I recently found this yarn while shopping and was pleasantly surprised! I prefer natural fibers and love linen yarn. I have made two knitted lace projects and working on a third. It’s easy to work with and looks great! Hope they do not discontinue this yarn.

Really lovely yarn to work with. Fantastic for making doilies and other intricate designs. Very smooth and rarely catches on my crochet hook. Wish Michaels had more of the "night" shade in stock, but all the colors are lovely. I am currently making two different shawls out of this yarn; one in "citadel" and one in "night".

Because this yarn is mercerized cotton, it’s super soft and has a lovely shine to it. I think the color is fantastic as well. Not a critique, but just keep in mind that the yarn is a wee bit thin so when I tried to use it on my size 11 needles I had some issues. Go for a smaller needle size if you’re using this. The only thing I’d change is to offer a larger selection of mercerized cotton, perhaps with larger skein options so I don’t have to buy three at a time.

Great child's jumper knitted with this lovely yarn. Washes easily with out any negative effects. I have knitted a number of colourful cardigans and jumpers with different Paton's Fab DK colours yarn which have all turned out to have pleasing patterns and loved by my grand children.

I just completed a large afghan project with this yarn in the colorway Maize. I had a sweater qty in my stash and finally it sparked and the fire took hold to make a crochet tiles afghan. I wanted something that was highly portable for my lunch break project. I decided upon a crochet cable square with a K hook. The squares took me precisely 1 hour each to complete a 10” by 10” tile. I was a little afraid of the problems I was going to have based on posted reviews here and elsewhere indicating poor quality in the yarn…knot joins, weak breakage, fuzzy worn and frayed in this roving style yarn. But alas, I encountered very little of any of those defects. I used 14 skeins in total, I had singular knot joins in three of them, one spot of fuzzy frayed and only one spot on ... MoreI just completed a large afghan project with this yarn in the colorway Maize. I used 14 skeins in total, I had singular knot joins in three of them, one spot of fuzzy frayed and only one spot on the very start of one skein with weak spinning. The fiber worked up very stiff even with the one size larger hook over the recommended size. However, after completing my 20 squares I blocked and steamed them individually before joining, making certain not to touch the iron plate to the yarn as the acrylic content would not find it agreeable. The fiber really relaxed and took to blocking well. The wool and alpaca really bloomed nicely and the tiles became very soft and pliable. I used an Irish inter-lacing join and a rather elaborate border edging. After all is said and done, my blanket is a among the most beautiful I have completed. I found the yarn itself very pleasing. I would say without hesitation that I will work with this yarn again given the opportunity. I felt as though I was taking a risk on the color at time of purchase, but it is not a yellow as much as a cream with a yellow hued base. It really imparts a vintage / antique feel to my finished project. Overall, I would give it a 95 out of 100 score, with the 5 point deduction for the minor quality issues (noted above) that I encountered. I find this yarn to be next to skin soft for an adult or a baby although I would hate to clean a baby “mess” out of this fiber. I have returnable 5 skeins remaining but I will choose to use it versus return it. I may make matching pillow covers or endeavor to make the Yarnspirations pattern Slash Stripe Knit Shawl and Polka Dot Knit Hat…still undecided.
In my opinion, the most important criteria for an acrylic yarn is the texture. Some cheap acrylic yarns are very scratchy, and can have a plasticky feel. This one sure doesn’t! It has a soft, slightly silky feel to it that would be perfect for anything worn next to the skin. It feels a bit more luxurious than your typical acrylic yarn.
This yarn is wonderful. I am tunisian crocheting an afghan of the Black Watch plaid. The colors I bought of Patons yarn are a perfect match for this interesting pattern as they are subtle and blend nicely. I used black, ivy green, royal blue and dark green tea. Absolutely perfect for the pattern. The ease with which Patons yarn slides through the hook is very very good. It does not split as some yarns are prone. The yarn is smooth and my fingers do not get sore as does a course yarn. Love it. Am about to have my third great grandchild, who lives in Sweden so I don't get to see them all very much but it brings me great happiness to now purchase more of this amazing yarn made by Pattons in baby blue for this little boy. Thank you so much for supplying such a great ... MoreThis yarn is wonderful. I am tunisian crocheting an afghan of the Black Watch plaid.
