I love this pen. If you have really large hands, it may not be for you; it's comfortable for me, but it is much lighter than I expected, and the section is also a little thinner than I expected. It puts down a nice, wet line that is as fine as expected on Rhodia (but on cheap copy paper, it spreads and bleeds, as you would expect of such a wet pen).I knocked off a star because it came out of the (beautiful, intricate) package with misaligned tines, and was as a result, very scratchy. I have a loupe and was able to fix the issue pretty easily, but I don't think I should have had to with a pen at this level.

Love the pen. The pen is beautiful. A friend, who is also a fan of good pens, tried it for a few minutes. A day later she texted to tell me she had ordered one. The nib is very smooth. The pen is a bit smaller than I would like; I have several TWSBI ECO pens and have become accustomed to their size. The grip diameter is less than I am used to but still very comfortable. With the TWSBI ECOs I usually do not post the cap for balance reasons. With the M205 I find the balance is more comfortable to me when posted.

I thought that my Vanishing Point and Custom 74 were smooth, but Pelikan showed me what smooth can be. The Pelikan M205 is so smooth it is like a figure skater gliding across a fresh ice. The M205 is also the easiest pen I own to fill with ink. The very first time I inked it I did not get any ink on my hands. I wish all pens would use a piston filler. This pen has definitely made me a fan of Pelikan!

The color of this blue swirl on the pen is very vibrant. The pen itself is a bit light, and it is also shorter than I am used to (LAMY Safari, Caran d'ache 849, Cross Wanderlust, Online Vision), but it is well-balanced with the cap on (unlike with the others). The EF nib is smooth, but still has a good feedback/friction so that it glides without halting but still feels like concretely writing, which I like. It is not as smooth as the Cross Wanderlust, but I like the additional feedback of the Pelikan better. This is my first pen with built in piston fill, but it was easy to figure out.
The Pelikan M205 is an excellent entry into a range of what I consider some of the best, most reliable and consistent fountain pens available today, and the Blue Marble I received from Iguanasell is no exception. Even with its steel nib, as opposed to the gold nibs that grace the higher priced models (M400 and up), it's a smooth writer and an excellent performer. It never fails to write, never skips, and lays down what I consider a perfectly wet line. I wanted to add the Blue Marble to my collection, and Iguanasell had it on sale at a fantastic price. It was beautifully and safely packed and shipped it out to me promptly, arriving in a few days in perfect condition. An excellent product, and excellent price, and first rate service - a hard combination to beat! ... MoreThe Pelikan M205 is an excellent entry into a range of what I consider some of the best, most reliable and consistent fountain pens available today, and the Blue Marble I received from Iguanasell is no exception. This pen is AMAZING!!!! I paired it with Diamine Majestic Blue and it was such a dream as soon as I started writing. I prefer it to write on Apica paper rather than Rhodia. Either way no bleed through. Great feeling holding this pen. So comfortably writing. I love gouletpens!
The pen is good but not worth the price. The ink doesn't always flow smoothly and the pen is a little scratchy. I ordered a broad nib but this still seems more like between a broad and a medium.
Pen is very smooth in writing, and is most likely due to the 14k nib, which is nice. I do not feel that it is scratchy at all. The length and width is a little smaller than I prefer, but when the pen is posted, it seems to be okay as far as length and weight. Color is nice.
Ive always wanted to own a piston fill demonstrator. Like a magpie thats magnetically drawn to shiny things, my pupils widen at the sight of this polished piece of blue plastic with silver trimmings. When I first read about Pelikans new M205 demonstrator in blue, I knew that I would be getting the pen. Images of the pen stayed in my subconscious, taunting me for months, as I patiently waited for the pen to appear in the shops. When I read that the local FPNer printhardcopy had finally received stocks and was offering them for a good price, I decided to get one. I placed my order on Wednesday afternoon and it arrived on Friday. It came in a bubble wrap envelope that contained a golden yellow cylindrical aluminium case and a Pelikan warranty booklet. 1. 1. Appearance & Design There are those who like Pelikan piston pens for their conservative aesthetics, and then there are those who think they look too blah. The coloured demonstrator adds an element of fun to the pen and makes it more appealing to a younger crowd. Well at least thats what I think! I wasnt sure about the shade of blue based on photos on the Internet, but it turned out to be a sky blue. Depending on the lighting, it can look like closer to cobalt blue too. Id previously considered the colourless M205 but it didnot attract me as I could see the grey and black plastic innards too clearly, and that to me cheapens the look of the pen. An added advantage to the M205 is that being coloured, any ink stains and condensation will not show up as clearly. Ive never been a fan of ornate pens and prefer my pens to have minimal or no bling, so the M205 suits me just fine. Compared to the dark green M200 which I own, I prefer the silver trimmings of the M205. The other demonstrator which I owned briefly, the Pilot Custom 74, appears to have an over-large cap that ruins the aesthetics of the pen. Given my inexplicable attraction for most things blue, my rating for the appearance of this pen is probably a little biased. Score: 10/10 2. Construction & Quality The pen feels reasonably solid even though it is made of plastic. If memory serves me correctly, Id dropped the cap of my M200 before and it endured that abuse without any signs, so Im expecting this pen to behave the same as the plastics used for both pens appear to be similar. The section of the M205, however, has a slightly prominent manufacturing seam that I could detect, compared to that on my M200, which is almost unidentifiable by touch. Im not too pleased with that, so Ive deducted one mark for that. The clip of the pen appears to besturdy and tight, but I dont clip my pens so I'm not the best person to determine that. The section has just a slightly raised instead of over-pronounced lip at the edge, and that is what I prefer for my pens. Ill say that the pen is very well constructed in general. Score: 9/10 3. Weight & Dimensions Capped: 12.4 cm. Without cap: 12.1 cm. Posted: 14.9 cm. Diameter of middle part of section: 1 cm. Using a flimsy letter scale, the pen appears to be about 15 grams with almost a full tank of ink. Most people consider this a small sized pen, but the dimensions and weight are just nice for me as I have small hands. While I do not usually post my pens, Ive tried doing so for this pen and the cap sits in place nicely without shifting the balance of the pen much. Heres one more gratuitous photo of the pen. Score: 10/10 4. Nib & Performance I got an EF nib as I think finer line widths complement my writing better. The nib is made of stainless steel and there are two chicks on it, compared to the cap, which has one chick, though I doubt if you can see it from the photo below. Not that it makes a difference to how the pen writes! This particular nib that I have is not as smooth as the nib for my M200 but feels a little toothy, and Ive tried it with both Parker Quink and Sailor Jentle Blue. The nib is a little too wet for my taste, making the line width closer to 0.6mm instead of 0.5mm. There is also considerable bleedthrough on the lecture pad that I use, which is usually tolerant of all but the wettest nibs. This can probably be improved by using a drier ink, but I like how the Noodlers Ottoman Azure looks with this pen! For both inks that I tried, some of my strokes are not fully formed, especially at the beginning of a downstroke. This is not reflected in the bad poetry that I got inspired to pen above, but it's occured often enough for me to be sure it's due to the nib, not the ink or the paper. Using my 30X loupe, it seems as though the left tine facing me has a slight babys bottom. Im disappointed with the performance of the nib, but Ill be contacting Pelikan for a replacement once the weekend is over. The good things is that I got the pen from an authorised distributor and replacement nibs are readily available on the Internet. Thats one of the reasons why I like Pelikans. Score: 8/10
I love this pen. I have a Vanishing Point, a Studio, and Kaweco Brass... As for travel sized pens (this is a rather small pen), the 205 is probably my favorite. It writes very smoothly with a tiny bit of feedback that simply lets you know the pen is working. It glides across paper effortlessly and is what I guess to be a fantastic introduction to Pelikan pens. If you don't want to invest in a gold nib, this pen will give you the utmost steel experience.I never hear the M205 listed as a phenomenal intro. pen but it really is.I will mention that it is a pocket pen, in my opinion. It's very small until posted.
