I’ve not had this bag long but it’s already a firm favourite and has been used daily since I received it. I’ve got two children under 3 and this bag is just brilliant for all of our stuff, but also great for work too. I was on the hunt for a bag that was suitable for our outings as well as work as I hate having to swap bags over (Inevitably always forget something!) It has plenty of room without being too bulky. There are three sections, all well sized. It’s also got a really generously sized laptop compartment that’s nicely padded too so no danger of laptop or tablet etc getting damaged. I also really appreciate the zipped mesh section that it has to keep pens or smaller items stashed safely as I find bags sometimes swallow items like this and it’s a pain to hunt ... MoreI’ve not had this bag long but it’s already a firm favourite and has been used daily since I received it. The bottle pockets at the sides of the bags are a brilliant size, they easily fitting my 750ml drink bottle in it. As they are stretchy, I’d imagine you’d be able to fit a larger bottle in too.I’ve found it really comfy to wear and I’m very fussy with bags! The straps are very slightly stiff to start with but soften up quickly and are then very comfortable. It has all the trademarks of Patagonia style and quality and I can see this being used daily for a long time. It’s a bonus that my husband also loved it and has been happy to use it when he has popped out with our kids without me on the odd occasion.Would definitely recommend without hesitation. Thanks for another brilliant buy, Babipur!

I added this pack to an extensive collection of Osprey, Deuter, and Patagonia bags from the 1990s and 2000s because I wanted a dedicated, appropriately-sized 'school bag' for one university class, three hours weekly.I love the pockets and organization of the Refugio 26, and I bought an 'off color' at a significant discount--I love the unpopular colorway. I bought 3L Blackhole stuff sack cubes to create a system, and my laptop fit into the provided, padded sleeve--among the best features of this handsome, well-balanced pack.In REI, I imagined a use for each space, and the pack functioned well foe three weeks. However, even though my laptop, notebook, binder, pens, and 16oz bottle fit well (no weighty textbook for my class), a shoulder strap audibly and visibly ... MoreI added this pack to an extensive collection of Osprey, Deuter, and Patagonia bags from the 1990s and 2000s because I wanted a dedicated, appropriately-sized 'school bag' for one university class, three hours weekly.I love the pockets and organization of the Refugio 26, and I bought an 'off color' at a significant discount--I love the unpopular colorway. My 20+ year old Patagonia bags (which I have reverted to) portray none of this essential weakness. They beg to be filled and carried.I returned the pack for credit.

Overall, this is a great small pack for hiking or an overnight trip. The main compartment holds a lot of clothing, shoes or other items, and the front vertical zip compartment is very convenient. The back compartment hold a laptop or tablet. Water bottle compartments on both side of the pack are very useful for a water bottle or other items. Now a couple of negatives. This pack does not have a trolley strap! It is really hard to believe that Patagonia would not place a strap on the back of the pack to secure it to a carry-on bag. This is a simple but necessary strap when travelling. The other negative is that there aren't any internal zippered pockets for items such as charges, keys, pens or other small items.I would recommend this backpack to friends and family, ... MoreOverall, this is a great small pack for hiking or an overnight trip. Purchased the Refugio 26L after an extensive search for backpacks that would meet airline "personal item" size requirements. Spirit Airlines restricts personal items to 18"x14"x8". The Patagonia Refugio 26L was one of the few backpacks I found that came closest to these dimensions without exceeding any.I've since taken two 4-day trips (not including flight days) using only the Refugio. My packing list? 5 wool t-shirts, 5 pairs of socks + underwear, convertible pants, pajama pants, swim trunks, 250 long sleeve wool top, ultralight down puffy, rain jacket, toiletries, E-reader, spare battery, charging station + cables, umbrella, 18oz. Yeti water bottle, sandals, and a few snack bars.Verdict? I love this bag! Once at your destination it makes a great day pack. I don't carry a laptop, but the padded sleeve kept my e-reader safe and its mesh pocket kept my headphones, cords, charger, etc. organized. Main compartment is roomy enough for almost a week of clothes, and outer compartment is great for easy access to a puffy/shell/sunglasses etc. Stretchy water bottle pockets on each side were usable without taking the pack off. The compression straps pulled double duty to secure my water bottle and umbrella.Items inside did get damp during a rainy day walking around Boston, but I didn't expect otherwise.Highly recommend for the ultralight traveler or fair weather commuter!
This is a great backpack for the price. Highly versatile and very durable. I bought this packpack for college/various events I attend and it satisfy 90% of my needs but could use a few quality of life improvements.Pros:-Packs a Ton and Easy to Access.I usually bring a book or two, my laptop and tablet, overear headphones, sleeping mask, lunch box, and some miscellaneous stuff like pencil pouches and chargers, most stuff can be comfortably fit inside the backpack with plenty of space left over for a jacket or two.-Front CompartmentGreat for stashing medium-sized items you need frequently, I use it for my sleeping mask and headphones and it's very convenient.-Solid BuildThe build quality is great and the water repellent feature comes in real handy in a place ... MoreThis is a great backpack for the price. This feature is quite common on other backpacks so it's a shame that it isn't incorporated into the design. Would be great if there's a separate pouch or two in the middle compartment for smaller things that you might need to access on a daily basis.-Only One Zipper For The Laptop CompartmentJust put two so it's easier to open and close, I honestly don't understand why Patagonia thought it was smart to put only one there.-Phone Compartment? This might just be a personal complain, but I like to stash my phone in my backpack when I want to focus. My old backpack has a small ziplock pocket in the back of the pack where I can conveniently leave my phone there and just forget about it, so it would be nice to have something like this.Summary:If you're a college student like me, this is a great product for you.
Two issues- Water bottle & Fabfric color:The fabric shows wear easily and the interior is dark making it hard to find things quickly. We have two 26L Refugio Daypackʻs from 2022. One in a burnt red, the other is blue- exactly like the one in the video demo. The waterbottle pockets on each of the backpacks slowly tore and now have holes at the bottom area of the pockets making the waterbottle pockets unusable. This happened after a good 6 months of almost daily use. My sonʻs now use the exterior zipper compartment to store their 16oz water bottle. Iʻve searched for a solution to repair them, but have not yet found it. Their previous Refugio backpacks from 2018-2019 are still in excellent condition as are the waterbottle pockets - the bottom of the waterbottle ... MoreTwo issues- Water bottle & Fabfric color:The fabric shows wear easily and the interior is dark making it hard to find things quickly. We have two 26L Refugio Daypackʻs from 2022. Hopecully I donʻt have the Refugioʻs mixed up, but I wouldnʻt buy what Iʻm seeing today - unless a solution to repair/update them has been made. Still a great bag overall for travel or school/work.
Wonderfully designed, so many sections and pockets - a day out with a seven year old with uncertain weather means carrying emergency cheese sandwiches, coats, and the rest. I still have plenty of room but the compression straps also mean the bag doesn't look too enormous on me at 5'4'. I intend to also use this as my work bag, removing the laptop sleeve or putting it in depending on the day, this was one of the central appeals. I hate switching everything between bags constantly. The only slight dissapointment is the colour of the interior on this, the patterned version. I had assumed, as the pictured laptop sleeve is the sort of petrol blue that accents the exterior of the bag, that this is what the inside of the bag would look like. Unfortunately it is actually a ... MoreWonderfully designed, so many sections and pockets - a day out with a seven year old with uncertain weather means carrying emergency cheese sandwiches, coats, and the rest. I had assumed, as the pictured laptop sleeve is the sort of petrol blue that accents the exterior of the bag, that this is what the inside of the bag would look like. Unfortunately it is actually a very light green, which is less practical as it will show every scuff, ink stain etc. Over the years. It doesn't matter overly, but in the spirit of constructive feedback...maybe photos of the laptop sleeve in the colourway that comes with the bag would be a good idea in future, along with photos of the interior of the bag. Babipur have a great buying team, never dissapointed at any level and I know I can come here for products that have been expertly selected.
I literally just got this in the mail. The very first thing I noticed is there is no small pockets. No pen holders, key holder, etc.The reason I got it is to replace my current messenger bag and give myself more room, but that is at a cost for organization apparently. My EDC is a work laptop, phone, notebook, reading book, key fob, pens, deodorant, knife, various OTC pills, and bandaids. Most of this will just be rattling around in the bottom. The laptop sleeve has a small pocket but you can't put anything in there that isn't flat with the laptop in there.I don't even understand where I am supposed to put most of this stuff. How can there not be a place for a pen in a bag that is supposed to be geared towards a commuter? Not a work bag at all. Patagonia made the perfect daypack, the old Refugio, and I will never understand why they ruined it. Apart from cheaper materials, they took away all the inside pockets/organization, and also the choice beteen "men's" and "women's" sizing. This really mattered. The "women's" version was much more comfortable for short-torsoed people of any gender. It's not just a matter of a smaller bag. It was about the contour of the straps and the way they were attached, which was genius. All gone. They could have even called it the short-torsoed person's size if they wanted to avoid retro gender ideas! After I saw the change I bought up three of the "women's" classics online, but that supply is probably depleted. I will never make the mistake of buying the new one again.
Purchased for the cycling commute to work (20 km e/w). Good size bag, firm fit and good capacity (laptop, clothes, lunch). The very front pocket is not ideal but ok. It has a vertical zipper which is unique. Probably just better off with two horizontal pockets (keys/phone etc) would be my suggestion. Side pockets are good but no zippers so not super secure. The side pockets are good for reaching around to pull keys out of or to put bike lights and other small items once you arrive to your destination. This is assuming you are not planning to remove your backpack immediately. Hand washes and cleans up well. Dries pretty quickly.
