. No need to worry about breaking this one having it get out of calibration - it's very simple.
Love it worked great!! My mtbike rear rim needed to be replaced so I took it all apart and put a new rim on and it turned out perfect with your wheel alignment gauge!Thank you Park Tool.
The alignment gauge us pretty low-profile and stores fairly easily. It doesn't fold like the other Park Tools model, but this fits in the top compartment of my tool chest abd would easily fit on a shelf or in a tool crate. It's easy to use and has blocks that slide to fit the rim diameter and allow for alignment to be checked with a tire mounted to the rim. It's a pretty simple but effective setup and seems like it will last for a long time.
If you have the consumer stand then I'd definitely buy this tool. It's the best one for what it does. But if you have the shop truing stand (TS-2 or TS-2.2) then don't bother with this tool. Instead, look at buying the Park 1554-1. The 1554-1 a gage that helps you center your stand. I purchased both and don't see the use for this tool now. Again, with the consumer stand, this tool would be a tremendous help.PROS: It worksCONS: Not Always NecessaryBEST USES: Keep In the Garage, Road Bikes, Mountain Bikes

This is a good dishing tool and works with tires on or off. It does the job for sure and JensonUSA had the same price as everyone else. I just think it's over priced by Park Tool. It's made well except the sliding hub guage is a bit cheap to me. I just feel there is no reason that it is priced at almost $50. I purchase Park Tools sparingly as much is just over priced in my opinion.PROS: Lightweight, Does the Job, VersatileCONS: Over PricedBEST USES: Road Bikes, Mountain Bikes, Keep In the Garage
