I've used this backpack for the last two years to carry my photography gear. I've never had problems with its size at airports for hand luggage, and I travel frequently within Europe by plane, and have used it for photography jobs going to Brasil, South Africa and New Zealand.The modular system is what makes this backpack so great - using the packing cubes makes a variety of combinations possible for different usages. Peak Design has done it again with product innovation in this great pack. It's beautifully constructed and a lot of the features, such as the magnetic flap and the pivoting hip belt to stow both away, are fantastic.That being said, they have innovated some things that simply did not need innovating, and some features found on other travel packs are missing.My biggest complaint are the webbing adjusters on the hip belt and shoulder straps. They're made of metal and the friction is so high that you can't simply tug on the lose end to tighten the strap, or pull on the other side to loosen them. It would have been easy to add a small pocket with one in it on the bottom of the pack.There are also some hidden pockets--one along the seams of the, back panel, one in each of the side waterbottle pockets--that seem pointless. Not really an issue, just kind of unnecessary which adds to the cost of the pack which could have been better spent on the rain cover mentioned above.Oh, and the sage colored pack is definitely sage. It looks to be a much lighter green--almost a light grey with a hint of green--in almost all of the photos I've seen of it.None of these are deal breakers. It's still a fantastic pack that I highly recommend, and that I'm looking forward to using in on my next trip. They do, however, keep this from being 5-stars.
Excellent travel backpack. Expanding design allows me to fit as much or as little as i need. Looks deceptively small in comparison to what can actually fit. Well thought out design, looks great, very solid build. Using for 2-3 day trips and just the right size. Much prefer a backpack to rolling luggage, can zip through the crowds when needed, don't have to worry about what's on the ground. Maybe a little heavier than I expected, but probably a function of the solid construction. Also have the Peak Designs Everyday Backpack and it has stood up well to two years of very regular/heavy use, expect this pack will be the same. Recommend looking into packing cubes to go with it.
Launched in 2018, even after 5 years, this is still the most feature rich travel backpack out there. It's a 35L (default config) that compresses down to a 30L and expands to 45L. Made of rugged high quality materials with a lot of attention on design details.The only con is the weight of the bag. All those features in the bag come at a cost - It's a 4.5lb bag, about a pound heavier than a Farpoint 40, the O.G. of travel backpacks. The backpack straps are relatively comfortable, it's not that well padded so it's not for overpacking and going on hikes with. Although it's possible to get some backpack strap pads to make it more comfortable.It works great for it's intended purpose, travel!

There is also a pocket on the front of the bag that opens down that the straps you can use to hook stuff to the outside of the bag hang in, accept its a full length pocket, just upside down. I wish it opened from the top instead so you could use at as a quick grab kind of pocket. The chest strap can kind of pull the shoulder straps in weirdly making them less comfortable, but I found with enough adjustment you can mostly get around that.Overall, this is a fantastic backpack. I will be happy with it for a long time, possibly ever given its lifetime warranty. I completely understand why it’s one of the highest rated bags on PackHacker. It is for sure not perfect, but it is fantastic compared to everything else I tried. I got it around 25% off and at that price it is fantastic. Maybe a slightly harder sell at full price, but at the same time I don’t know any other bag I could recommend over it. I really liked the osprey nebula 32, it was just way to small for my needs.

It feels like having a rigid box strapped to your back. This alone would be enough reason to avoid the product.The magnet closures for the pocket that can hide the shoulder & waist straps do not hold well, in part because that pocket is somewhat too small for all of the straps, no matter how carefully you arrange them.Without an awful lot of practice and training as a contortionist, you aren't going to be rotating this to the front of your body to get quick access to your gear as shown in the Peak Design videos.I said above that there's almost nothing that I like about this product. The one exception is the quite nice Sage color.Overall, this pack is very finicky and difficult to use, not a good thing when you're trying to get it together in a hurry or in bad weather conditions.This product is the epitome of style over substance, and has replaced the wretched Cotton Carrier CCS G3 as my most-regretted photo gear purchase of the past year--I'm going to be looking for a competitor to gift it to. If you look at PD's Facebook page, you will see that there are lots of people volunteering to give the company design advice. There's a reason for that. It's too bad, because some of the company's other products (particularly the Travel Tripod) are really great and I would highly recommend them.

Only things I would change are: 1. I'm a big guy and I find the shoulder straps a little difficult to adjust. 2. The chest strap comes completely off. I bought this backpack as a larger companion to my 20L Everyday Backpack. I haven’t used it for travel but do use it regularly when carrying large telephoto lenses for nature or packing multiple flashes and equipment for portrait shoots. It is a very well built bag and I expect it to hold up as good as the rest of my Peak Design bags. It is a large bag which I sometimes need but not always. If you need to carry some gear and also travel supplies or a lot of gear this is the bag for you. Also consider for use packing camera gear you will need to buy a camera cube. It is a little large for a daily bag even in its smallest configuration unless you carry a lot of gear all the time.
