I really like the fit and feel of this Flannel. It is extremely comfortable. It is warm but I wouldnt wear it by itself in cold weather its not a super heavy flannel. For me its the perfect weight I can layer under it with a long sleeve merino in cooler temps. Or wear a T shirt under it in 50-60 degree temps. The length is perfect its not too short it actually covers your waist line and then some but not overly long its perfect in length. It fits well around my torso and doesn't look wide or stretched out. If you are 5 foot 11 inches or 6 foot a large should fit you well. I have a more athletic build I have some meat Im not slim.

Its hard to find a flaw with these shirts. This purchase added numbers 2 and 3 to my collection of these shirts. I work from home and these make comfortable everyday casual wear for work or play as well as a warm, durable outer-layer in cool-weather mountain biking. I am 5-11 and 185lbs with an athletic build and these fit perfectly in every dimension, even after a few wash-dry cycles. Great sleeve length, perfect fit across the shoulders, not too bulky or roomy, but not restrictively slim. Goldilocks. They are as close to perfect as I have encountered in off-the-rack clothing.

This is a great shirt, a little bit thicker and warmer than many plaid shirts, a real working flannel, perfect here in the Pacific Northwest.Cotton breathes well and has a nice soft hand, which hopefully does not impact longevity. The fit is fantastic for me, it might be old-school -- fits very true to size and has actually long enough sleeves, hard to find! Not a super-slim fashion fit; looks very sharp.I'm 5'11" and wear a 14.5 shirt with 33.5" sleeves, size Small fits great. Also tried on the Medium, the difference wasn't too much but it had more room in the body. Many companies I have the problem where either the torso and shoulders fit, but the sleeves are too short and the hem rides up, or I'm just swimming in it.Last thing, there are a few different items ... MoreThis is a great shirt, a little bit thicker and warmer than many plaid shirts, a real working flannel, perfect here in the Pacific Northwest.Cotton breathes well and has a nice soft hand, which hopefully does not impact longevity. The fit is fantastic for me, it might be old-school -- fits very true to size and has actually long enough sleeves, hard to find! I decided to buy from Patagonia because I like their unabashed stances on issues that are important to me, especially the climate, human rights and anti-racism. Also, I like the fact that they're based in Ventura, just one county over from my Santa Barbara County home. I'm very pleased with the comfy, cozy flannel shirt I purchased. It looks great, and works perfectly with a pair of jeans for an everyday casual or work outfit, as well as great for hiking in chillier weather. I didn't give the product a super-outstanding (5 star) rating because I wish it had been made in the United States. I was under the impression, evidently erroneously, that Patagonia's products were made in the US. This particular shirt was made in Vietnam. While I'm not opposed to purchasing consumer goods from other countries -- after all, it's pretty much unavoidable, so why pretend to have such unrealistic expectations? -- it nevertheless would have been nice to have a product made in my home country. That said, I will definitely continue to buy products from Patagonia and recommend them to others.
A very fine shirt. I have two of the original Fjord flannels. Why go thinner with the material? I wish both weights were still offered. But the org cotton for these ~ wowzer, nonpareil. So much softer than myriad other flannel options out there. These ar perfectly assembled and sewn. The shoulders and sleeves do indeed seem to be cut more trim than they had been. Grateful they went no further. For someone 5' 11" and 150 who happens to come with longer arms... the size M fits nearly tailor made. The fresh teal and the aurora borealis options ~ really handsome patterns.
I have three of these shirts I bought back in 2018-2019; they are some of my favorites for daily wear throughout fall and winter. Sturdy, thick, and they hold up to plenty of hiking and washing!I had to return the 2022 shirt I bought; I picked it up at REI and felt like it seemed thinner than the old versions (while still costing the same!) but figured that might be incorrect. Comparing them at home, it's half as thick, more comparable to the lightweight flannel I'd purchased back in 2019.Maybe some customers were asking for a thinner flannel? I'm not sure why they're still charging so much for way less material. Returned the shirt and will look elsewhere for thicker, sturdier flannels. Giving some stars for the wonderful quality of the older versions.
Im a huge fan of these shirts, add a coat or micro puff and youre good to go even in really cold Chicago winter days. My only complaint is that the fit could be a little less boxy and more athletic. For those of us who work out, Patagonias regular fit tends to be much too long for the width of the shoulders, so you end up with miles of extra fabric that hangs past your mid thigh to get the shoulder to fit. Ideally, there would be an athletic fit that more closely approximates the cap cool long and short sleeves. Oh and please please please add the little buttons that keep the shirt collars down. Nothing looks sloppier than curling shirt collars and Im really not looking to iron or steam my flannel shirt collars every time they come out if they wash.
I've had a few of these for several years. I'm ~5'10" athletic build and Medium fits me like a glove. They're softer than other flannels I've worn, which makes them incredibly comfortable. In fact, I wasn't big on wearing flannels before owning these, but now they've become my ubiquitous fall/winter dress - good for every cooler temperature. I have 4 and they've all held up to everyday (+hiking) use without a single issue. Judging by the sheer number of reviews, I wouldn't be surprised if this is one of Patagonia's most-selling items. It is well-deserved.I especially appreciated when Patagonia did a run of these shirts in solid colors a couple of years ago - I wear them to the office in the winter and manage to look professional and stay comfortable!
Okay, I wear flannel shirts for about six months each year and I’ve gone through a lot of major brands. I actually really like the REI brand ones, but the thickness of the material of these shirts as well as how overall soft they are really stood out to me, so I grabbed a couple of them.A bit of warning, I am a broad-shouldered dude that normally wears a large, but I had to get an XL because of how tight the backs of the shoulders were, so I would say they trend to run a little bit small. One thing that I admittedly didn’t notice or care about but thought it was neat enough to mention: Patagonia is apparently supporting people who are currently trying to go organic. Unfortunately you cannot just declare yourself organic, there is a 3 year period of no chemical ... MoreOkay, I wear flannel shirts for about six months each year and I’ve gone through a lot of major brands. Unfortunately you cannot just declare yourself organic, there is a 3 year period of no chemical pesticide use before you are declared “organic” by the USDA. Patagonia is sourcing their cotton from people who are within that 3 year period, supporting them with what is essentially organic cotton, which is REALLY helping out the small farmers that are trying to do so.
I have two other Patagonia flannels (lightweight). Love the colors of the mid-weights and wish they would make them available in lightweight. I bought two mid-weights because of the colors but when I received them, the arm holes in the pit area and bicep areas are smaller than my other Patagonia shirts. I had not washed or dried them even. Just tried them on. What a weird difference to have, especially when checking the size chart, ordering the same size as my other shirts and both the mid and light weight shirts are organic cotton. Returned them and was bummed. Good customer service though. Hassle-free returns.
