Awesome case!

This case is obviously very well-constructed and strong. Every part of it seems sturdy, from the locks to the case itself to the handles and wheels. There is plenty of padding on the inside, too. The only reason I did not give it a 5 out of 5 stars is, the padded was a little limited on how I could customize it. I use this for professional photography lights, and the depth was a little "pre-determined" vs. being completely customizable. It still works for what I want. I just would have wanted more control of the inside. The instructions say you can glue pieces together for a more customizable fit. With other pick-and-pluck type cases, the customizable pieces were smaller in cut options, which made it more customizable for perfect fits. Big, heavy, durable rolling case for my camera equipment. Well made, quality hinge, good foam, durable case. The case is a good value. This case does it job. It protects my valuable camera equipment while traveling. I load up my camera gear and it protects it from drops, bounces, bangs, and rough travel. You can easily stack stuff on the case without worrying about anything getting crushed inside. Quality product made here in the USA. The desert tan color doesn't get as hot while sitting out in the sun. Latches are great. The case seals out dust and moisture. Everything works on this case. I'm glad I bought the rolling version of this case as it weighs quite a bit when loaded with pro photo gear.

Great carry case or wheeled roller case when needed.

I am using the Pelican 1650 case to hold all my Nikon D850 camera gear including telephoto lenses, wide-angle lenses, flash, chargers and batteries, etc. The Pelican case is solid and clearly durable and can be used for transportation without fear of impact damage or vibration damage. To get the best like Pelican, you have to pay what it is worth. The Pelican case is certainly good value. I will be confident that my expensive camera gear is safe and secure when being transported. Thank-you Pelican for innovative design including easily shaped foam material inserts for close fitting and protection of my camera gear. Yours Truly, Bob Marshall .

I am a building contractor by trade and as such, many of my tools receive heavy use and sometimes abuse! This case has served me very well for 4 years now. I bought this as a tool case that would reside in the bed of my truck, which is where it has lived for those 4 years. Blazing heat to sub-zero winter days and everything in between - this case has been out in it all. Other materials and tools get thrown on top of it and slid in next to it. Of the original lid locking clips only two remain completely intact, the others have all been broken off. On the coldest of days, the material does become somewhat brittle and easily broken. A couple of the clips snapped by just trying to open them with hand pressure after they had been frozen shut with ice. All in all solid product and worth the price - I doubt you can abuse it anymore than I have!

Quality Pelican!

Pelican is the undisputed leader in quality cases. This is the second Pelican 1650 case that I have purchased, both for Celestron 8 telescopes, I now have two. I have a couple other smaller cases, again quality! You can't go wrong with a Pelican case!

Solid case
19 January 2024

Nice solid hardshell case and love that I know my gear will be protected from the weather. So I got this case from a recommendation from a fellow photographer online. I mistakenly assumed he used this case similarly to how I was using a case this would be replacing...total fault on me as I should have clarified what he fit into this case, and I should have double checked my measurements. However, even though it wasn't tall enough for what I initially wanted, I realized it would actually work out better for me, and I could toss my stands into a stand bag and just lay on top. So now I can carry more in this case then my previous case, sans the light stands, which means less back and forth from vehicle at locations. I took the foam out; I don't believe I'll need it.

Solid protection for your valuable equipment.

Purchased this to hold multiple Canon DSLR's, lenses, video cameras and accessories. The height of this case, including some of the lid area, was just high enough to hold my Canon 70-200 ef f/2.8 L and my Canon 180 Macro in the upright position, thus saving valuable space. The case is big and heavy, but built solid with latches all around three sides and a convenient handle and wheels for easier transport. Was going to go with their newer, lighter cases, but they didn't have one this size. Pad lock holes on each side of front for locking case. Nice to have everything in one case. Tried to find a consensus on the best color to buy, which there wasn't, so I went with the black. The dividers are easy to install although it seems there's never enough of them to finish the last 1/4 of the layout the way I wanted it. The lid organizer is pretty much a necessity and is easy to install with the 6 included screws. The case lid has pre-drilled holes for this add on. The quality of the organizer is sub-par, but it does work.

Sturdy, Tons of Space, Easily Customized

I wasn't sure if the price of the case was worth it, but hey, it's made in America and it shows. I purchased the organizer which attaches to the inside of the top lid with screws. It's sturdy. The foam was much easier to customize than I thought, and it didn't create a huge mess to clean up. The foam is very thick, consistent, and supports and protects gear at all levels of the can.Again, this case is very sturdy.I've used it as a stool, a table, a desk, steps, and as a door barrier to block the family dog from entering certain rooms of house (it likes to spray on things). This case was purchased to protect a Canon C300 Mark I, a Canon C300 Mark III, 2 CN-E Prime Lenses and a Cine-Servo zoom lens. The only question you need to ask yourself is what size
27 June 2017

So my dad has the 1600 case and I wanted it to be just a little bit bigger than his. I didn't measure out the dimensions, which I should have. This case has probably 50% more usable room than the 1600. The old photographer's adage 'No matter how big, you'll always want more room in your pelican case' (ok, I just made that up) is still true. Even though I thought this case was way too big when it first came, I found a way to fill it to the brim with: 7 L lenses, 6D camera body, 80D camera body, Gopro equipment, lapel and shotgun mic setups, batteries galore, filters for days... I could go on. Anyway, what I figured out was that when I travel, I want more things than just my camera gear safe and if I have more than one pelican case, the space between them when stacked ... MoreSo my dad has the 1600 case and I wanted it to be just a little bit bigger than his. Anyway, what I figured out was that when I travel, I want more things than just my camera gear safe and if I have more than one pelican case, the space between them when stacked is just wasted (I travel in a small van so space is extremely precious). Also, having everything in one place is very convenient. Instead of thinking 'was that lens in the green pelican case or the beige... dang, it was in the black one!!' and then you get frustrated because it's on the roof rack of the van and you already wasted 10 minutes looking through the other pelicans and that gopher you're trying to get the right lens to photograph is not waiting around, and probably went back in his little burrow. In regards to how this thing performs, I mean it's a Pelican, so 5 *s. The only question you need to ask yourself is what size you need... and then go one size up.

This thing is huge. Dimensional estimate ratio for pelican cases is usually very conservative when estimating the volume consumed vs the storage volume provided. But, it's Pelican, so how can you not love it? I'm using this to house all of my DeWalt cordless tools, batteries, and accessories. One thing about this case that might be prohibitive for some, it's very heavy when it's empty. You have been warned! This is my first (of many) Pelican case that has the rollers and the slide out handle. I'm 6'4", almost no luggage type rolling products are comfortable for me to use. I usually end up just carrying stuff by the handle. This one IS long enough to be useful. While the material used is very strong, it has a lot of slop. This is not true of the rest of the case of course, just the handle. I guess you can remove it, and just use the short case handle, but then it's difficult to handle. That's another thing, I have never seen a Pelican case with all of this extra crap on the bottom for the handle, but that makes sense I guess. It just seems like the whole luggage handle apparatus was a victim of hustled or intern engineering since it's not very critical to the functionality of the case itself, protection wise.
