Appears to me that Patagonia is a company that takes its brand, reputation, and product quality seriously. Many other high-end brands focus on the first two attributes mentioned but Patagonia does all three. Have become a fan and have now purchased three items. Not disappointed at all. As usual Patagonia sets the standard for others to follow/imitate. I am 5ft 10in 155 lbs and the medium fits neatly over a shirt; not too loose nor too snug. The pockets and their placement is just right; all with zippers. The chest pocket is large enough to hold an iPhone 12 in a somewhat bulky case fairly easily but its probably intended for eyewear; regardless its very useful and easily accessed. If you didn't know better you would never think that this is made of fleece as it looks like the knit that you find in sweaters. I have this in the pull over quarter zip and vest, both sized XL, both cared for the same way. I washed them before wearing and the vest shrank what seems like a full size and the pull over did not. I received as a gift, so unfortunately no receipt. The XL vest is 23" across the pits, and the pull over is a good 2" wider at the same point, so now it's a snug fit. I'm 5'10 220, and the XL pullover fits loosely, I can wear it over a rugby shirt comfortably but now the vest is snug over just an oxford. I get that it's probably supposed to be somewhat slim, but it feels off a whole size.Otherwise, the material looks nicer than a regular fleece, which is good for a professional work environment, and the pilling is manageable w/ a fabric shaver. This Better Sweater unfortunately was not for me. I am 162bs, almost 511 and have a 32-33 wait. This medium vest just did not lay well on my midriff as it buckled between my sternum and belly button. The shoulders fit was a ok, and the arm holes were fine for my slender build. The length was about 4 inches below my belt and I personal like vests to stop at my belt of slightly below. I was looking for a somewhat tight fitting vest like their old synchilla vest which I wish they'd bring back! - and this vest had to much material which did not make it hang well on me. It was obvious that a small would have been too small. Too bad everything else was signature Patagonia quality. Thank you for easy returns Patagonia!
Fit and look are absolutely perfect and I was thrilled with the better sweater vest and jacket. What a bummer it was when I noticed how quickly the products pilled in normal office use. I have not even encountered anything like this in cheap clothes. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the product, except to people who do not mind being busy with a sweater stone, which is a huge pity because otherwise these are spot on. The products should come with a red flag and a sweater stone.
This is the second sweater vest I have bought from Patagonia.I like a loose fit and this is great in that area.It was the color I was disappointed in.It is described as a Nouveau Green.I was looking for a green vest but this color is definitely not my favorite. It looks more bluish-grey than green. I will keep it but wish the color had been described more accurately.
I purchased this as a Christmas present for my mom and she absolutely loves it. The quality of the material and the stitching are typical Patagonia awesomeness. This vest is great for layering and is very lightweight. It also looks great with a variety of options: T-shirt, long sleeve, etc. This fit true to size. My mom wears a size S and this fit perfectly. I couldn't edit my old comment, but I'm updating my review. I did as the Patagonia agent suggested and took the shrunken vest into a store, they compared old to new in the same size, and the difference was significant. They really helped me out swapping it for a new one. Excellent store in Shadyside, Pittsburgh. The instructions say to wash warm, dry gentle, which I did, but I think from now on I will only be air drying, it it's poly after all.
This an excellent alternative to the down vest. It is warm and comfortable. In particular i purchased this vest to wear underneath the Patagonia Men’s down hoody on cold days while visiting New York City and it provided much needed warmth and comfort.The quality is high consistent with my experience with all of the Patagonia clothing that i own.I highly recommend this product.
Im 5'10, 175 pounds and the length is perfect, reaches my tailbone, and covers my beltline. The fit is slightly narrower than I would have preferred, the vest hugs my chest a little more than I would ideally want, but it is very easy to move in it. Im hoping it will stretch out a little so it will fit without binding if I use it over a midlayer.I like the zippered pockets forr secure storage of keys and wallet while on the slopes. The material is about as thick as sweatpants, with a fleece interior, plus a knit outer layer. The fit is comfortable over a thin baselayer, and the pockets are roomy and soft inside.Hopefully the vest will breathe and shed body heat and moisture during exertion on the slopes, and stay dry for the chairlift back up.
