Empressa Eau de Parfum is a luxurious, luminous, lavish scent. A precious Middle Eastern Rose, from Damascus, makes the fragrance tender; geranium and pepper bring verve. The opening trilogy of blood orange, bergamot and mandarin serve as an inviting, radiant smile. But what lingers of the Empressa, are the sensual depths of cocoa, amber, patchouli, frankincense and the most precious woods.

Empressa by Penhaligon's has been always compared to Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle, and yes they smell almost identical. However there's still a slight difference between them. First, Empressa is a little bit more well rounded, there's no sharp notes and doesn't give me headaches at all. It has that burst of freshness in the opening that makes it youthful and more wearable. Mean while Coco Mademoiselle is stronger, darker and sexier. Sometimes head inducing if you happen to overspray unlike with Empressa. To make it short, I'll say Coco Mademoiselle is the elder sister, classy and sophisticated; while Empressa is the younger one, elegant and beautiful. As per longevity and sillage, Coco Mademoiselle performs better. Price point, Empressa is definitely on the expensive ... MoreEmpressa by Penhaligon's has been always compared to Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle, and yes they smell almost identical. This is quite a mature fragrance. There’s only a slight powdery sweetness on me and the rest is warm, woody and almost spicy. Despite those notes I can pick out on my skin, it’s still a very feminine fragrance. I think this is because of the floral. Though on me it doesn’t pull too rosy/floral. I like it though. I get a vintage feel when I wear it and there’s definitely something familiar about it. I feel like my mum might have worn something similar in the 90s. It smells like the perfume section of an airport when I was a child. (Probably me spraying everything) but in a good way. Yes, it’s definitely not a modern/young fragrance, but if you want to smell “grown up” then this is a great one. I love this! When you initially put this on you get orange peach and a slightly weaker rose. After it settles onto yohr skin it becomes less 'fruity' and with more rose on top.So it starts quite strong and fruity but becomes less sweet. I find it to be soft, feminine and very classy! Its probably a more evening out perfume but I am more than happy to wear it at any time of day or night!
It’s a really deep rich scent. It might feel bit heavy on the beginning, but it grows and reveals more delicate tones. It’s smells like a rich oriental fruit. It’s warm and hard to forget. Scent last on skin for very long, I can smell it on clothes after wash!I’ve received so many compliments since wearing it. It’s not everyone cup of tea, but if you like deep and rich scents, this is great choice
My wife tried this for the first time recently. This is a sweet and sophisticated scent. Patchouli and vanilla are in this lovely fresh fragrance. This is well worth every penny of its price. My wife hasn't smelled anything quite like this for some time. It's a head turner but it doesn't overpower, it lingers but in a light and lovely way.If you are looking for a gift, or a treat you will not go wrong with this.
Penhaligans are renowned for their high quality fragrances and this one doesn’t disappoint!Base notes: Vanilla pod, Cocoa, Frankincense, Amber, Musk, Woods, Patchouli, Sandalwood, MaltolMiddle notes: Peach, Cassis, Dewberry, Rose, Neroli, Geranium, Cardamom, Pink pepper, Black pepperTop notes: Blood orange, Bergamot, Mandarin. So a whole mixture of scents which makes up the strong scent that lasts all day and night! I have had so many compliments whilst wearing this fragrance!
Based on the fragrance notes, I didn't expect to enjoy this perfume as much as I actually did. There is a nice musky, woody base that pairs really well with the deep floral notes. The longevity is very good and it lasted for a decent while. It is captivating and unique, I can't think of a similar perfume to this which makes it a great signature scent. I got quite a few compliments when wearing this throughout the day. I would definitely categorise it as an evening/party fragrance though. I also get more mature vibes from this perfume so I could see it being a good gift for an older woman.
From the minute I walked by the Penhaligons boot and got a whiff of this scent, I immediately turned around to ask “What is that smell?”. It is an elevated and screams “Luxury” scent. I typically LOVE CHANNEL, but THIS, is next level. A must have for sure!! So happy with my purchase and new scent that my mom also ended up purchasing a bottle.
