I tried this on along with five other vests while at REI. This is the only vest that was flattering and actually gave me a shape rather than looking square and boxy. I think it is because the fabric stretches to you. Because of this the underarm also fits perfectly. Most vests I try on are tight in the hip, big in the underarm, tight in the chest, and look square and ill fitting. This fits beautifully. I normally take a L and bought a L in this. I bought it as an extra layer indoors. The gray is lovely but would love to see it also in wine or burgundy! If you usually have difficulty finding a vest that is flattering and want real quality you will love this!

I had high expectations for this vest. Its my first purchase at Patagonia and Im dissappojnted at the quality. Date of purchase was 12/17/23, less than month, worn for layering, have not washed it yet. Though the color is beautiful, quality is lousy. The front of it is linty and fuzz balls all over. I expected better quality for the price and reputation of Patagonia

My husband has the Better Sweater hoodie by Patagonia and I really liked the material and quality, so ordered the equivalent vest for myself. It’s great for cold days under a jacket and around the house. It’s very warm and comfortable. It is a slim fit so I could have gone with small or medium as I normally wear a medium because I need it in the shoulders. I went with a small and it fits well. The arm holes are big enough. So many vests have arm holes that are too small. The fit is very flattering which you normally can’t say about a vest.

I absolutely love this pullover. It runs true to size with a long sleeve length that is appreciated. The material is soft so if you chose not to have a base layer it will be comfortable. I thought this would be just a basic pullover but the quality and comfort surpassed my expectations. It is definitely a "go-to" top...great for travel as it is warm and wicks water so dries fast.
I have a few of these vests but in the men’s and they are incredible quality. I decided to try the women’s because of the cut obviously but was really unpleasantly surprised to find the fabric of the women's version was quite a bit thinner, so much so it couldn’t support the weight of the zipper so it was like a limp noodle on an open vest. I returned and kept the men’s version which was on sale. I did like the length, I am 5’9 155lbs and got a large in women’s and it basically came down to my hips. And it’s still a nice vest but not at that price for the quality of that fabric.
I purchased this vest in Birch White a few years ago. It is a great piece for layering. The birch white is more of a grey and it goes with just about any color of shirt that you would choose to layer under it. I went with a size large (usually I am a size medium in patagonia) because I wanted this to fit a bit larger incase I decided to wear a sweater under it. I have admired this vest on others for awhile and was so happy to purchase one for myself!
I was disappointed to see that the vest doesn't have a placket behind the main zipper to help keep wind and cold out. It does have a small backing at the top neckline to make the zipper comfortable but that is all. I purchased an LLBean fleece sweater jacket this year that has an excellent placket that runs the length of the main zipper. Thats how to make a quality product. The Patagonia product description online says it has a kissing welt closure and a hidden wind flap. What and where are those?The sizing and cut is fine as I usually wear a small in Patagonia. Its medium warm.
I buy one or more of these vests almost every year. I'm still wearing one that is from the original batch. The newer ones seem to not wear quite as well, with lots of pilling, but they still are good. However, this year the sizing changed again. I used to take a small, then the small became too big (my weight hasn't changed) and so this year I ordered the XS and it's soooooo long. I mean extremely long. I'll keep them, but not my favorite cut.
This is a lovely Patagonia Better Sweater and I was pleased to find the purple color available in my size. Unfortunately I had to return due to cologne or perfume odor. I am guessing that this is from someone previously trying on/wearing the jacket. I allergic to synthetic fragrances and had to return asap. I typically wear a size XL, which is what I ordered, and found this to be true to size.
Great quality and great looks! That makes this better sweater vest better than the BEST!B/c it is BETTER THAN THE BEST!!!! + it is so warm b/c of the BEST materials and you don't get the bulkiness of a heavy winter coat esp when driving. You have lots of wiggle room, not claustrophobic feeling when in the driver's seat!
