If I was feeling a little dry I would pat on a thin layer of a facial oil to over the moisturizer. My skin didn't get irritated and I didn't start flaking. Success! After almost 2 weeks my skin felt firmer for sure. I'll have to use it a bit longer to see any wrinkle diminishing action but from what I've seen so far, this is the closest to the prescription stuff (sans irritation) that I've tried and the price is fantastic. I recommend it!

This product is absolutely incredible. Paula's Choice kills it with their products. My favorite part of Paula's Choice is the amount of antioxidants they pack into their formulations, and this product is no exception. Antioxidants in this product include bakuchiol, burdock root, THD ascorbate (vitamin C derivative), vitamin E, plant source of resveratrol, oat kernel extract, and hesperidia methyl chalcone (UV-protective ingredient). I also love that this product contains a strong percentage of bakuchiol- I don't think bakuchiol is a retinol replacement but I think it's a fantastic antioxidant and supplement to retinol for collagen support (it's also an antioxidant). This product is packed with antioxidants and soothing ingredients like licorice root, willow bark, ... MoreThis product is absolutely incredible. I will say this product does sting sometimes if your skin is sensitive. Also, they recommend applying 1-2 pumps and that is such a tiny amount that it makes this product difficult to spread since it's quite thick. It's like a thick lotion consistency. So sometimes I add a tiny spritz of thermal spring water to make it a little more fluid.

I felt like the one I was using wasn't making a noticeable difference and it was time to step it up, especially as I age. I was wary about sensitivity as I do have skin that is prone to being sensitive/irritated, but I followed the instructions with using it every 2-3 days at first and after noticing no irritation, I went for using it every day. I've used it for a few months now and I can say that this is making a visible difference in my skin with softening my '11' lines and just making my skin look overall brighter and smoother. Breaks me out. Frustrating.
14 August 2022

I have been careful while using it - apply it once every 3 days. Still it breaks me out. I have dry skin therefore I use the sandwich method while applying retinol. First a layer of body shop Vit E moisturizer, then this retinol, then a layer of laneige time freeze sleeping mask. Despite the precautions, it manages to break me out after 2 days of applying it.It has been 3 months with this routine. And I have a lot more pimples on my face than when I first started. I ma not that prone to breaking out. Except facial oils, nothing normally causes pimples. But with this one I have been having pimples every week.Giving it 2 stars because the rest of my face looks brighter after using it. But there's also numerous pimple scars.

Dries out skin, gives slow results
26 January 2023

Retinol is very important part of my skincare. I have tried many different retinol products and only few are really working fast without any irritation. This retinol has got lovely texture, lathering, creamy, don’t need to use a lot of product and the whole package will last long. It also leaves skin feeling hydrated and glowing after immediate application. Unfortunately this product causes very bad skin dryness which takes long time to heal, too many dry patches and skin tightness. Even tho using spf and also hydrating. After when skin gets better, skin looks ok, smooth and it helps with breakouts and fine lines, but I don’t like that it dries out skin a lot, that it takes too long to recover. Effective with little to no irritation
27 November 2022

This is much gentler than the 1% Retinol from Paula’s Choice. I like this one for winter and the 1% for summer when I don’t get as dry. This is still effective but with less irritation so it’s a great choice for those with sensitive skin that still want to use a retinol product. I would still do a patch test if you do have skin that gets irritated easily as it’s still potent. Also noticed this works well sandwiched in between moisturizers to help irritation. I think it’s a great product and I like the texture of it as well. It softens my skin and fine lines on my forehead and around my mouth. I can tell my mouth wrinkle isn’t as deep.

Great product and worth a try
20 January 2023

This was my intro in the retinol/retinoid space and I was really happy with it. Just finished the whole bottle after about 6-7 months of on and off use. I started using a more expensive retinol oil from DE and found myself coming back to this. It noticeably cleared my acne, evened and brightened my skin tone and helped with fine lines. The only reason I'm not re-purchasing it bc I'm switching to a prescription strength retinoid to help with acne more. I might re-purchase just to have it on hand as needed. Great for spot treatment as well. I did have some irritation and breakouts in the beginning, so I'd keep that in mind. And I tried to avoid placing it around my eyes and the t zone just under my eyes bc I felt my skin just didn't like it or was too sensitive there. ... MoreThis was my intro in the retinol/retinoid space and I was really happy with it. Great results!
29 November 2022

After using this for about two weeks I can see that my skin looks healthier overall, smoother & definitely a brighter more even skintone. I started using this every 3rd night to be cautious. I am now using every other night. I haven't experienced any redness, peeling or irritation! This has a lovely, creamy texture that applies easily & absorbs without any sticky feel left over. I follow with hydrating serum & moisturizer. So far an amazing addition! I love the triple ingredient effect with retinol, bakuchiol & peptides. Another great product from Paula's Choice!

It’s sufficient
18 November 2022

I’m now pretty accustomed to retinol, so I have been on the hunt for a little more stronger of a percentage in my routine. Reason being, I haven’t seen too much of a difference with the one I was using. This one I’ve used for a week and my opinion is still on the fence. I do however love the way this feels and that it doesn’t sting. I have a sensitive area around my chin but this doesn’t flare it up. It has barely any scent which I prefer. Packaging is important to me and I love the pump. So far I guess it’s good for the peptides but the anti aging I can’t tell tbh. I attached s pic hope that speaks for itself!
