Penfolds Max 039 s Shiraz Cabernet is a tribute to former Chief Winemaker Max Schubert 1948 1975, a legend in Penfolds history.Crimson core with magenta brightness at the rim, there is an almond cake and white chocolate sweetness which creates a web with boysenberry and blue fruit aromatics. Defined tannins wraps around a palate full of blueberry and mulberry brightness. Black olive and brine like Nori savouriness add an extra dimension so that fruit doesn t stand alone.

What a discovery for this range of price, much better than many others 10-20£ more expensive. Beautiful dark red coloured, well bodied, red fruits taste but very well balanced... better to let it breath for 30 mins.... I don’t remember the last time I tried something that produced me such a sensation.... now looking forward to taste the BIN28.Great wine no doubts, 5 stars!

This review is for the 2018 vintage. Very nice and powerful wine from Penfolds that allows entry into the stable. Redolent notes of iris, blackberry, anise, tobacco. Chewy tannins are well integrated with the abundant fruit. Medium acidity and medium finish. The wine offers pleasure and structure in equal measure. WS 93 pts and WA 93 pts shine the light on this very good wine that has excellent QPR

Absolutely lovely shiraz at this price point.Seriously well-made and bursting with fruit. Long finish and perfect balance - not just good quality grapes, but a talented winemaking team.Glad we bought a few btls of the 2019 when it was on special offer. Can’t afford their Grange, but this will do nicely!(almost as nice as the Cabernet-Shiraz blend, which Waitrose sadly doesn’t stock)

Im reviewing this product because I got a free sample from ocado. This is a good value red wine, and you can't go wrong with a Penfolds in my opinion!
I bought one bottle of this (at another store) to try out and fell in love with it. When I went back to buy more, I was told, "Sorry, sold out for the year." I finally found it here at Total in Laurel (not convenient to where I live, but worth the trip). This is a smooth, full-bodied shiraz. Exactly the way I like most of my red wines, And, at under $30 a bottle, a relative bargain.
Our friends who live in Adelaide brought this wine over to our housewarming dinner recently. I have been avoiding red wine for some time now because I get awful headaches a few hours later if they are tannin heavy. Our friends said this wine was not that and my partner tasted it first - smooth. I had 4 ounces and no headache afterwards- it was perfect with the grilled steaks we served for dinner. Will buy this one in the future!
In this price range there is nothing better. The Beringer Reserve was always my bottle until I tried this gem. Gives the Grange a run for it's money and you will save $400.00. Highly recommend. We decanted for an hour and it opens up from there.
First time I've had this wine. It's definitely one of the better ones I've tasted in quite a while. Very smooth with none of the acidity and bite sometimes found in red wines. Highly recommend.
My fiancee and I shared this bottle for the Valentine's Day weekend and it was excellent. We are huge shiraz fans and this lived up to the billing...and the price. From nose to finish, great drink of wine. Highly recommended.
I bought this as a gift because the box looked good too. Sadly I cant comment on the taste as it isnt for me.
