This little pad makes the capture clip far more comfortable and convenient for hip mounting. It orients the camera so you slide it down rather than sideways which is very nice and makes the camera feel more stable and secure. It also spreads the weight on your hip over a much larger area, making it kind of a must if you have larger lenses (I have an A7R III with a Sigma 2.8 24-70 that weighs quite a bit as a combo). If you get the capture clip this is absolutely worth the extra money to grab this alongside it.

I had a very close call on my first day with this system -- I expect that its manageable, but needs attention. As I was walking my my camera in hand, I noticed that the thumb screws had loosened up quite a bit; so I tightened them up and started to put my camera back in the holder. As it turns out, the reason that the screws had loosened so much is because the tongue of the pad had come out of the clip. When I went to place my camera back in the bracket, the the pad slipped out of my belt. Luckily, I still had a good hold on my camera so it didnt drop. I suspect that holding on to the camera until it feels secure in the pad is natural, but it still left me a bit concerned about the security of this system -- adding a hump at the end of the tongue seems like it would go a long way to avoiding this issue.

I've owned a lot of Peak Gear over the years, and this one is a silent life-saver. I didn't even know about it until last week, but now mine's arrived and I've used it, it is such a good product.The problem I've had in the past is with a heavy kit the Peak Capture Clip has dug into my leg, and when used for long periods of time your leg gets very sore. The other problem is I split a really expensive belt due to the weight and use. This product has fixed both those issues! I'm now considering buying one for my lens kit.

Sure, it will hold for five to ten minutes. But, it won't take long to become annoying with its slippage. (By the way, the Capture device is not a problem free camera retention system. My camera dropped off it three times this last weekend. The first two times I was in a carpeted room. The third, I was able to catch it in my hands before it made contact with the floor. Now, I mount the camera warily, and it seems to hold. I own several peak design products, and I always have to ask myself, if I NEED additional accessories. Product works well with the capture clip. I use the propad on my bike-messenger bag, and infrequently on my belt. No issues here.
I actually borrowed my brother's PROpad to try out on a day hike to see if I like it. I love it! I normally use my capture clip on my backpack strap, which works great on long hikes when my pack is heavily loaded. On short hikes when I don't need to bring a lot of gear, attaching my camera to the backpack strap causes shoulder strain because there's no gear in the pack to shift the weight onto my hips. So, having my camera on my belt works much better when my pack is not loaded. Caveat is you need a good sturdy belt. I have an old 1.75 wide leather belt that I use with my hiking pants. Works great!
I use the Clip for Capture v3 with this because I need to carry a 2nd camera with a long lens facing down (instead of pointing out like a 2 camera harness would do) and the weight requires this pad. I wish it distributed the weight a bit more, but it's still a LOT better than going without.
Nice and snug with a capture clip on your belt. Satisfying click let's you know it's secure and the capture clips can be locked. No need to worry about a dangling neck strap if you don't need to. Be mindful where you are so you don't smack the holstered camera thought.
Works fine for a small camera. I would not recommend for a full frame or DSLR camera with a heavy lens. Also, during my shoot, the Capture Camera Clip would not disengage which infuriated me. I had to remove the clip from my belt and with a bit of work remove the clip to free up the camera. I still do not know why the Camera Clip failed but I don't think it reflects well on Peak Design.
