The strap does not attach using the quick release clips on one side.Simply does not work well with the Sony A7iv. Does not fit into the eyelet at all unless you remove the plastic black clip on it.Even with it removed you have to twist the strap and it barely gets in and does not move freely inside.Peak design support was incredibly unhelpful telling me they were sure it worked. But making it work essentially involves risking damaging the camera D-ringCould be a great product if they included a larger ring that could be attached to the Sony A7iv (or other Sony Alpha) D-Rings with the strap attaching to that.Would have returned it if I hadn't been out of town on a trip during the return window.

I have only barely been able to use this product so far, having only just installed it on my Canon Rebel T5i. However, I was impressed by the ease of installation and the quality feel of the materials used. I appreciate that the only piece that could be a point of failure included an extra in the box. The only complaint I have so far is that I wish the portion of the strap making contact with my hand had a bit more grip for a more secure feeling. I will update this review in the future once I have been able to use the product more, but so far I have no complaints.

I purchased this bc my husband preferred to hold the camera instead of it hanging off his neck. So I bought 2 (one for myself since I'm a neck hanger and I thought I'd try the handheld).Another commenter stated that it worked great w their L-bracket so I thought, "Great!". Well, unfortunately, it doesn't work with the ProMediaGear L-bracket. The anchor links have no place to loop through, if you don't use the provided PeakDesign base plate.FYI: The RRS base plates have a place to connect to, if you have a Canon R5/R6 base plate. So, I'm a little bummed about this.

I bought this strap to replace an identical one I lost recently while on a trip. My favorite feature is the ability to adjust the strap anytime - whether off or on hand. While the Peak Design arca-style mount is solid, I prefer a QD attachment that is part of my overall gear. So, I replaced the Peak Design arca plate with a Really Right Stuff QD strap loop. This way, I can connect/disconnect a BlackRapid shoulder strap (with QD), Peak Design strap (with QD) to the Kirk Enterprises QD L Bracket mounted on a mirrorless camera.
After a few years of using my Peak Design CL-2 Hand strap, I got tired of swapping it from body to body and ordered a second one. (This one is a CL-3 because the CL-2 is no longer available.) The photos LOOKED the same, but this newer version strap is just not as good as my old one.The padding material is not as plush. It is not as thick as the older model, has very little cushioning and is very stiff to the point that it doesn't want to form around the hand. The strap that feeds through the camera-strap eyelet on the camera body is just a wee bit wider but enough so that it is a real struggle to get it to go through 2 of my Sony bodies (full-frame mirrorless) and will not go through on my a6600 at all - at least for me.The material of that strap at the top of ... MoreAfter a few years of using my Peak Design CL-2 Hand strap, I got tired of swapping it from body to body and ordered a second one. It's okay. If you have larger hands, not so great. Still useful but doesn't give much leeway. The metal buckle rides high near the mounting point to were I fear it will scratch and Nick the camera due to my larger hands on an r7. I prefer the bottom mounting solution to me closer to the edge instead of off center of camera. Plus is the bracket works with their entire line of products. Using this also negates the use of that specific camera eyelet for camera strap. There's workarounds but not elegant.
I had used a SpiderPro hand strap (1st generation) for years and loved it, but it was a hassle to attach/detach from the camera, so when it finally started to wear out I decided to try this Peak Design hand-strap. I also have a PD Slide Strap, which is a brilliant, flawless design so I had high hopes for their hand strap. It is very easy to attach to the camera, and to remove if you want to get it out of the way. Unfortunately, when installed on my Nikon D750, there is way too much play in the bottom part of the strap, which connects to the camera's tripod mount. As a result, if I were to let go of the camera, this strap would do nothing to keep it from crashing to the ground. Even tightened all the way down to the point where I can't move my hand to reach the ... MoreI had used a SpiderPro hand strap (1st generation) for years and loved it, but it was a hassle to attach/detach from the camera, so when it finally started to wear out I decided to try this Peak Design hand-strap. Even tightened all the way down to the point where I can't move my hand to reach the camera buttons it still doesn't feel secure. If Peak Design had included an additional strap to go around the wrist (like SpiderPro has) it would have served its purpose, but as it is this product is just a very well made but useless piece of material dangling off my camera. Fortunately Midwest Photo Exchange makes returns easy!
I've used my PD Clutch on multiple cameras: Canon 50D, 5D MK III, Canon G3X and Sigma dp0 Quattro (it's too big for these cameras), and now my Canon R5. Except for the Sigma and G3X, it's provided the most stable, easily adjustable hand strap I've used in over 50 years of carrying a camera. It can be a little fussy to make sure the PD attachment cord on the ARCA-style base plate doesn't get in the way of a camera on a tri- or monopod head (I use an RSS plate on a monopod and Ballhead on my tripods, both ARCA-Swiss style), but once set it can be forgotten.I also use the PD Capture system on both day and backpacks, and while the Clutch can drape over the release button to remove the camera, it's just not an issue since the function (safe holding of an expensive ... MoreI've used my PD Clutch on multiple cameras: Canon 50D, 5D MK III, Canon G3X and Sigma dp0 Quattro (it's too big for these cameras), and now my Canon R5. But, trip the release to open up the hold, and the problem mostly goes away. Not completely, but enough that the reason for using it remains intact (and that's to safely carry a camera for even long periods of time, with it both being comfortable and safe). You can see I like this item. The only complaint I have about any PD products is they're made overseas. If it cost $10-20 more to make it here, I'd still buy it, glad to support local jobs. Until then, I'm just glad something of this design and quality is available.
I had picked up the Peak Design Capture Clip to have a way of carrying my Canon EOS RP while ditching the neck strap. However, I found that sometimes when carrying the camera ready to shoot, or shooting in precarious positions, I missed the extra security and hand strain relief of the neck strap; so I decided to pick this up to give me a bit more security and the ability to reduce how much gripping effort I'd need.I found the strap quite easy to install, it came with everything necessary including a few spare anchor connectors. It's quite well designed, it's comfortable, and it tightens and loosens easily. The biggest problem is that it needs to be quite loose for me to access all of my controls; if I'm able to reach all of my controls, it's too loose to provide ... MoreI had picked up the Peak Design Capture Clip to have a way of carrying my Canon EOS RP while ditching the neck strap. It will provide some extra security, but I'm not sure about relying on it. If it's tight enough to provide extra support and feel secure, I have a tough time reaching all of my controls.I don't know if this only applies to a small camera like the RP, or it would apply to larger cameras as well. For now, I'm trying to get used to just tightening and loosening it as needed, but if that doesn't work out I may look into other options like a wrist strap.
Another reviewer said this doesn't work on the Sony A7IV, and that's true if you're unwilling to swap the D-ring, but they include a slightly larger ring with the clutch so I don't see why you wouldn't swap it. It works just fine with my A7IV, though it is obviously designed for older DSLR bodies. I have to loosen it a decent bit while taking pictures, but it's not a big deal, and it's more a limitation of small mirrorless cameras than a PD issue.I also have the capture clip, and this is the perfect addition to my set up. I do nature photography, and the clip was such a revelation, but I sometimes wanted to keep hiking a bit without putting the camera back into the clip. I always worried I'd stumble on a root or rock and drop my camera, or that my hands would get ... MoreAnother reviewer said this doesn't work on the Sony A7IV, and that's true if you're unwilling to swap the D-ring, but they include a slightly larger ring with the clutch so I don't see why you wouldn't swap it. I'm super happy these two products integrate so well, and I can't recommend it enough.
