I absolutely love the quality of this shirt. The flannel is incredibly soft and the internal therm-green lining is phenomenal. The style is super nice and this can be worn for most occasions. HOWEVER, the fit of this is hot garbage. First, using this to layer anything under it other than a standard t-shirt is a no go. I'm 5'10" and weigh 170lbs. I bought a size Medium and the length fits great, but I can barely button the shirt if I throw a hoodie on under it. The sleeve length is perfect but there is zero room to move. If I attempt to use my arms to pick something up or just in general move around it feels like I'm going to rip this thing straight down the middle of the back. My one constant complaint with Patagonia is its sizing. Nothing is standard & it's ... MoreI absolutely love the quality of this shirt. You'll love this shirt if it fits, but if it doesn't it'll just be a let down.

This shacket (shirt jacket) is conceptually excellent, and upon unboxing it I was impressed by the sheer quality and construction of the item. However, upon wearing it, I was extremely let down by its execution. For context, I am a proud and happy owner of multiple lightweight fjord flannel shirts (I have at least 8-10 of them in my closet) and pima cotton button down shirts, and I wear an S in both these shirt styles. This shacket fits like an XS width-wise, and seems to run longer than those models, which I find rather puzzling. The arms are way too tight and so is the torso. I was actually unable to button the shacket up while I am easily able to button up the lightweight fjord flannel and the pima cotton shirt easily and with room to spare. If this is to be worn as a mid-layer/outer-layer, wouldn't you build something that is less form-fitting or the same fit or, god forbid, even baggier than your lighter-weight shirts? I am a huge Patagonia fan - love the brand and the values you folks stand for, but some product decisions are genuinely questionable. Hope future iterations can be improved upon as this product definitely has the potential to be a bestseller if not for the strangely constricting fit.

Great insulated shirt / jacket. Patagonia is always a challenge with fit. I always fall between a medium and a large. I’m 188lbs, 42 inch chest and 33 inch waist. Athletic build and a little on the chubby side with a small gut and love handles haha. Tried both large and medium and bought medium. Both fit but I typically like things to fit more on the fitted side. This is fitted with front falling just below fly and back mid butt cheek. Able to fit a hoodie underneath comfortably (but fitted) Sleeve length on the large was also a bit long for how I like things to fit. I don’t like sleeves to extend beyond the base of my wrist. If you’re looking for a bit of a baggier fit i would go large. If you like fitted and and are built like me medium is perfect. Will get a lot ... MoreGreat insulated shirt / jacket. I don’t have a lot of jackets that aren’t technical or down so this fills a lot of voids for me in the gear closet.

I've been a big Patagonia supporter and customer over the past 20+ years and this is the first time I've ever been compelled to write a review. This is the first piece of Patagonia gear I've ever owned that is a straight up loser. The fit is way too small and very weird, the fabric is not great, I bought the brown version which looks like brown and black on the site and is actually brown and navy blue. This is just an overall bad piece. LL Bean makes a comparable product that is much better. Can't believe I am this disappointed in a piece of Patagonia gear, I own other Fjord Flannels that are staples and I straight up wear them until they are totally destroyed. I thought this would be great as a light fall/spring jacket and it really doesn't do the job. Sorry ... MoreI've been a big Patagonia supporter and customer over the past 20+ years and this is the first time I've ever been compelled to write a review. I wish they made this with a fleece inner vs. the polyester feeling inner that they've used. I'm personally not as big a fan of that sticky-cold feeling I get when I have polyester next to skin, and given the shirt-jacket style, I was originally hoping to wear this with t-shirts with my arms exposed.Otherwise, this thing is at least as warm as many lightweight vests (e.g. Patagonia nano-puff)
I really, really, wanted to love this flannel shirt. The brushed flannel material outside is super soft and the insulated liner is equally soft. The pattern and colors are awesome. However, the shirt has the ergonomics of a cardboard box. The pattern cut of the shirt has no arm gussets which leads to the shirt constantly pinching in the back and arms anytime you use them. Reaching for something, pinches... Bending down to grab something....pinches. I have a 33" waist at 175lbs and bought a Large. While I do have a broad back from the gym, it seems as if no thought was had into making the shirt ergonomic. Sizing up to an XL seems ridiculous when all Patagonia had to add was an arm gusset to the pattern.
If you are looking for a midweight jacket to run to the truck to do errands etc, look no further. Patagonia's Fjord Jacket is perfect! It adds warmth without the bulk for quick trips in and out of stores. I pair it with a full zip light layer on those days that are a bit colder and windy and it works great. 5'9" 190 lbs with an athletic build the large is ideal. This is my fourth Fjord Jacket and won't be my last.
Who can resist the mid-weight Fjord flannels from Patagonia?!?! This piece steps up the game with light insulation and pockets!!! As the temps drop, make the transition from non-insulated flannel to this and never miss a day without your favorite flannel. I had to go medium (5-7, 155-lbs), even though on the Recycled Wool Hoodie and R1 Cap performance pieces I use the small size.
Im 5ft 8 and have a big chest, so most things dont fit me how I want it to fit. And this shirt jacket was no exception. But I knew going in Id probably have to hem it how I want it. That being said it is super comfortable, and soft, and will be perfect for working in the workshop. My arms are big but I dont feel any tightness in the shoulders or sleeves. It slides right on, which is inviting. Already living it
Patagonia did a great job with this piece. It's comfortable, warm, and has a great soft feel. Keep in mind there are a few different things called "Fjord flannel," this is a midweight piece, kind of a shirt-jacket.From the photos it's not easy to tell, but there's a thin quilted lining for a bit of extra warmth, the cut has enough extra room for layering - slightly bigger cuffs and longer sleeves - without being baggy or coat-like.Slash pockets at the hips are great to put your hands in outside, which I really appreciate vs many other midweight shirts.Cotton body breathes well, but is 0% waterproof. This makes a good outer layer on a crisp spring day, or midlayer in cooler or wetter temps. Love it!
