Have bought many of these and different sizes. Only had a problem with one and that was probably because of inadequate packaging when ordered along with an HDD. Exceptionally could upgrade for any machine with an HDD.

I installed my Patriot Burst Elite 2.5" 120 GB solid state drive as a second hard drive in an old (circa 2010) desktop PC. Honestly, I was surprised drives with such low capacities are still being sold new, and was skeptical. But it came sealed in new "blister packaging", and its SMART stats confirmed 0 power-on hours. With only 120 GB, it's all I needed for an Ubuntu (Linux distro) installation and no need to spend more to over-enhance such an old, but seldom used, PC. From previously installing an SSD on another PC, I knew I needed to "over-provision". That meant Not formatting the drive to its full 120 GB. For securing my new drive to the bottom of my PC case, I used a little "Quake Hold! Museum Putty", forming 4 little "feet" out of the stuff. It should be secure enough for this stationary (non-mobile) setup, and maybe it gets a little cushion-effect from the feet as well. There's no electrical grounding from the putty, but I'm hoping it gets whatever grounding it needs from its power and data connectors. I can't really say if this new drive is especially fast or slow (on this old PC). It's fast enough. What I wanted when I selected it was Reliability and economy. The other reviews plus my several years' experience with Patriot flash drives indicated that (reliability) was a reasonable expectation. So I bought it. Time will tell. I would recommend the Patriot Burst Elite 2.5" 120 GB for people with similar needs and objectives.

Good For Updating Older Computers.
22 February 2022

Bought a couple of these for use in refurbishing and upgrading old PCs and laptops. Replacing an old, slow spinning hard drive with an SSD like this Patriot Burst will make your computer boot up much faster, and opening programs, accessing documents, photos, videos, etc. will also be noticeably quicker. Many people just want an inexpensive upgrade and this is exactly what a low price SSD from a brand name maker can accomplish.

Great value for the cost.
18 December 2022

Having only used this unit for several trouble-free weeks, I am very pleased. While statistics show there are faster SSDs, real world use decidedly can not discern the meager difference. Longer warranties rarely beyond 3 years would make a difference. Price was a factor here as well. I have been installing SSDs for 2 years and only 1 failed right out of the box. Disappointed, yes, but hardly a trend.

I would buy again. Note the part number (PBE240GS25SSDR) -- this is a fast drive - there is more than one Patriot drive that looks the same but is more expensive.

Recommended to gamers who need that extra space
21 March 2022

Overall I'm happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend this to gamers who are looking for that extra space to play those heavy games with a lot of DLC, MODs and large game patches like ARK: Survival Evolved. Or even to content creators. It's not as fast as an NVME but it'll get the job done.

Works great!

This breathed new life into my 2015 iMac. Im a graphic designer who builds websites using the Adobe Creative Suite. I typically have multiple Adobe programs open (Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver) and it used to be pretty sluggish but now its great! In Dreamweaver Id typically have A LOT of files open for any given webpage and they used to take a while to load with the factory fusion drive but now its instant.

no more slow start ups

Very small space at 128GB but all I was after was to migrate a spare machine to ssd for quick start ups. This is a great value as long as you're not chasing top notch performance
