I’m 153cm tall, quite petite. I ordered a small and it fits just right. The length covers half my back side (keep in mind that it isn’t baggy looking) and the sleeves sit just past my wrists. It isn’t a hugging fit on me (since I didn’t want it to be), I can still wear a small hoodie underneath due to the material of the sweater being slightly stretchy- although, a large size would be more ideal if you want to wear fleece hoodies/jumpers underneath (speaking to my fellow petites out there). I was introduced to this sweater in 2016, and have been buying them regularly (on sale, ideally) in my favorite colors since then. It is my favorite sweater, in particular because one can modulate temperature easily through the zipper. I also like the pockets. I noticed that since sometime around 2019, the sweater has been cut slimmer around the hips. Please go back to the more generous cut. No one wants a tight sweater. I still have all my original older sweaters, so I know this quantitatively. The larger size has longer arms, so that is not an option for me.

Normally size M is a good fit to me regardless on the gender designation. This fleece however does indeed run small and i would say that the M size here is far more towards normal S size. Also sleeves ran a bit short for me personally.As far as product quality goes, well, this is definitely high quality fleece. I have nothing negative to say on that.I got mine from quite decent sale offer, hence the women's variant. (Plus i like the sleeve pocket far more that breast pocket on men's version). For the fit reasons said before, I will be giving this one forwards to my relative tho whom it'll be a far better fit.

I don't understand all of the complaints about sizing. Unless you are looking for a super relaxed style fit (which wouldn't be as warm) or normally buy from companies that inflate their sizes, this is absolutely true to size and the size chart. I think the sleeves are a good length as well. This sweater is super comfortable, warm. I got the "birch white" and it is true to the color on the website. This item will be a new cold weather staple for me. If you prefer a more relaxed fit try Columbia or LL Bean who make similar products with roomier cuts. I like the full zip version of this better than the T-zip which I also have. On my T-zip, the sleeves are too short and on this one they are just right. There was a shipping error with my repair and a new jacket was sent to me to replace my old one that was lost in transit. I am happy to have the new jacket but there have been changes in the quality and not for the better. The jacket still fits nicely and the inner fleece is soft. However, the zipper pulls are not as heavy duty. The outside material is also not nearly as soft. I will be transparent and say my older better sweaters are over 10 years old and really do not show much wear. However, they probably were not made with as many recycled products. I am happy to know the jackets are made by a greener process now but wish it wasn't at the cost of comfort. Some ambivalence here. The jacket's design and features are good. The Hemlock Green color is really beautiful. The material is, for a fleece, somewhat lightweight but very soft and comfy. That said, the jacket runs very, very small and fits a bit strangely. The arms are adequately long but are on the tight side (even for someone thin). The overall length of the jacket is also decent, but with movement, tends to ride up in the back. Haven't washed it yet, but noticed that there are no directions written in English. The jacket is also very pricey, and were it not on sale, I wouldn't have purchased it.
The better sweater is a perfect sweater for all areas that sweaters are needed. I have been shopping REI as a member for several years and have purchased numerous sweaters. My wife and I both really love these sweaters. Full zip up and comfortable fitted for all activities. You can dress these up or down depending on where you’re going. My wife is in the medical field and the hospital has a way of making sure they keep the temperature down and she can match the color option or code to her scrubs. During the outbreak of COVID she was working double shifts so 24 hours with this sweater on and every night she would throw it in the wash and they all still look new. Very durable and great looking, enjoy

The mediums that I tried were much too small, even though my older mediums are a perfect fit. I tried a large on in a store and it was a good fit so I ordered one online but the arms were too tight and I had to return it. I ended up getting one from the store and for some reason I cant wear it all day like I can wear my older ones. Im having some kind of irritation/itching after I have it on for a while. Im wondering if the materials in the new ones are different than the older ones? Ive washed it and continue to wear it for short periods because I really like it. I've spent way more time than I'd like dealing with all the pilling that comes with this sweater. By the third or fourth time I wore it, it was covered in pills. A sweater stone did remove them, but now the sweater is covered in the stray threads that the pills were stuck to. It looks awful. Maybe my expectations are unreasonable, but when I dropped what Patagonia charges for this sweater, I expected it would hold up and continuously look nice, NOT create a ton of work and still look sloppy. I've read that the pills are temporary to the new garment, but this has been going on for over a year, despite following care instructions carefully (gentle cycle, by itself, no dryer, etc). Disappointing given what I paid for this sweater.

I love the light gray(birch) colour but current blue won me over. I have ended up liking the sweater a lot more than anticipated because I found the right fit. I would definitely recommend trying it on in store if you can. Hopefully this review will be helpful if that’s not an option. Love the 1/4 zipper front and the zipper pocket in the upper sleeve. I don’t like to wear my phone but the upper sleeve pocket looks plenty big for that. It’s turned out to be an overall great choice for me!
