To be honest I tend to buy hand wash based on offers that are on at the store I’m shopping in. However the Pears handwash came as a bit of a surprise. It’s very luxurious and it’s smells like a trip to a quality spa. It’s a lemon based hand wash but a proper aromatherapy type smell not a false washing up liquid type smell. As a handwash goes it is as effective as most hand-washes but if I’ve been in the kitchen, I can almost guarantee the Pears handwash will eradicate the smell of onions or garlic from my hands. One big plus for me is the beautifully shaped bottle, not only does it sit nicely in the small space at the back of my taps I also can sit it in my open plan kitchen with pride. First impressions:Pears are a longstanding British brand, synonymous for their golden-hued products and vintage style soaps. Upon using the product, a gentle perfume is imparted on the hands, which you can smell for some time afterwards, should you raise a hand near your face.Design:A lively green housed in Pears' classic hand soap container, with the classic logo so synonymous with them, is like a new beginning for the brand. Having done only their original soap for so long, it is great to have the range reinvigorated with a splash of colour. I feel the shade of the soap is neutral, though fun, and would fit easily in any household bathroom or kitchen. The vintage feel of the brand gives a chic feel to the dispenser, which in turn makes the soap look more "luxe".Use:One pump gives the perfume amount of medium viscosity soap into the palm of the hand. The soap lathers up easily and a rich foam is formed. As you inhale, you can smell the sparkling lemon flower, almost reminiscent of a spa. The soap washes off easily, does not leave a residue and most importantly, leaves hands clean without drying them out.

Disappointing!

This handwash was a huge disappointment for a number of reasons.Firstly, the bottle claims the product was "Pure & Gentle" and "dermatologically tested" however, this wasn't the case for me as it made my hands feel incredibly dry and sore which is bizarre for a "100% soap free" product.I found the handwash took a while to lather, and while it did indeed clean my hands, I felt like there was a strange residue on my skin even after thorough rinsing with clean water. I feel this residue contributed to the skin dryness and discomfort I experienced.I found the scent to be very masculine and quite unpleasant (think of a cross between herbal bubble bath and old fashioned aftershave). I'm not sure if I received a bad batch because I couldn't detect any mint aroma ... MoreThis handwash was a huge disappointment for a number of reasons.Firstly, the bottle claims the product was "Pure & Gentle" and "dermatologically tested" however, this wasn't the case for me as it made my hands feel incredibly dry and sore which is bizarre for a "100% soap free" product.I found the handwash took a while to lather, and while it did indeed clean my hands, I felt like there was a strange residue on my skin even after thorough rinsing with clean water. I'm not sure if I received a bad batch because I couldn't detect any mint aroma whatsoever - maybe they forgot to add the "mint extract"? The scent is very overpowering which intensified as it warmed on your hands. It's quite headache inducing and doesn't budge even after numerous hand washes with my regular brand. Not good at all!Overall, I'm pretty disappointed with this product and is not something I would expect from a long established brand like Pears (established 1807) and as such, I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

Overall I liked this product and it did what it claimed to do. I was slightly fooled by the " lemon flower extract" smell thinking it would be lemony and fresh. I couldn't decide what the smell was it was very slightly lemon with Apple and another smell I couldn't decided on coming through. It was fresh and pleasant smelling though. After a few weeks of using many times through the day, my hands are smooth but not as much as I'd hoped they would be. You do get a good lather up and your hands do smell clean and fresh afterwards.I decided to ask my visitors to my home what they thought and the results can be seen in the 1st photograph. Overall a thumbs up but like me confused on the smell.I liked the black writing on the bottle as it means you are able to read the ... MoreOverall I liked this product and it did what it claimed to do. Nice to have a non-floral hand wash!
24 August 2018

With the mint extract, I was worried it would smell like toothpaste but thankfully I was wrong! It smells quite herbal, and like general cleanness - it's nice to have a hand wash that doesn't smell too floral, or like food or something edible. It borders on slightly masculine, but that doesn't bother me. The scent lingers but also isn't overpowering - it's like I've put on some handcream. At first I thought it might dry out my hands (I avoid soap for this reason), but now my hands are soft and aren't dry at all. It also lathers up well and one pump is plenty. The bottle itself is understated but attractive, and has a bit of a vintage look to it - it looks nice displayed on the sink. It's great if you're looking for something that isn't too "girly" or floral but still want something kind to your skin.

Nothing Special

Hand wash is not something I think too much about. I usually just buy whatever is cheapest at the supermarket. However, I do suffer from pretty dry hands, so if I was to find a hand wash that could help my hands feel more hydrated, and that smelled amazing, I could be tempted to buy it on a regular basis.Unfortunately, I did not find this from the Pears hand wash. For a start, I was really looking forward to trying this because I love mint fragrance in skincare products. However, I could not detect any trace of mint in this handwash. It had a very sweet, artificial scent that was not to my liking. It did produce a nice lather when you used it, but my hands did feel pretty dry and tight afterwards. On a positive note though, I did find that this cleaned my hands ... MoreHand wash is not something I think too much about. PEARS HAND WASH #GOT IT FOR FREE#

Was looking forward to to trying this Pears hand wash with lemon flower extract as I have used Pears soap bar as a child with my mother & grandmother and with over 200 years of heritage & expertise & given that it is 100% soap free with the additional PH balance & dermatological testing, I was expecting great things.Sadly this was not the case for me.The positives:The fragrance is beautiful & has a lovely refreshing lemon uplifting scent. No need for 1 full pump as a little goes a very long wayThe Negatives:I found it to have a thick almost gloopy consistency with an oily feel to it on use which adhered to my skin and for me personally I did not like thisAlso after my hands had dried it made my skin a lot drier than other hand washes I have used.Would I ... MoreWas looking forward to to trying this Pears hand wash with lemon flower extract as I have used Pears soap bar as a child with my mother & grandmother and with over 200 years of heritage & expertise & given that it is 100% soap free with the additional PH balance & dermatological testing, I was expecting great things.Sadly this was not the case for me.The positives:The fragrance is beautiful & has a lovely refreshing lemon uplifting scent. No need for 1 full pump as a little goes a very long wayThe Negatives:I found it to have a thick almost gloopy consistency with an oily feel to it on use which adhered to my skin and for me personally I did not like thisAlso after my hands had dried it made my skin a lot drier than other hand washes I have used.Would I purchase ?Sadly no.A little disappointed in this one from Pears. However that’s not to say that others will have the same experience as I had.So to bzz agent #Got it for free# I say thank you for allowing me to try

Pears - washes away unpleasant odours
11 September 2018

I think this is a good product as it really does leave your skin feeling moisturised. With other hand washes I need to apply moisturiser afterwards as they really dry my skin out.I have been most impressed with how effective the hand wash is as getting rid of unpleasant odoyrs. Without going in to too much detail, I have a potty training toddler and other hand washes only manage to mask the smell, no matter how many times I wash my hands. With Pears my hands actually feel and smell clean. The packaging uses classic pears branding and has an easy to open pump. It can be used, once opened, for up to a year, which is good. The bottle is recyclable, which I was pleased to see. I was disappointed, however, that it wasn't cruelty-free. This is the only reason I've given it four stars rather than five.

amazing soap but no refill available

I love this soap. I discovered it in a beautiful boutique place I was staying and wanted to emulate the feeling so stocked up. But I cant justify buying a new pack each time and a refill version isnt available, so will go back to my previous brand. Come on Pears, sort it out!
