I bought the Nouveau Green sweater jacket first in medium, and found it to be overall too small with my scrub top and a long sleeve base layer t shirt, so then I exchanged it for a large which was overall a little too big while wearing the same thing under it. I decided to keep the large because being a little too big is better than being a little too small. It's great quality and excellent color. I've been wanting this jacket for a long time and was very happy to get it on sale. I'm going to get a lot of wear out of it, but I do still find it strange that there's such a big size difference between the medium and large. In all other jackets I'm either a small or medium very reliably. I'm 5'7 and about 150, typically wear a size 6.

I’m 153cm tall, quite petite. I ordered a small and it fits just right. The length covers half my back side (keep in mind that it isn’t baggy looking) and the sleeves sit just past my wrists. It isn’t a hugging fit on me (since I didn’t want it to be), I can still wear a small hoodie underneath due to the material of the sweater being slightly stretchy- although, a large size would be more ideal if you want to wear fleece hoodies/jumpers underneath (speaking to my fellow petites out there). That’s what I’ll order next time just so I can layer more. Overall, the quality is really nice, not heavy weighted and it’s easy to move around. Not itchy either. I’d say if you’re unsure of sizing, go a size up just because I feel like it runs a little small, but then again ... MoreI’m 153cm tall, quite petite. I ordered a small and it fits just right. I would definitely want to get a larger size so I have an option if I want to wear a bigger jacket looking fit, while also having a choice of an average fit

I just got my third Better Sweater and bought it for the first time at an REI store. It was such a nice experience. I've never really reviewed my others anywhere else so this is my first review ever. I have an older one when they first came out and it still looks amazing. I have another one that is embroidered with my office's logo and it is so warm in that frigid environment! If it's summer it's freezing from the AC and this saves me. If's it's winter it keeps me super toasty because we have big windows. I wanted another option rather than the black and teal so I went with the birch white which is marled and will go with just about anything. The way it is a sweater on the outside and fleece on the inside makes it so peasant and comfortable to wear. It gets so soft. No shrinking either. it's a simple and warm jacket that can be layered under a nano-puff for even more warmth. Good experience at REI with the staff and the ease of checkout. Thanks!

I'm just as impressed with the sweater as I am my shopping experience with public land. Super fast shipping and timely updates. Seriously kudos to a seamless shopping exp.For sizing, so many reviews said it ran crazy small so I ordered a large to be safe. Feel like I could have been happy in a medium too. Not big enough I'll go thru an exchange process and it's a good size that I'll be able to layer under it if I want but a little bigger in my stomach and hips where it flares out a tiny bit, but still very flattering. I was just expecting it to be super tiney based on reviews. For reference bc it helps so much:5'9164 lbs36DDTypically a medium top and size 6 bottom.Large fits great, medium likely would have worked well too
After buying this online with an estimated delivery date of 2/10, I finally received this on 2/14. After paying full price, they sent me a clearly USED item. There was human hair still stuck to the collar, dog hair stuck to the sleeves and body, and a markdown tag stuck to the label, with a price $64 less than what I actually paid. There's what looks like dandruff on the collar, the inside lining is already pilled and the fabric is shrunk from washing (as evidenced by the wavy zipper), despite how dirty it is. Touching it to take it out of the package made me itchy, so who knows what is in this filthy fabric. I'm disgusted and annoyed, after how many thousands of dollars I've spent with this store. Now I have to go out of my way and waste my time sending this back. ... MoreAfter buying this online with an estimated delivery date of 2/10, I finally received this on 2/14. So far this jacket has been wonderful. The steam blue is a beautiful color. This jacket has been on my want list for a bit now and I finally ordered it for myself. Definitely a quality item. The zippers are metal which I appreciate! My last jacket from another big brand had plastic zippers and unfortunately they broke over time… The fit of this jacket is good. I’m 5’7 and have a larger chest. I ordered xxl which is my regular size and it fits true to size. Sleeve length is good. Plenty of room and has a nice semi fitted look. I will say it has pilled a little after a couple weeks of normal wear. Nothing concerning with pilling, but I’m sure I will need to use a sweater shaver/comb in the future. It is lightweight, but provides plenty of warmth. Recently it has been ... MoreSo far this jacket has been wonderful. The steam blue is a beautiful color. Only ok. The purple color is great. The manufacturing values are excellent and the reason I tried Patagonia. I usually wear a 16 or 18 so I chose the XL. The sleeves are ridiculously long, and tight. I am reasonably tall with a long torso (I'm 5'10") but I have to fold the sleeves back at least 3"! I have never owned a jacket proportioned like this. The torso part fits well. It is very warm, compared to the fleece I was trying to replace, which isn't necessarily a good thing for me since I was looking for an indoor/outdoor layer and this usually gets too hot indoors, even unzipped. On the plus side I can go outside in cooler temperatures without another layer now. The pockets are enormous; I would prefer smaller "hand warmer" pockets without the zipper. This is the strangest fitting fleece. I originally ordered a medium for a relaxed fit, when I received the item I thought I had maybe just received a defect/second. The shoulders and left arm was was extremely tight while the torso was baggy and loose like a cape. I exchanged it thinking I had just gotten a defected one. I received the new one which fit much better upon trying it on but was still weird in the shoulders. I cut the tags and wore the other day. This fleece is so uncomfortable and such a bizarre fit in general. The arms and shoulders are extremely tight, while the waist is loose and baggy. I wish I had gone with my instinct originally while the tags were still on, but I had purchased these fleeces before and loved them. A substantial sweater that to me didn’t look like it would feel as warm and cozy as it does even right against the skin. I am usually a small in Patagonia tops and jackets but definitely needed a medium through shoulders and hips. Hips in the medium gave me only a bit of room. I’m 34-28-37 body measure. I wasn’t looking for it to be an outer layer so the med was perfect. I would have had to go up a size otherwise. I had a chance to try on the Large but I was swimming in it! I Think there is a bit of room for a revisit to overall sizing considerations for Patagonia with this sweater moving forward. The sleev.es were too long but one foldup for me works well. I don’t mind the interior fleece look at the wrist. I don’t mind the interior fleece look at the wrist. I haven’t tested it outdoors yet in sport but with the cold weather beginning to approach now in November it’s already been a go to comfy/warm sweater here in central Canada indoors without the wood stove started up. I love the light gray(birch) colour but current blue won me over. I have ended up liking the sweater a lot more than anticipated because I found the right fit. I would definitely recommend trying it on in store if you can. Hopefully this review will be helpful if that’s not an option. Love the 1/4 zipper front and the zipper pocket in the upper sleeve. I don’t like to wear my phone but the upper sleeve pocket looks plenty big for that. It’s turned out to be an overall great choice for me!
I purchased this jacket in-store, so I was able to try on, before purchase. I am so glad I did because after reading many different reviews, with some saying true to size. I purchased the Large, for reference, I am a petite female early sixties, I am a 36c bust, 29 waist, and the medium, I felt was smashing at my chest, I would not have been able to wear a thicker blouse or sweater underneath. If you are able, try in-store. Other than that it is a great sweater, definitely warm for those chilly, breezy days, you many only need a jacket I'm always cold. Patagonia wins again! I'm considered petite, I like the fact sleeves are tapered I do not have to fold over just the right length. You won't be disappointed. Hope this helps.
