Does as says , you can tell difference in HB B pencils. Sturdy but light with good balance. I judge my pencils by how they balance put in middle of 2nd finger. These keep there balance till too small a stub to do it with !

Staedtler pencils are good quality pencils. Unlike the cheap pencils around today these pencils have stronger wood and stronger lead. This brand of pencil will last you some distance.
I like to annotate music and books with a soft pencil so bought 3x 5B pencils. Two are really good but the third pencil has a faulty lead I think because when I press down on it, the lead keeps snapping and I am not heavy handed! So "no" for value and quality is because of the third pencil the other two are absolutely fine.
I use them at work, and the kids have them at home. The pencil can be dropped on the floor over and over and the lead shaft never breaks, unlike the super pack of 100 I bought previously that as soon as the pencil is dropped the shaft shatters and the pencil cannot be sharpened anymore: straight to the bin.
This pencil is sturdy, it's lead shows well on paper but it is a little hard, however it is still new and does smudge well.
I was very pleased to find these classic Staedtler pencils sold loose in my local Rymans. They had a variety of hardness/softness, and as a devotee of 4B (very soft) I was very surprised as well as pleased.
