I recently purchased the aluminum travel tripod, and I made the mistake of grabbing the tripod by the mount to move the tripod and the bottom cracked and is now unusable. Now I have to shell out another $20 bucks!The mount itself is good enough to hold your phone in landscape to take photos or a quick video, but don't rely on it to take any portrait photos or video as the grip is not tight enough and your phone slides. I tried this with both a Samsung Galaxy S10 and an iPhone 11 Pro with cases on and off and it still slid.That being said, it comes in clutch and the fact that it lives inside the tripod only adds to the uses you can get out of the travel tripod.

You’re buying this because you want it specifically for your PD tripod, and in a pinch a compatible alternative tripod head. To the reviews asking for more: it’s smaller than a bic lighter, what more durability were you expecting. Will this last forever? No, absolutely not. Will I be using this for daily vlogging? Again, no. (If it were my daily vlogging phone rig, you bet it wouldn’t last.This is one of those “wow, I want a quick tripod pic or selfie to post on social media” gadgets that you have with you anywhere you take your pd tripod. I can see this lasting for quite a while the way I see it being used.

This phone mount is probably my favorite feature of this tripod. However take note that it can very easily break. It's made out of very light weight plastic and there's a lot of stress on it. My mount broken within one week of owning the tripod. The good thing is PD has a great customer service that backs their products and within 1 hour of filling their easy warranty form on their website they placed an order for a replacement part. I'm leaving this review not for other buys to see as much as I want the PD design team to. This plastic should be replaced for aluminum.
