Obviously if you have rolling luggage you can use the hidden luggage strap but when I didn’t have that larger luggage to rest it on, by the end of the day my shoulders were feeling it. YMMV depending on your gender, what you’re packing in it, and whether you’re a backpacker, or if you’ve been skipping arm day (oops). I didn’t use the cross chest straps because it wasn’t practical for my travel as well and that might’ve helped with weight distribution. That’s the only negative.But, I will say this- it’s VERY well made, and has metal claps, very strong magnets, and sturdy fabric and stitching that will absolutely be long lasting. All of which is why it’s a little heavier than one with more plastic clasps would be. It is expensive but after my week of travel with it I think it’ll last longer than most and show wear slowly. The one area that may wear out faster are the Velcro based dividers, but I imagine the company would sell replacements if they are smart.The weight may lead me to ultimately return it for something smaller or lighter, and I did find myself wishing for little nubs to help it stand upright and a little off the floor but with this product Peak Design has officially sold me on anything they make. Count me a believer. They live up to their name.

I already own a Nomatic 40L travel backpack that I do really like, so I decided to check this out for my camera gear. A slightly inconvenient way to solve this is to access the side flaps with the pack placed flat on the opposite side. But if you are using the side flaps while the bag is shouldered, then this isn't really a problem.I also recommend you decide which way you would un-shoulder the bag before you setup the organizing flaps. The included ones are adequate but at this price point, I think a couple additional options should be offered: something like single slot cubbies or small holsters that you can velcro in. Still, the organizers offer a lot of modular flexibility.I think they could have included another stretch pocket with magnetic clasp on the inside of the top flap, but that might also have interfered with the expansion capability. Yet, for so much other flexible and modular features, it seem odd this space is unused.Beyond that, the photos should speak for themselves. I have a gimbal, PD tech pouch filled with goodies, two cameras, an extra lens for the DSLR, batteries, chargers, et cetera, et cetera. There are still some empty pockets available for workflow and auxiliary items.Really, the biggest downside is that it is such a stylish bag, that it will really draw attention. Be vigilant and aware of your surroundings.

It's more comfortable than some reviewers make it out to be. It's not really designed to carry a heavy load. You get side access to half the height of the bag from two sides and top access. The whole back opens up and you can carry way more stuff more securely. You basically get side access to the amount of stuff the Everyday backpack can carry period. But it's really a backpack for carrying camera/drone gear, a laptop and nothing else. If you routinely want to carry say a notebook and a sandwich, the Lowepro doesn't really work that well.Again, great option if you want an everyday carry and in your everyday carry you routinely carry a laptop, tablet and say a tech pouch, a book and some camera gear. This is particularly so if you frequently spontaneously want access to your camera. If this is not you, there are better options.FYI, the charcoal can be better than the black cosmetically over the long run because it does better with dirt and the mag latch is chrome and so does not show scratches like the black mag latch on the black.

(Magnets are used in several places to keep pouches closed yet allow for rapid access.)Also on the exterior, there is a magnetic compartment at the bottom that holds straps for stowing gear on the exterior.The magnetic latch for the main compartment is just really neat. You can cinch down the flap using a machined aluminum magnetic latch to attach to several bars on the main compartment. Once attached it's very secure yet very quick to open. Perhaps not the best method to close a bag, but certainly one of the coolest.There are two side zippers on each side that enable access to the entire half of the pack. This is perhaps the best part. Getting cameras and gear out the side is fantastic. I just loosen the shoulder strap and swing it around in front of me and all my camera gear is right there. Once open the side flaps have both zipper and magnetic pouches for batteries, memory cards and things. Inside Peak Design created these Flexfold dividers. These dividers flip Velcro into place and then can flip up to create separate spaces or flip down to merge into larger spaces. I have the 30 liter and it easily holds the Peak Design travel tripod internally so as to not advertise that I'm carrying camera gear.As a normal pack, its padding makes it a bit heavy. The expandable top pouch is really cool and does make it very easy to access coats, clothes etc. I've found the Flexfold dividers work well for wine as well as they cameras. The laptop compartment is excellent and is adjustable for different sizes keeping smaller laptops up higher for easier access, with plenty of smaller magnetic and zippered pockets for cables and chargers.All in all this a great pack.

The chest strap is clunky to use and the pivoting shoulders is gimmicky my opinion.The bag has 3 primary ways to access it. The mag latch is great. The side access is a blessing and curse. One has to be purposeful and methodical on how they arrange their stuff in the bag. It takes some getting use to accessing the bag from the slides and it's easy to drop things if you are not careful.As titled, I feel this bag is just OK. Maybe I'm not the target user but I wouldn't necessarily recommend this bag to everyone. In my opinion the perfect buyer of this bag must plan what they look to carry and know how to best configure it for their use. For my use I gave this bag 3 out of 5 stars (since I can't give it a 2.5 star rating).

The shoulder straps are quite comfy, although the included sternum strap is a bit finicky to latch. Multiple anchor points would allow for a shoulder strap to convert this to a duffle-style bag at your leisure.In short, the Everyday Backpack is versatile, enduring, comfortable, fastidiously designed, and wants you to be your best self as you navigate whatever challenges life might throw your way. I've spent most of my adult life living on a student's budget and lugging around cheap bags with my camera gear rolling around at the bottom. With a big girl job and some opportunities to travel, it was time for an upgrade. I appreciate that this bag is expensive, but you absolutely get what you pay for with this one. The bag feels substantial, and the zippers and closures feel premium and sturdy. I can fit a large camera body, a 100-400mm lens, a 100mm macro, and 3 prime lenses in the bottom 2/3 of the bag, leaving the top 1/3 for all of the rest of the things I might need (book, snacks, wallet, headphones, etc.). I have to think that positive reviews of this bag are due to bias, or people that just aren't actually using it for heavy camera gear. The problem with this bag, that makes it just a terrible bag for camera gear, is the quality of dividers.The issues are 2 fold, they can't hold items at the edges from falling to the level below, and the origami folds don't have enough holding power to keep contents from traveling side to side.The result is that the bag simply won't protect serious (heavy) camera gear. If you place a moderately heavy lens on a side section, especially if you have the divider's fold up to keep it from banging whatever is in the center (which you probably want to do), that lens is very likely to fall to the level below it.That problem is ... If you have, for example, a wide angle in the side, fold the divider up, with a camera and a 70-200 in the remainder of that level, the camera lens combo will push that fold down, and this will in turn push that wide angle so that it falls to the level below.This means you're going to have lenses banging in to other things if you actually try to load this bag up. For a smaller bag, I think that the dividers would be fine, as you'd be using smaller and lighter gear. But the price and the size of the bag indicate that it should hold larger camera gear, but the light duty dividers simply make it so that it can't.But hey, it looks nice.
