As I write this, I am wearing a Lightweight Synchilla Snap T that is almost 15 years old and is still in perfect condition. My wife has one that is more than 20 years old and is still going strong. They are warm, never go out of style and last forever. Some people gripe about the lack of pockets = point taken. The fit is "relaxed", meaning if you want layers underneath, go with your regular size; but if not, you can easily size down. I wear an XL in everything else Patagonia but I have this one and one of the heavier model both in Size L. Lots of people complain about the lint they throw off; so the first thing you should do with a new one is toss it into the washing machine = problem solved. Never, never, NEVER put these in the dryer! Totally unnecessary = they dry ... MoreAs I write this, I am wearing a Lightweight Synchilla Snap T that is almost 15 years old and is still in perfect condition. There's really only one problem with this iconic garment: You'd better choose your color carefully, because like being married you're gonna be enjoying the view for a long, LONG time!

This pullover is brutal. It sheds tons of little beige fibers all over anything and everything it touches. It might as well be made of glitter. I own 5-6 synchillas in varying Color-ways and Ive never had this issue with any of them. Its almost completely unwearable because once you put in on you're covered in fibers. Ive washed/dried it over 10 times and it still hasnt gotten any better. Ive tried lint-rolling it endlessly in hopes theres a limit to the shedding, but it never gets better. Buy a different color way, the oatmeal and navy is an actual nightmare. (Never thought Id be so dramatic over a pullover but here we are lol)

I have one that I have owned for more than 10 years and it is still in pristine condition. My wife has one that's more than 20 years old and likewise is in perfect condition. FWIW: Plenty of people gripe about lint when new; so just toss yours into the washing machine before your first wear. Never, NEVER place this garment into the dryer! No need to, they dry in less than 2 hours max. My only advice is choose your color carefully, because you're going to have that color for a long, LONG time! I'm about to grab the Spring Salvia Green colorway.

This is probably the nicest fleece I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning. It’s amazingly warm, super soft and just looks and fits great. Paired with some Patagonia corduroy jeans, and it’s the perfect fall outfit. The only downside is, it’s probably contributing to some pretty intense micro plastic pollution, it sheds a lot of fibres, which I’m not fond off. I’d feel more inclined to by several, in the various colours, if this wasn’t the case. A natural fibre fleece option, like wool, would be something I’d like to see.
I was gifted the oatmeal Heather version for Christmas and its simply unbearable. I wore it out of the package and it shed an unbeatable amount on ever surface of my home. I wore it in my car and the seatbelt straps were absolutely ruined and it took me an hour to de lint everything.I washed this thing easily 12 times, delicate cycle, regular cycle, and even heavy duty.It WONT STOP SHEDDING.It was a gift so I cant complain but I simply cant and dont wear it. Maybe its just that color in particular but the hype was lost on me
Purchased the joy/pitch blue because the fit and print were exactly what I was looking for. As much as I wanted to keep this, I returned because it shed relentlessly. Took it off and the black undershirt I had had millions of micro plastic pieces all over it. Gets all over your car and anything you come into contact with. Not sure what’s going on with these, but they are clearly defective. Washed and lint rolled over and over and it never got any better. Just a heads up.
Haven't had it a year yet, wore it for one winter/spring season. Only washed maybe 3-4 times, always in cold water, and air dried. Today, catching the light just so, I can see the forearms/cuffs, front by the hem and sides are pilling. What??? I asked Patagonia about that, and they said use a pumice stone (which seems wrong for such a new garment, or really for any garment). Is pilling what happens when the material is recycled? They never used to do that. It's disappointing. I love the feel and warmth, and the pilling makes it look grubby and cheap. Not quite the look I'm after...
I purchased the Oatmeal Heather style Synchilla Lightweight Snap-T Pullover and wore it for over a year. The product is soft, comfortable and keeps the body very warm over winter. However the fleece would not stop shedding all over my clothes, it was frustrating having the fleece fibers all over my pants and tops. Even after machine washing the jumper numerous times, the product would continue to shed. It became a very embarrassing product to wear having all the fibers come on to anything you touch.Thankfully Patagonia has refunded me a gift card in the amount of the purchase. But I am very disappointed for the expensive price you pay, that its not reflected in the quality of the product.
I love this lightweight Synchilla. Ive only used it to chill around home and run errands. But even being lightweight (more of a mid weight to be honest) it doesnt seem like it would be good for high endurance activities. I run hot anyway so Id be good with just a long sleeve wool shirt and a wind breaker to start off with in low 60 degree weather. Anyways super comfy and I have yet to feel the original Synchilla which is heavier and warmer but Ill see if I need it as we get closer to winter but I doubt it. Im happy with what I got and so is my wife.
This thing sheds so much. I noticed on first wear that this fleece was shedding fibers like crazy. My seatbelt was absolutely covered in them. I read some other reviews that said to wash it several times and that would stop the shedding. I washed it three times and it’s still shedding. A lot. Disappointing that Patagonia would make something this bad, and that REI would choose to sell it.
